HU can be changed without compromising steering mounted controls. Provided the replacement HU is a compatible model with our Forte lor.
But if u really want, I've a contact to a sound man who can work anything out for you.
He helped my friend 'reattach' his steering controls to a new HU for Vios. I was there to witness the entire work, and I must say, his work is pretty neat (as in no wire tapping, no loose wires, etc.).

Same goes for the DRL, you can install kill switch. The same guy mentioned above 'kao tim'.
Also, IMHO, there already is a ready space for you to pasang the button/switch. Next to the TCS switch
