regarding the Region "problem",the ps3 is supposed to be region free,so every console from anywhere can play games from any region.
how would that effect publishing rights?

some games like i ninja (IIRC) was publish by a 3rd party company in the states,but publish by SONY in Europe.as a result,it was a ps2 exclusive in Europe.

if sony's region free ps3 means the publishers MUST secure the rights to publish each game the world over,would that cause problems?

another example:
last time i checked ff9 was published,in USA:
by Square EA.(square and EA)
in Europe:
Eidos(IIRC  )
in Japan:
Squaresoft

so if there is no region,then when final fantasy comes out in japan,square-enix would have to publish it everywhere?

FYI,pirates dont publish.
they just take and reproduce without paying royalty fees.

maybe the initial publisher (whether its EA, Ubisoft or Capcom) just release one version worldwide. different language packs will be offered via download. this can work for fighting, action, driving, sports games. RPGs are a different beast all together.
