Yo man just have a try putting a book and putting a cooler pad under the laptop really different.I was used to put a book under my lappy. After that, i prefer cooler pad because it really makes different!! smile.gif  smile.gif Especially the position of the fan is towards to the right place thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif !

It actually does not make difference...! I have tested it personally with programs... Im using a dell and there is a program that can detect critical parts temperature. That is CPU, RAM, GPU, HDD.

I've tested with a coolermaster cooling pad and the result is BAD! camparing temps between with and without the cooling pad... ALL area of temperature REMAINED THE SAME except that the RAM cooled down by a mere 1-2 degree...! how sad.... Also if your CPU fan position is located above any of the cooling pads fan, that would be a BAD BAD idea as the hot air would be pushed back into the machine instead of blowing out....!

So i would say the best way to keep your notebook well ventilated would be putting it on a surface where its ventilation would not be blocked... Putting it directly on the bed is a BIG NO.

Isn't?? I'm also a dell user inspiron 6000 with x300 128mb gc, i'm using my own made cooler to cool it down it really work for me, and i'm using fangui to detect those temp. With cooler playing Most Wanted can cool down around 5 celsiusGC.CPU also can decrease around 5 celsius, that's y i dare to say it really can work. smile.gif

tycheah_7 u r right keep lappy ventilated is very important!! Put it on the bed is the worst, because i've tried it b4,fall a sleep while surfing internet on my bed not only lappy very hot, also suck in hair  doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif ..
Another example, i got a friend using acer's laptop.I don't know which model, the spec is T2400,X1600,14'' LCD.........  with a free gift cheap cooler the temp like hell. While playing NFS Underground 2 .CPU can up to 90celsius then laptop turn off. Therefore i suggest him to DIY a cooler for his lap top then it works. No more automatic off while playing underground 2 and the temp is reduced to around 80~. smile.gif  smile.gif  This is my experience. laugh.gif  laugh.gif

sad.gif Question!!! Is 70-80celsius is normal for a 14'' laptop's cpu's temp,(with GC) while playing most wanted or underground?? sad.gif  sad.gif

Well, for me the performance is so small that i would ditch the darn cooler away... Im using inspiron 600m and my CPU temp during 100% would max at 60 degrees.. This is with playing NFS Carbon... The key to this was tweaking the CPU core voltage...! Before I've done this, gaming would be very hot where CPU temp reaches 70 degrees. Man, acer even goes up to 90? WTF...! Can cook a damn egg!!!! I guess thats the difference with a taiwanese brand and a US brand....

Btw, my cpu idles at 36 degrees. Nothing compared to those new duo core CPU which idles around at 29 degrees.... But what the heck, I've been using my machine for almost 2 years. Its running on Dothan 755 @ 2Ghz so u could imagine its a older architecture after all.... Still going strong with this machine, and i could remember how much i spent on this thinge....! RM7200...!!! I could get a monster machine at this price now!! shakehead.gif
