Didn't you know???

It has always been like that since i first watched it in 1997.

Only half an hour of coverage late at night back then. What is worst of all, this is supposedly our pride and joy national tour.

from a price point of view, Fuji since it's so damn cheap if you don't mind their in house oval parts and a mixture of cranks and calipers

else, the EMC for paper spec because of the carbon chainstay and an in house carbon seatpost and pretty much a full 105 setup for that price point which is not going to happen much often...

but, again.. as said then and always.. you have to see which shop you prefer as buying a bike is not as simple as just buying the bike itself... if you run into problems after purchase and the service is sucky as hell... you might as well make do with another bike or you end up paying for service at another shop that you didn't buy from... that itself, you have to be a judge yourself when you speak to them...

not really, they just got acquired by Fuji and that makes some people think otherwise...

you don't need training as long as you are physically active...

just don't follow the pace of the fast riders and go according to what you can afford to churn out...

the big boys only come out for the main events like the big classics and grand tours... small ones let the small fries makan first... haha

sexy wheels, and has the fragile looks..but if pros are using it then it must be good and robust enough...
*
you have to also remember pros will ditch their wheels after a number of uses (which is unacceptable to you and me) while you have to continuously ride them for years to come...

it is not going to be as reliable as the old classics rim... but that is the way the ball is rolling nowadays... nothing can stop it especially when there is people who only prefers to use equipment the pros uses....

QUOTE(yolk @ Feb 26 2013, 07:00 AM)
correct me if i'm wrong .. but to my untrained eyes that frame looks a wee bit too small for him ??
*
maybe it's a angle problem...

but then again, you can see he is running quite a long stem... looks like in excess of 120mm and pretty much like a 140mm...

many riders prefer to run long stems as that sort of allows them to put majority of their weight forward in order for them to center their weight on the pedal spindle in the downward stroke position...i've read about it before but too complicated i didn't bother to digest it...

QUOTE(yolk @ Feb 26 2013, 07:09 AM)
I always wondered if seasoned riders find climbing hill less painful or they go through the same amount of pain except it ends quicker coz they climb faster ? unsure.gif
*
it is less painful for them at your pace...at their limit, it is equally as hard as you are when you are at your limit...it is just that they have trained themselves to numb out this pain as much as possible...

the market should still have OD FD lar... you got go ask the shops??? if not, just find a clamp on to braze on converter and use a braze on FD lor...

else, in BBS got Ultegra or a Tiagra which is months ago already...

takkan because my perodua salesman don't want to give me an RM500 discount i go and buy 2nd hand myvi right? where is the logic in that...

ultegra / 105 mix is very common... some ultegra bikes that is not expensive mixes 105 parts to lower the price point down...

lets see hehehehe ..... perodua viva RM$24,912.50.......RM$500.....What is the reflected quantum for new versus old bicycle parts ?

With items that have no returns I prefer to buy 2nd hand. I can be extremely patient.

But I do get you. My goal is to get the old frame road worthy and see if my 15 yr old mistake is an actual mistake at the lowest possible price with reasonably more modern parts.

Hence the 2nd hand 105-5700 groupo.

And to cause further distress (for some of you), I have an old Giant MTB saddle on it =P (for the time being).

Last but not least uber heavy but new Fulcrum 7s (Clydesdale here) which I shall for sure kill. I shall be buying new tires/tubes.

There is a new headset and CF TT fork on it made by Trigon. It looks odd with the 1" headtube.

New Campag 'STI' guides and Fuji CF seatpost (this I got really cheap, but heavy).
well, it's my favourite saying... watever yanks your chain dude...

i couldn't bear to buy 2nd hand parts even if it was dirt cheap for reasons that i could not factor into like longevity of the used parts and condition of it....

sometimes, small little things like worn pulleys on an RD can cause premature chain wear and stuff and a derailleur could have been bent out of shape that you could not notice until you mount it on a bike...

else, if the pricing is really not too far off... i would rather save up a bit more for a new part...

you still have a 1" steerer tube??? can find the fork somemore?

QUOTE(Eokboy @ Feb 27 2013, 08:22 AM)
Honestly I did not. I tried to watch it last year but the online stream won't even load. They're more eager to show each and every rider crossing the finish line than show the actual racing. Commentators don't know the difference between sprinters and GC men. And what is the point of the helicopter when I can't see shit?

Good luck trying to compete with the Tour of Dubai next year. Such a shame considering we actually have local riders and local fans showing up. Can't fight oil money though.
*
well, i don't understand the mentality of the coverage as well... at least sometimes eurosport does a lengthy coverage of it although not live... but it offers alternative rather than the so awful RTM...

even that many years back... LTDF was only a 30mins coverage on mega TV under ESPN (for those who still remember it, pre-astro days)... and those 30 mins was definitely not enough and you crave for more of it... LTDL one the other hand was somewhat a pain to watch even though it was the same 30 mins...

well... even the china tours and other asia tours is threatening LTDL... and they don't have oil backings...while we have...

i wonder if he offended the main commentator and got sacked the next year?

they should just hire paul and phil...

I commented on the ltdl fb page since last year about the poor coverage and only showing the commentators babbling at the finish line. This year they dont even bother to correct their mistake.

Conclusion is, after how many years they organized the event, they all syok sendiri!

And Hasbullah Awang always cut what the other commentator are saying like he knows everything about cycling.
it has been like that for more than a decade... i don't think your "komen-komen yang berbisa" can make any changes...

my best memory of LTDL was 1997 on the stage to Sunway Lagoon... that was one sweet day when i get to eat free ice cream, (accidentally) dined at the riders or media's table setted up by lagoon resort hotel at my hearts content (and no one stopped me)... it was a huge buffet of food

at the end of the day... i went by the pakcik to ask for a few more free water bottles... and as he wanted to close shop and cabut balik rumah... he just gave me a plastic of it half filled which was like 50 or 60 bottles...

i became my ride buddies water bottle supplier for the rest of the year and we were constantly flinging water bottles at cars or anything that offended us on the road...hahahah... young and brash mar....

the ones after that was not so fantastic... one year we watch the crit final stage at dataran merdeka and some policeman tried to saman us for standing on the flower patches (unfortunately, didn't bring IC)...

Weakling competition is it??? you all no fight me lar...

i was already on 11-29T cassette from Token with 6600GS RD way before Apex launched with Wifli. After that i gotten the Sram Apex 11-28T with short cage as shops didn't bring in Wifli stuff.

And i gotten my first 11-32T Wifli Apex cassette as soon as it landed in Malaysia... you all want to claim weakling number one??? you all better line up first vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

Lucky me.

Now on the hunt for 11-28 105 cassette me and my weak weak legs.

The shitty local commentary tides over to football too.

For LTdL, they should hire those retired 20 something local riders working in bicycle shops.

attended an event there ? No Moro Islamic Liberation Front ah ?

i don't watch football (wats so nice about some dudes rubbing each other over a stupid ball??? just give everyone one laaaaarr), but...MILF, i like brows.gif

haiyah... 105 cassette would be hard to come by in 11-28 lar... most 11-28 you see on bikes via oem is all tiagra punya although shimano lists an 11-28 option available...

i would suggest a SRAM PG1050 cassette as that would be easier to get your hands on and no one will know its a SRAM on a shimano bike...

20 something retired??? got so young or not... maybe can try Wong Ah Thiam... he works in rodalink hartamas now...
