If you on stock tyres 31 psi is below manufactures recommended minimum. 31psi will be more comfortable but for this car on low profile tyres, recommended minimum is 2.5bar or 36psi for light load. With 31psi you'll see uneven wear on your tyres after a while, the outer edge will wear off quicker.

Thanks for the info I'll have the pressure check. Another thing i realise, the steering wheel jutters when stopping car from around 90 to 110kph. i felt the vibration like uneven disc or perhaps that's the way pug's ABS works. I'll upload a video later. To simulate cruise around the speed range, let go of ur hands and brake (not emergency braking), watch the steering wheel shake. i believe some1 did post something similar in the previous topic. any1 else experience the same?

EDITED: Found the brake vibration topic in AndyPeugeot-Posted

Something wrong with BHP leh. My motor auto shutdown itself everytime i stop at traffic lights.
Shell, Caltex, Petronas, Petron all no problem.

Maybe it's like Benz Eco Mode (Blue Motion)-It'll cut off engine and air-cond at full brake stops.
Does it mean PUG408T has such function that can be enabled?

SC rectified the steering judder for me yesterday.... they said nothing wrong with the disc brake and they didn't change anything... they just said they did some alignment to the brake pad (not sure how true it's).... but everything is smooth now... no more judder

Hope you don't mind me asking the following questions;

1) Did you make appointment with them to get this or just drive in without appointment?
2) Did they charge you?
3) What was the duration for them to fix it? time you put in and drove out?
4) Which SC was this?

Thank you very much and sorry if too many troublesome questions to answer, but appreciate it if can. Thanks.

Hi Patrick,

I chose turbo is because it's affordable to me. However, as I mentioned in my previous post, the ride is rough. It doesn't absorb the road deformity.
2.0NA gives a more comfortable ride compare to turbo.

Second thing about turbo is the leather seat, Post#428

QUOTE(Patrick12 @ Feb 12 2013, 11:34 AM)
Hi all 408 owners,i am sort of undeciding whether to get the turbo or the 2.0NA.in town,i normally drive at about 60 to 80 kph whereas in highway just 100 to 130 kph only.I had tested the turbo, it was so powerful.I plan to use this car for at least 5 to 7 years, so I am worried about the turbo engine might be causing problems in the future.any advise?and any 2.0 owner here why u chose 2.0 instead of turbo?

After a week of use here is a list of my observation and finding of my Pug408T unit.
1) #Defect: Bubble at the driver side door upholstry
2) #Config: Braking and the steering shakes.
3) #Defect: Back passenger left side door, chrome misaligned at the joint between the sliding window and the small glass.
4) #Design: Small glove compartment.
5) #Design: Air cond inside the glove compartment, WTH for?
6) #Design: Non breathable leather seats.
7) #Design: Petrol cover opening mechanism can fail and if does no alt tip to open the cover.
8) #Design: Back passenger doors, need to open wide otherwise it'll swing back and hit the boarding passenger's arm and it can be quite painful. Must makesure to hold the door if elderly / kids are boarding.
9) #Design: Eurokit is a total aesthetic waste of money and marketing gimmick to justify for the extra 3K
10) #Design: You cannot lift up the screen wiper without showing off the AWESOME engine.

Lastly, engine power is awesome and that makes up for some of the drawbacks.

11) #Design: Entertainment unit has no MUTE button compare to the printed diagram in the User handbook, instead they put a TA/PTY button. Which I do not think such service is available or I may be mistaken.

Didn't actually serve by any SA. I ordered the car by phone and paid booking fee online. biggrin.gif
Yes I didn't read the manual but I only found out about it when cleaning the car.

Hi Chan,

Seems like no one answer you here is the answer and it's an addition to the #Design flaw list;

PTY: Program Type. This coding of up to 31 pre-defined programme types – e.g. (in Europe): PTY1 News,
PTY6 Drama, PTY11 Rock music – allows users to find similar programming by genre. PTY31 seems to be reserved for emergency announcements in the event of natural disasters or other major calamities. This allows you to search for ROCK stations, news etc.

TA, TP: Travel Announcements, Traffic Program. The receiver can often be set to pay special attention to this flag and e.g stop the tape or retune to receive a Traffic bulletin. The TP flag is used to allow the user to find only those stations that regularly broadcast traffic bulletins whereas the TA flag is used to stop the tape or raise the volume during a traffic bulletin.

