lets see hehehehe ..... perodua viva RM$24,912.50.......RM$500.....What is the reflected quantum for new versus old bicycle parts ?
With items that have no returns I prefer to buy 2nd hand. I can be extremely patient.
But I do get you. My goal is to get the old frame road worthy and see if my 15 yr old mistake is an actual mistake at the lowest possible price with reasonably more modern parts.
Hence the 2nd hand 105-5700 groupo.
And to cause further distress (for some of you), I have an old Giant MTB saddle on it =P (for the time being).
Last but not least uber heavy but new Fulcrum 7s (Clydesdale here) which I shall for sure kill. I shall be buying new tires/tubes.
There is a new headset and CF TT fork on it made by Trigon. It looks odd with the 1" headtube.
New Campag 'STI' guides and Fuji CF seatpost (this I got really cheap, but heavy).
well, it's my favourite saying... watever yanks your chain dude...
i couldn't bear to buy 2nd hand parts even if it was dirt cheap for reasons that i could not factor into like longevity of the used parts and condition of it....
sometimes, small little things like worn pulleys on an RD can cause premature chain wear and stuff and a derailleur could have been bent out of shape that you could not notice until you mount it on a bike...
else, if the pricing is really not too far off... i would rather save up a bit more for a new part...
you still have a 1" steerer tube??? can find the fork somemore?

Honestly I did not. I tried to watch it last year but the online stream won't even load. They're more eager to show each and every rider crossing the finish line than show the actual racing. Commentators don't know the difference between sprinters and GC men. And what is the point of the helicopter when I can't see shit?
Good luck trying to compete with the Tour of Dubai next year. Such a shame considering we actually have local riders and local fans showing up. Can't fight oil money though.
well, i don't understand the mentality of the coverage as well... at least sometimes eurosport does a lengthy coverage of it although not live... but it offers alternative rather than the so awful RTM...
even that many years back... LTDF was only a 30mins coverage on mega TV under ESPN (for those who still remember it, pre-astro days)... and those 30 mins was definitely not enough and you crave for more of it... LTDL one the other hand was somewhat a pain to watch even though it was the same 30 mins...
well... even the china tours and other asia tours is threatening LTDL... and they don't have oil backings...while we have...
