QUOTE(faujc99 @ Jun 7 2013, 08:38 PM)
hi guys, just got my santo blue elantra 2 weeks ago, very happy with the car, only a few things need your opinion b4 i go for first service:
1. when put in reverse gear, if u do not step on the pedal the car wont move, and since i'm still getting used to it, very hard for me to control when reversing especially if the space at the back is limited. is this normal? i find HE1.6 a bit underpower, and i'm a person who doesnt drive fast.
2. rear windscreen blurr during the day. i think its the reflection from the dashboard at the back, any solution for this? already tinted the rear but still the same
3. for services, in the booklet mentioned first service in 2weeks or 1k mileage, if i dont reach 1k but over 2 weeks, are they ok with it? and the subsequent service as well. plan to send to puchong service centre, are they any good?
4. back middle leather seat finishing a bit cacat, can claim? (not that big part, just around 2inches at the edges can see memang like cacat, poor finishing)
5. do u guys tint the headlamp so that it wont turn yellowish over time? cost around RM200 for both though
6. i think this is quite common, sound system is poor. adding tweeter will void warranty? changing the whole set i think will, right?

other than that everything seems fine, even alignment & balancing also ok. will post pics of the santo blue with bodykit later  rclxms.gif thanks in advance guys, hope u all can solve my prob  icon_rolleyes.gif

1. Get used to it, I find it acceptable.
2. Have no such issue.
3. Just get it service soon. First and second service is important.
4. Get it claim when you go service. If the service center refuse to help, go to another.
5. Tint is to protect from stone chip and scratches, or plain self-satisfaction. There are few member done it, blue and black. Price is about there.
6. Poor depends what you comparing it with and what kinda media you play. I'm happy with the stock. But will definitely upgrade but not priority. Anything you mod are consider voiding warranty.

Go to service center and ask for replacement SD card. You might have to pay for it.

Would like to check with u all if any of u having issue "ko ko ko" sound coming from steering or front wheels when moving over uneven road? or if u turning the steering left right left right fast when car stop?

My car ODO is 36K, start having this issue since 30K.

QUOTE(bestsane @ Nov 12 2013, 05:28 PM)
I'd like to update on my car.

Done the 2nd service last month at Sutera Gemilang (near Bukit Subang). The charge was RM490.70. OK, I accepted that. They also changed my rear brake pads for free because I complained about the noise when emergency-braking.

On top of that, the service personnel asked me if I had stability issues with my absorbers. I said usually when cornering, the car rolled. Without inspecting, the guy offered me a replacement of a set of rear coil springs & rear absorbers.

Then, last Saturday, I had my springs & absorbers changed. Of course, nothing comes free, I had to pay for tire alignment & balancing for RM60. OK, I just paid it. So the result is, cornering is improved slightly. There's still rolling I can feel, but not as bad as before they were changed.

So, after 6 onths owning the car, 3 things have been changed under the warranty: brake pads, coil springs & absorbers.

Anyone with this kind of experience?
*
The rear sway aka fish tail aka rear rolling aka "sampan" issue are leaded by EMC and it's made as an unofficial recall should any Elantra owner complain about it. Many have replace it.

Brake pads there are several reported cases within the clubs that they will replace it.

I myself only claimed the rear absorber set. The rest are isolated case.

Been a while did not check in....
Here's to some questions on this page.
@Dickong, that is gear shift lock, to avoid unintended gear shift without applying the brake. Not parking lock. So when you step brake the lock release, when you release the lock engage, that's when you hear the noise. If you don't hear the noise, you can feel the knocking if you rest your hand on the gear stick. Depend on each individual preference, some find it unacceptable, if so, go to SC and request them to rectify it. Some apply grease, some add rubber padding.

@kello, 1.8 stock plugs is already iridium. Check your service schedule on when to replace plug.

Denso Iridium Power are estimated to last 150k KM (http://www.denso.com.au/Products/Automotive/Spark-Plugs), subject to wear and tear. Drop in type K&N filter should not void your warranty. Any issue just swap it back to stock filter before warranty claim, easy as pie. Unless you planning to put in typhoon/ mushroom head high flow pod filter. Else no worries.

@JimmyChan77, IXUH22i.

Any sifu here install FIRESTORM n any performance different. tq
*
The club tested it before. We will need 2 unit for our car as there are 2 fuses for ignition coils. That doubled the cost. Performance wise you do get improvement, more on the 1.8 model. 1.6 is minimal. You will get better boost from ETC (Potent Booster). Also consider this product might shorten your spark plugs lifespan too. Even-though the distributor say it won't.

Only the tyre noise abit loud? Anyone face this with stock nct-5?

Yeap, stock tyre are not quiet one. It will get louder as it wear out and aged.
Some upgraded to better tyres. Some did sound proof to cut down the noise.
