If I only have a 3K monthly salary, IMHO, I would not think of any cars above RM50,000k...
FYI, maintenance on the CRZ is not cheap... after monthly H&P, there is hardly any leeway for emergency cases. Then again, it looks like your family is helping you pay part of the car's H&P, so I guess you should be fine (no rental to pay, home-cooked food, not need to worry about electricity + water bills). Or go for side income, like what Ilyas have mentioned, it will help.
Always remember not to be slaves to the car, life's too short to be one smile.gif

As for the oil, Honda does not allow outside oil to be used at official Service Centers, or that is what they claim. If you know any of the Service Advisors, maybe they can do an exception on that rule (I have not met one). I use full syn engine oil on my CRZ, 5W-30 only. Honda's 0W-20 is way to thin for my liking thus I switch to use Torco 5W-30.
*
If I bring my own honda genuine oil, possible?

I have side income by selling car and also car insurance.

QUOTE(gunplakk @ Mar 4 2013, 01:00 PM)
a bit tight lor... not impossible. coz need to budget for servicing, petrol, wear and tear like tyres, and yearly things like insurance which can be up to 2K with NCD, that makes it a bit harder.
*
What to do. This year bonus for next year insurance.

not convince with K20, how much hp can get out of it? if similar to FD2, then not much point, unless FD2R lo tongue.gif....
Some more, change engine... abit scary to me... too major, SC not so difficult. for me, a bit of boost enuf lor... not need fly to the moon. I think can get up to 160-70.. maybe by then the SCkits even more advance

I think Ilyas was referring to the K20A, the Civic Type-R version.

SC kits have more maintenance aspects than an engine swap (if it is done properly), and SC can also have overheating problems once pushed hard consistently. It is also pushing the boundaries of the 1.5L LEA engine capability to get 160-170hp out of it on the wheels (which means about 190 hp on the crank, I smell broken conrods and bent crankshafts), as the engine was never designed to deliver such power. You still have to think if the stock 6-speed gearbox can handle such power or not (burnt clutches are not uncommon on a Stage 1 supercharger), and the transmission of that power to the wheels (crank and driveshafts).

If you are thinking of getting about 160-170hp from the engine, it is much better for u to go for K20A, as you minimize issues related to the LEA engine & its parts. The parts on the LEA engine are designed to have a certain range of tolerance, but definitely not to 170hp.

well, dont really need until 190.... just feel that changing the entire engines seems like a bit too major. Also, changing to an engine which will be rather old by then... does not sound very appealing. Still long way to go for me b4 i embark on modding. Definitely something I will keep researching from time to time and see what are the latest ideas & new products.

the battery is built to last 15 yrs or 240000km. It was in an interview with the Project leader for CRZ dev team on Paultan's website.

No I wasn't ok with it, and neither is the shut-down of the engine.
I hated the auto-stop so much I decided to kill it off..... kinda suck to have to sweat inside a nice car, and late take-off when the lights turn green (for the engine to start back up).
