Just want to share what i did today..
I'm running Cm Roms with Faux and Matrix kernel. This what i get. monitoring for 30 min with screen and playing Little empires games(online) with 3g on. All kernel with default setting. i disable sync and location. faux005 kernel:ondemand 20% Drop faux005:intellidemand 19-20% drop Matrix v6.0 ocgpu 16-17% drop. so far i get matrix is the best for battery life. im gonna try motley kernel soon. |

QUOTE(cowithgun @ Jan 27 2013, 08:15 PM) you can do that if you modify the kernel and recompile it. alternatively, you may flash OC kernel made by other developers. im using the same volt..i am lucky, i got a "Faster" CPU. there is quite a big difference between "slow", norminal, fast and faster CPU. for example, at 1.5ghz the vdd for each CPU type (these are in the default kernel): Slow: 1250000 Norminal: 1200000 Fast: 1150000 If you got a "Fast" cpu, in that freq, you save 8% power compare to the "Slow". It will not translate to pure 8% since this is just the cpu, other components remains the same. For my phone, at 1.5ghz, i m just using 1000000 vdd. that is like 20% more power saving! i m using that as my default max speed, which can overclock to 1.8ghz if necessary during benchmarking. i can probably push it higher if i change the thermal throttle from the default 60c to 75c. but i like to keep the system as "stock" as possible. i just change the freq table that is all for now... 1.5g = 1000000.. 0.2 = 700000... |

QUOTE(cowithgun @ Jan 27 2013, 08:38 PM) it's actually not very accurate if you test like that since battery discharge rate is not actually linear. Yes.I know its nt really accurate.however, your observation seem consistent with the source: faux kernel: https://github.com/faux123/mako/blob/jb_mr1...lock-8064.c:300 CODE { 1, { 1512000, HFPLL, 1, 0x38 }, L2(15), 1125000 }, matrix kernel: https://github.com/mathkid95/linux_lg_jb/bl...lock-8064.c:237 CODE { 1, { 1512000, HFPLL, 1, 0, 0x38 }, L2(15), 1025000 }, matrix kernel uses less vdd = save more power. of cause, other factor such as CPU governor tweak, early suspent, hotplug, etc will play some role too. bt i feel the different between both of the kernal and more thing that i realize is my n4 less heat when im playing the game. But the 3g still same with faux(sometimes drop)..so matrix might save 10-20% overall. |

QUOTE(cowithgun @ Jan 27 2013, 08:54 PM) hmm.. seem like matrix kernel lowest freq is 288000, which is even lower than default 384000. yes.matrix lowest freq is 0.28...I havent try about music..let you know soon.the last time i tried that on SGW (single core phone), 288mhz is a little too slow; so, if you play music while switch off the phone, music breaking up... may be the S4 quad core will be fine... |

QUOTE(cowithgun @ Jan 28 2013, 12:29 AM) My highest Antutu score: 23647 nicee - 1.7ghz - vdd=1150000 (same as stock kernel vdd at 1.5ghz for "Fast" and "Faster" CPU) - noop IO scheduler - everything else, default, including fsync. for me, not worth to disable fsync just to get some extra speed. it is risky. Even at default 1.5ghz, managed to get: 20741 At this freq, it's only using 100000vdd, phone runs extra cool and save more battery. Galaxy Note 2 benchmark? LOL... eat my dusk! (yeah, i like to pick on Note II, coz most clueless people call it the best Android phone) |
