Does SC really upgrade to a bigger drum? I've learnt that the entire drum brake system are directly inherit from 2008 Shawie, which has a BIGGER spindler. Reason for this was a correction for old Shawie tayar always cabut bcoz the spindler too thin, bearing easy to gosoked & wear off. So, by 2008 Plotong decided to make a recall for Shawie, to replace with GaGa's thicker spindler. Other than that, the brake hub, brake cylinder, brake shoe remain 2005 Shawie base. Now my question is, will the bigger spindler resulting the brake cylinder to expand further? The answer is no. But it will definitely affect the brake hub rotation. If wheels are not spinning in a balanced manner, it will create indistictive knocking sound. So, here's some thought:

1. bearing were senget, whilst wheel spinning create knocking sound, feels like wheel balancing is out
2. brake cylinder unable to retract(jammed). As driver hit the brakes, the jammed cylinder unable to make hard contact to brake hub, as a result knocking sound can be heard DURING braking
3. brakehub oval shaped/imbalance. As driver hit the brakes, brake shaft pushing brakeshoe to make contact with brakehub, & the oval shaped hub will reject the brakeshaft create not only knocking sound, together with vibration.

Drum brake issues, according to magician, it is neccessarily to take out the hub & blow away excessive brake powder. Reason being, the hub base was designed WITHOUT breather, thus eleminate water being flow in, so to have a slightly longer lasting wheel bearing. However, brake dust will also being trapped inside the brake hub forever unless 1 open it up & blow it. Its like wearing underwear to protect lil bro, but not letting it out to chill can cause subsequent "complication".

I am trying to practice this & see how long my brakes can last. The last time I service & changed new brake cylinder was only few weeks ago. Not too expansive, but already bore a hole in my pocket. Ayam hoping regular maintenance can help to extend the interval of brake cylinder rosaking incidents.

A quick tip from lhwj, stop the car at flat surface, set shift to Neutral. Release handbrake & try to push the car forward by hand, feel whether the car is draggy. If yes, most probably a jammed cylinder. Otherwise could be the hub or the bearing. Hope this help.

Last year before price hike oso got raya promotion. RM2.4k discount for showroom unit is virtually no discount after price hike this year. Try to negotiate a bit more see can or not lor. To me, its not very attractive. Buy a 1 year old used FLX SE get discount of RM10k++