Cheong,

Yeh, all #Defect & #Config list item shall be reverted back to SC for fix.
#Design ones 'Bo Pien' it's the DNA can't do much. Unless do own pimping or drive it 2-3 years, sell and buy other cars and the cycle of rebirth continues. flex.gif

Since it's 2.0NA, have you tried the Ford Focus yet?

QUOTE(prody @ Feb 14 2013, 09:01 AM)
2.0 was just within my set budget.

I prefer the fabric seats as they are much cooler when you start to drive the car.

Speed wise it is still a good car, you just need to floor it. smile.gif

I feel that it's good to tell both side of the stories and let readers (undecided - fence sitters) to make a better judgement for themselves.
There is always imperfection with any vehicles and their after sales services. Even buying very reliable car, there will bound to be a minute defect for an unlucky owner to so happen to get that unit.
Once that happens that owner's perception may likely forever be marred by his/her misfortune.
However, this forum (very active thread topic), has the ability to allow mature discussion of the flaws, drawbacks, strengths which helps Peugeot indirectly.
I say Peugeot should sponsor us teh tarik for our contribution.

I was in Teluk Intan last week, not a single 408 spotted. Saw a 508, 3008 and one 308T. 408s quite rare breed....except of course at Peugeot's 3S center biggrin.gif

QUOTE(lowpro @ Feb 16 2013, 09:25 AM)
i guess sales is slow because potential new owners are shying away due to the scary stories told mainly by the 308T 4-speed owners. it is a fact though that the 4-speeder needs more tlc than the succeeding models but still, the market has come to accept that perception as reality. it will be very hard to change that perception already even with good pricing and specification for the 408.

imho, the only way to change that perception is for this group to stand up and say, "there are no issues with our cars". do note, whatever posted on the internet is seen worldwide. and if people worldwide can see the posts, what more malaysia? to a large extent, the public outcry by 308T 4-speed owners against the cars they bought and against the company that sells those cars has hurt the owners even more. trying to get the company's attention is one thing (there are proper ways to do it) but hurting resale values is another that they never thought would happen. it is a fact and it is happening right now. go ask any used car dealer whether they would take in a 4-speed 308T or not and at how much would they take it in. then ask about the 6-speeder.

there's an old saying "don't air one's dirty laundry in public". The same applies here where dirty laundry has been aired and the public has seen and taken note of it. hopefully if you guys have issues with your cars, you would take it up with the seller discreetly. or if you need to post it, then post it online positively. see that vw owners rarely complain about their dsg riddled issues and other matters. likewise, bmw owners. they know the strength of the internet and they also know they will want to sell their cars off one day and they would want the market to readily accept a second hand unit. do think about what is posted. it has far reaching consequences. i'm not saying don't post the negatives. just post it in a way that you would want a potential buyer of your car a few years down the road to see that post of yours.

just my early morning 2-cents worth on the 'resale' matter, and the 'why so few 408 on the road' matter. in my condo there is a jetta, a focus but no 408. sad.

Thought would like share a comparison note. After 3 weeks owning PUG I noticed the tyres they've given were <<Conti MC5>>>
But the manufacturing batch was different. Were yours the same?

QUOTE(lowpro @ Feb 17 2013, 12:35 AM)
that is your point of view and i respect that but the fact remains that word has gone out, word has been spread and the result is the small number of peugeot you see on the roads today. mature discussion or otherwise, i guess it is left to owners to decide how best to use the forum. personally i feel, if you wan't peugeot's attention, get a group and call for a meeting with them through one of many clubs out there and get the discussion minuted. that would be more direct and effective (and follow up on the meeting) rather than hoping (if they don't even bother to monitor this, the only losers will be the owners) they see what's written in forums.

just my point of view on the matter.
*
I agree to let owners decide. However like you said, it's been spread out and resulting small number of peugeot on the roads, which can be a good thing (looking from a positive angle) - exclusivity.
I was kidding with the teh tarik part. biggrin.gif

Before I mark this down as design limitation I need to check with you guys/gals.

(1) If you've driven in the rain or after washing your pug, open the back to access the enormous boot space peugeot 408 has to offer.
Did you notice the way the water trickles down from the boot cover? It'll wet the interior of your boot.
Are you guys/gals experiencing the same?

(2) I have (as my wife said annoying) habit of switching off all electrical devices in the car before killing the ignition. I think for ppl like me, it's best that the light switch to be in the order of
Auto -> OFF --> Park lights --> ON instead of now the AUTO is in between of OFF and Park lights.

That's my minute observation of the PUG408 this morning. Cheers.

The boot experience gives me the kind of indian nod look in this commercial.
