Does anybody have big baby?
And can share about ya baby growth till 1-2 years old. Means how is ya baby height and weight when reaching 1-2 years old, and how's ya baby appetite.

My baby is 7+ week old, and his weight is 5.93 kg and 62 cm height.
Paed mention that he is like a 5-6 month old baby... shocking.gif shocking.gif
Paed also mention that he do encounter big baby and it's kinda normal. blink.gif blink.gif

My baby feed is about 2.5 - 3 hours interval and drink formula milk and occasionally bf.

Waa.. about the same as ya baby.. icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif
My baby was born with 3.37 kg and 51 cm

Usually we weight baby using this method:
- Get a normal weighing device
- Weight myself, A
- Weight myself + baby, B
Then baby weight = B - A

How much do you feed your baby per session?
When he was born, he weighed 3.15kg, 50cm.
At 8 weeks, he was 61cm and weighed about 5.6kg. He's now 9 weeks.
His growth rate is shocking!
He's got a big appetite though, taking in 4oz every 3-4 hours, and that's already under control. Or else he can just consume 4oz every 2 hours.
I'm scared to imagine how big he's gonna be if he's not on his current diet now...

thanks to growth hormones in nearly every food we consume, baby size will surely get larger as generations go by. but it will come to a point where food will become too little on this planet and all the sizes will reduce again smile.gif

Actually big or small doesnt really matter as long as healthy. My son is 2 years old but now 17 - 18kg. When he was born, he is 3.9kg. When the paed mark my son on the graph, everything is break record!!! And the dr said that graph is from USA for westerner but yet both my son exceed it. Their father (my hubby) is 6'3". I agree with what most say here, gene plays a role.

Just so you know you're not the only one out there, so everything's fine! smile.gif

TS was your baby big at birth?

Diabetics tend to have big babies. Genes is also a contributory factor.

Normally a baby would lose some weight during the first week then gradually put on weight.

Your baby seems fine, the doctor said so too.

Yes, I do :-) I'm currently using the black & white flash cards for my 3 month old baby. Most of the time she will look attentively on the cards. Good way to calm her down ;-)

Actually my baby eat quite a lot. My parents believe to give as much as he can eat. My in law believe to control the diet not to expand the tummy unnecessarily. If we go out for dinner, he can eat one big rice like adult and often more. He is also very very active, run, fall down, etc. Just like normal kids but every time fall down, continue running, not scared. As for the height, not sure cause have not measure recently. Now that you asked, I also become curious. Will try to measure tonight.

No, he's not chubby but big bone like his father. It's inconvenient for me to post up a photo on the internet because I'm paranoid over this missing kids incident else I would have shared one here.

If you are using Apple products, you can download iPediatric to track development of your baby. I like this app and I can record down all my LO milestone ie first teeth, first solid, when he starts crawling, etc.

My LO's record:

Gender: Boy

Birth: 3.36 kg / 51 cm
2 months: 5.40 kg / 60 cm
3 months: 6.30 kg / 63.5 cm
4 months: 7.32 kg / 67 cm
6 months: 8.00 kg / 72.5 cm

My LO's weight is on average but height is mostly 97 percentile.

MY LO

Birth : 3.73kg / 53cm
8mths : 11.8kg /78cm

*gotta dig his growth chart and update this soon

he's really big! Wearing 18-24mths baby cloth. But i think it is normal because i myself is 187cm and my wife is 175cm.

Gosh, 97 percentile for head circumference ? In the future, he will be very bright and clever!! According to the recent article I read, bigger head baby have bigger brain thus higher IQ. How I envy big head babies!

I got similar situation on my first baby. I even need to eat painkiller and many other pills that I don't remember. Even need MRI to check. Bcoz it worsen till I can't even write. Then, cannot tahan already. Doctor say really cannot carry your child anymore if I want to get better. So, I find ways to play with my baby so I need not carry him. Then, I found that he like to play with his blanket. So, I'm saved.

Try to find other ways to entertain your baby besides carrying. smile.gif

My boy's at birth is 3.0kg/51cm. Came out thin but but always have long feeding time. So, gain weight really fast. I remember at 9 months, I brought my baby to the clinic. Babies still have to undress everything to scale (lie down to scale because still cannot stand up). The nurse tell me, "Eh...satu tahun ke atas tak payah buka baju. Timbang berdiri saja". Hahaha...you can imagine how big he is. He is not fat u know...just solid and tall.

TS: Find a good 跌打 (chinese physiotherapist), rather than get tonnes of medicine. This case, meds can't heal you. Also, a tukang urut bidan (I think that's what they call) for your wife. My area, I go for malay/siamese (thai style) really good. Can help ease the pain.

Try to observe what catches your babies attention. I got my son on a baby walker around 5+ months since he likes to jump. When I hold him, he just jumps non-stop. I counted once you know...1000 times! I yg tak tahan. I stopped him, he's not even tired yet.

What else I did:

Lay down a thin big mattress on the floor. Play toss around. Make it exciting. Boxing with teddy bear...let him punch also. Play inside blanket or a tent. Some more you can lie down more...hahaha

And many more...you'll get more creative from there smile.gif

Walau... 1000 times shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif
now i can see baby got lots of energy inside him

So far, we know baby like water... i think it's because I've always turn on the tap water in the bathroom to sooth him when he cry.
Now when I bring him to the bathroom, he'll look very focus on the sink... sweat.gif
And he also like to stand and sit, and don't like to lie down rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
I kinda like the ideas that you suggested... Thanks smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif
