Frequently Asked QuestionsNFC - What is all about? What is NFC and how does it work?» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
NFC is a short-range wireless connectivity technology to enable communication between electronic devices in close proximity.
The way NFC works is your NFC enabled device sends out radio frequency signals that interact with an NFC tag. The signal creates a current that flows through the NFC tag and allows the device and the tag to communicate with one another.
What is NFC Tag?» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Think of an NFC tag as a really small memory device, like a USB stick, but with an antenna attached so it can send it's data wirelessly. It contains no batteries and gets all it's power from just being close to the mobile phone.
Commonly, a tag will be a sticker, perhaps the size of a postage stamp. But it can also be embedded into keyfobs, wristbands and lots of other things.
How is the user experience?» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
The beauty of NFC is in its simplicity. Once the tag has been encoded with the desired information or action, the tag is ready to use.
The user simply touches the back of the phone against the tag. This will launch the URL, application or service encoded.
No lining up cameras with barcodes, no downloading apps just to scan, no fuss. Simple.
Will NFC drain my smartphone's battery?» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
In terms of battery consumption, NFC is completely off unless the device is on and unlocked. When it is on, consumption is very low. NFC is also accounted for 0.5% of power consumption.
Given that it's disabled when the screen is off, you're looking at less than that averaged over regular use of your phone.
Which one is more superior; NFC or Bluetooth?» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Unlike Bluetooth, NFC can interact with another device with a single wave of your smartphone. It’s fast and requires little effort on your part. In contrast, Bluetooth connections take time and require many steps to activate.
With such a close range between devices required, the potential for signal interference or hackers trying to steal your data is reduced.
And if you want to know, Bluetooth consumes a chunk of your smartphone’s power while NFC typically consumes much less.
Best of all, if you really need to establish a constant connection and you don’t want to spend an hour standing nose-to-nose with your coworker, near field communication can connect your smartphones before turning the signal over to another technology, such as Bluetooth, giving you the best of both worlds in terms of speed and distance.
How can I use NFC tag by Tap Tap?How close do I have to be for the NFC tag to work?» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
NFC tags typically operate within three to six centimetres. This close range makes NFC perfect for interaction and means that tags can't 'accidently' be read or used for unwanted tracking.
How can you program our Tap Tap's nfc tags?» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
They are various android apps which you install into your smartphones. There are three awesome apps which are developed by Tagstand that caught my attention and work like charm.
The applications are:
NFC Task LauncherAutomatically switch between car, home and office profiles using this application. You just have to put an Tap Tap's NFC tag in your car, home, office and bedroom and automatically change settings, and launch apps by touching our tag.
The cool things you can do are such as:
-Turn on Bluetooth, turn off Wifi and start your favorite music app when you place it in a dock or scan a tag in your car
-Set your ringer to vibrate, dim the display and set an alarm when you scan a tag on your night stand
-Start up Wifi and automatically connect to your home network when you come home.
LinkNFC Task Launcher SMS PluginThis is a plugin for NFC Task Launcher that will allow the "Text Message" functionality to automatically send a text message rather than pre-populate the SMS data in a text message application.
However, this does not insert a message into your message history. The SMS is sent directly from the app with no user interaction required.
LinkNFC Task Launcher Call PluginThis is a plugin for NFC Task Launcher that will allow the "Call" functionality to place a call rather than open the dialer with the number pre-populated.
For note, you must have NFC Task Launcher installed for this to work.
Link#Unfortunately, there is still no good apps from Blackberry and Windows appstore which I can share with you at the moment. If you have found one, kindly tell us, ok?
