Hi. I've changed to a new set of tires. 195/55/15. Previously using Hankook. Now i'm using Maxxis Ma-Z1. my problem is... after changing tyre, i felt vibration when speeding from 110 kmh and above. I've done on wheel balancing, still doesn't help. My rims are ok. Any idea what may cause the problem?

p/s: my previous tyre didn't have this problem at all, especially when i've done on wheel balancing.

do on/off wheel balancing, check alignment, check if steering rack / bushing etc all in proper condition.

off wheel balancing - done
on wheel balancing - done
allignment - done
steering rack / bushing etc all in proper condition - everything is still good

but my tyres is still vibrating when speeding 110 kmh and above

with car lifted, try to move/shake the tire, see if there are any loose/abnormal movements

if this is still fine, try swapping rims with the tires. (either among your own rim, or try out with other rims, see if got spares/shop can borrow or something)

will do that, maybe tomorrow and hopefully get better result

When the tyre is on the balancing machine, do take note if there are movements in the tyre/wheel when it is spinning.

Also check if there is abnormal corrosion or dirt on the mounting surface between the wheel and the brake discs, preventing the wheel from being mounted properly.

Check your suspension components for play and also your driveshafts.

I had a case of vibration that is due to the driveshaft being bent.

If all fails, ask the shop to change the tyre.

looks like i have to change driveshaft first to find out if there is still a problem. damn this is so annoying. thanks guys

Before tyre change any problem? If no problem, it means tyres r no good. Simple

do confirm if your drive shaft are actually damaged/unbalance (eg: use another set of wheels, rims and/or tires)

don't just simply change

noted that. must check with my pomen first before change to new drive shaft

I just switch my back tyre to front I also did my tyre balancing and alignment
But some how when I drive above 110km/h steering will some times vibrate....

i suspect my tyre is damaged too. but then, i have to check my drive shaft with my foremen first. if it's good, then must be my tyre

Just make sure the mechanic checks it first. Put it on a hoist and let the car run and see if there is any abnormal movement.


BTW, how much vibration are you talking about? A lot? or just a bit?

found out that the tyres not round.....
going to replace it soon

Imho, this normally happens when car tyres not enough pressure or left idle for quite some time, thus recommended to put extra pressure to the tires, especially tyres with soft sidewalls.

Your inspira on still on stock / oem 215/50R17 Continental MC5 tyres, or the 205/60R16 Continental CC5 ?

Imho, perhaps can try other premium comfort tyres like Yokohama Advan dB , Toyo Proxes C1S, Bridgestone GR90, Goodyear Eagle EfficientGrip

actually there already defects on the tyre when i receive the car some how i want to claim from continental but they reject me
i tot i drive a while the tyre going to be ok some how it never turn better
the tyre i think abuse by the car tester when they do PDI e.g. emergency brake
