I think TM will offer upgrade: Rm130 @ 4mbps, RM140 @ 8mbps, RM149 @ Unifi10, RM179 @ Unifi30(~50).

QUOTE(Eralus @ Jul 4 2017, 03:21 PM) Sooner or later, termination of ADSL/copper network at low demand and affluent areas will happen. Maintaining copper and fibre networks are costly. Just like Cellular operators will switch off 2G. |

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ Jul 4 2017, 08:25 PM) Fyi, They are extensively upgrading the infra for subb on my area in fact when i drove back to home from work just now, a group of tm engineers are busy doing the underground work for new cabinet installation. But what shocked me, they just don't touch the existing cabinet at the front of my taman at all. So? They have to keep and maintain the old cabinet till all the users give up copper telephony and ADSL (streamyx) service. New users going for Unifi service will be ported into new VDSL2 cabinet. So both cabinets must be maintained for the time being. Only the cable from the exchange to the new cabinet is Fibre. This post has been edited by ClarenceT: Jul 5 2017, 09:34 AM |

QUOTE(JohnLai @ Jul 5 2017, 10:40 AM) So TM is launching Unifi Lite 10 at RM129/149 (Broadband Improvement Plan 2017) to kill Streamyx 2/4/8 in 2017. And TM will cut Unifi Lite price to less than RM100 (Budget 2017) in 2018/9 to kill Streamyx 1/2/4. Others will be replaced by Wireless Webe. This post has been edited by ClarenceT: Jul 5 2017, 12:10 PM |

QUOTE(andyng38 @ Jul 5 2017, 04:26 PM) If we upgrade from 8mbps to Unifi Lite now, we'll be locked in for 2 yrs at RM129/149+GST. Legally you can change or downgrade to any new Unifi package after 24 months (anytime for upgrade). Not sure if the subscription fee will be automatically reduced.Assuming your info for 2018/19 pricing is correct, we'll be squeezing balls while others are paying much lower prices Price drop will not happen in the next few months, as TM is busy on HSBB2/SUBB (till 2019) and they need your money for capital investment (2017/18). If you are Streamyx users, better migrate to Unifi now, as you are paying for better service, but paying more or less the same. Why wait for something that you don't know when or if it will happen. Not much you may save (24 months from now). |

QUOTE(andyng38 @ Jul 5 2017, 05:00 PM) If you believe in what Pak Jib presented in Budget 2017, it will be upgraded to 20mbps in 2019 and paying less. And, for few of forumers already taking Unifi Lite 10 at RM129, they are waiting for TM tele-marketers to call them and offer a upgrade for discounted price (maybe +RM10 for 30mbps, as someone have got 100mbps for less than RM200). |

QUOTE(summerdx @ Jul 7 2017, 11:34 AM) Hello guys, currently I'm subscribing streamyx 4mbps with RM140 per month and the 1 year contract already ended long time ago. I heard there is a promotion speed upgrade form 4 mbps to 8 mbps with the same price by renewing the contract to 2 years. Therefore, I went to TM point asked for it, the officer told me that my living area don't support 8mbps since the wire still using copper and the maximum speed for my living area only 4 mbps and there are still no fiber optic support. The officer also told me that if I really want to upgrade the speed to 8 mbps, she can do it for me via their system but the speed may not stable and I may easily get disconnect. My question is should I upgrade my internet speed to 8 mbps or stick with the old package? Here are my ADSL detail: Stay till next year. You will be offered to upgrade to Unifi Lite if you stay at urban or sub-urban area.Upstream Power 9.0 dBm Downstream Power 12.0 dBm Adsl Line Status SHOWTIME.L0 Adsl Mode G992.5 Up Stream 511 kbps Down Stream 5119 kbps Attainable Up Stream 1279 kbps Attainable Down Stream 21884 kbps Attenuation Down Stream 18 Attenuation Up Stream 7 SNR Margin Down Stream 29.4 SNR Margin Up Stream 25.3 |

QUOTE(JuneResources @ Jul 21 2017, 11:39 AM) Thanks for your advice. When Unifi Lite is available to you, especially FTTH, grab it. When you want it, TM may tell you all the available ports have been taken up by your neighbours. Don't expect TM should always keep spare ports for you.May I know estimation cost of adapter how much? As I planning to move on Unifi lite (havent decisions yet, bt mayb next yr already), I just wish to get adapter very basic only (not nid so good quality one) As I knw this type of streamyx modem unable to use again during Unifi |

When it is almost ready for service, you will see those wearing orange shirts setting up a booth on your street. They are more eager than you. |

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ Jul 27 2017, 09:42 AM) I don't think so. Depends on the street cabinet cabinet as well. My 8mbps was set to 10mbps port but still didn't manage to upgrade to unifi lite. For unifi lite vdsl, your port must be able to set to 13mbps for download and 6mbps upload. Only vdsl-able dslam (VB and VC coding cabinet) are able to set that limit. It may be Streamyx 10Mbps (ADSL), instead of Unifi 10Mbps (VDSL/FTTH)! |
