Hi, I'm currently in my extended semester which I'm suppose to finish by DEC 2012 (started on Jan 2010). My course is a 4 years course with a year exemption for me.

The problem started when my faculty sent my batch (7 of us) for Industrial Training during long semester(Aug 2011). The faculty has always been sending student for industrial training during short semester. When we resume our academic learning on early 2012, the faculty told us we aren't able to graduate on time because we have short of a long semester. When we ask how can this things can happen, their only reply was "I'm sorry, I misread the accreditation rules". And asked me to enroll for this semester (Jan 2013), which I have to choke up RM6k plus.

Anyway, we have to accepted the fact we have an extra semester. When ask for compensation, they gave RM800 deduction of resource fees, free twin-sharing hostel and a job (RM1.2K/month). I declined their hostel and their job offer as I have to get more income as both of my parents are retired and are depending on me. (They have used up their money on my education on believing that I can graduate in 3 years time). I got a job offered from my previous intern company.

On the other hand, I still have to go to class on every Monday (10am to 12pm) with no flexibility and excuses and telling me that is not the faculty's jurisdiction.

To make matter worst, every time I go for class my salary from my job will be deducted as I have to take unpaid leave and now I barely able to pay for everything.

If you are in this situation what should I do? and is there anyone willing to help me? I'm extremely desperate, stressed until there are thoughts for me to just go for suicide.

I did even write a message to them via FB and the return was, the they called me and asked me why did I post stuff in the FB.

complain to the Higher Education Board.

I believe you are from Engineering faculty, CMIIW.

You should try to seek for AAD (Academic Affairs Division), and talk to the respective staffs, like real staffs, not their assistant.

Still doesn't work? Go to Level 4, Top Management office. I'd do that if I were you, til I get proper explanation and compensation.

You're almost at the finish line already... just suck it up for a while... 5 years from now you're going to look back and go "boy.. that was probably the worst months of my life.. I'm glad I'm out of it"

Do you know that, I have got their attention by posting the complaints at their fb page, and they reply me with the Dean calling me personally and asking me to stop posting the message and asking me to settle things personally with him. During the discussion, he personally promises me to minimize the burden and so on. Yet it comes out a lie too.

Even much explanation that I have people to taken care off, they offered me RM1.2K with non-negotiable terms. I have to decline because it too little. During that time, my Intern company boss helped me by offering a position.

And i believe that, they stop student to go to level 4. As i have tried several times.

The thing is, I'm very doubt that down that 5 years later, I will still be at here or not. Because, is too hard for me to swallow the burden. I constantly thinking of how secure my future especially for both my parents.
