Now that the price diff of 1.8 Premium & 1.6 HS is rm104000-rm90000=rm14000, is it better or bang for the buck to get the 1.8 just for the engine, NU vs Gamma? Both I think is value for money. I also think that built quality better than T+H+N. But slightly lost in aftersales/SC but still better than the rest like kia, mazda, pug, ford. I am currently shortlisting Hyundai models like sonata, tucson, elentra for the above reasons. Would love to get the new Santa Fe if below rm150k.

QUOTE(saldopullt @ Nov 25 2013, 04:32 PM) I read some article saying that elantra is actually a SKD (semi knock down) in malaysia. Most parts were assembled in Korea, only tyres and doors are assembled in Kulim Inokom factory. One more thing I noted is the touchscreen/navi system in the 1.8 is malaysia-made capalang brand while in the 1.6 is Korea-made so sound is better than 1.8. I read about the same thing. SKD should be better than those T+H+N CKD. Wonder what is the diff in Gamma & Nu engines. The latest Hyundai launched i40 comes with NU GDI engine unlike the Elantra 1.8 & Sonata 2.0 Nu MPI engine.

QUOTE(saldopullt @ Nov 25 2013, 05:14 PM) I think Gamma and Nu is just a name to differentiate the generation. What different in MPI (Multi Port Injection) and GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) is that, GDI generate more power with direct fuel injection. U can see Sonata 2.0 MPI engine generate 162ps while the i40 2.0 GDI generate 178ps. GDI engine existed for quite some time already, the reason Malaysia did not bring in GDI engine as from what I read, the bad fuel quality in Malaysia (ie: ron92/ron95). I did not know what are the effect of bad fuel quality to GDI engine. Does that mean that the i40 will need to use Ron97?

QUOTE(ilovestitch @ Dec 21 2013, 01:11 PM) just brought my baby to service this thursday, with ecu reset, now it has become 588km/l, switch from shell to petron, hehe. I wonder if it is just a reading, and we might get different result in the actual fuel consumption. But thanks to all sifu for the tips sharing. Wah I think you car just made the Universe Record of 588km/l, the technology must be worth zillion of dollars, hahaha.
