it's a loss, but for a few minutes in the second half i absolutely love what i saw. i saw everyone giving 100%, everyone fighting for the ball, everyone moving with spirit. we shouldve scored during that period, if we did we couldve won today. first half was speechless, but second half i am seeing a fighting arsenal. we even did a man utd-esque pressing towards the end of the game. not something we do too often.

for real? gibbs santi wilshere was bombarding the left flank, as they couldnt play against cole on the right flank. walcott had to cut inside to get space

QUOTE(kazek @ Jan 21 2013, 12:31 AM) Just need to be patient. He is a new league and in a new team. Can't expect him to adapt right away. Miguel Michu.with santi now occupying LW, wouldnt it be fair to let podolski get a crack at the ST position? walcott got his chance, provided goals, giroud got his chance, provided assists. |

therefore, do not be surprised if jack left for man utd/city in 3-4 years. the guy is a winner.
if i'm jack, i'd like to stay as long as possible in arsenal and try to do my best to win in arsenal. but if the best players leave year in year out, and no suitable replacements are being made, i'd begin to question the club's direction, and look for alternatives. three of the club's best players when jack broke into the 1st eleven had left and is tasting success (Cesc at Barca, Nasri won the league, RVP well on his way), and that's probably the way i'd look too... ... unless the club starts getting in players. the only attraction Arsenal has now is a CL spot, and if we lose that this season, getting players in the next transfer window would be difficult. which is why we need an Arshavin-esque transfer to save this season, and make sure we still play in the CL. after all, that's worthy of a trophy itself eh wenger? if no transfers are made, sure we can still clinch the 4th spot w/o transfers, but the path is going to be very difficult. sure we have financial issues, but if we fail to qualify for CL a bigger problem will present itself than debt - inability to recruit players, lost revenue from playing in CL itself. sure we can just rebuild from a below-4th spot finish, but we're up there for the last i dont know how many years, why not keep it that way? it's not too late to recruit! sure, recruiting's not going to solve our problems immediately but it's one of the ways. i do not see any effort in rectifying this mess we're in. and again, we dont know s!@# about the internal situation within the club, maybe something's not allowing wenger to spend. but as a fan, i clearly feel the club needs to do something about the situation, and as a fan i feel frustrated at the lack of transfer activity this january. i'll be hoping something crops up towards the end of the window, just to signal some intent. and as a fan, i find it humiliating for teams to play us, score 2 goals, and then just take the foot off the pedal and cruise. it's like they're not interested in scoring anymore, they'd rather save energy for future fixtures than pile misery on a rival. or maybe that's because we sleep in the first half, then realize the nightmare that's happening and then start playing. well i hope they're not sleeping now, because the nightmare that we're not in a healthy position to secure that CL spot is a bright reality |

QUOTE(Quick` @ Jan 22 2013, 07:50 PM) occassionaly i take a poke at the squad for playing poorly but it's just that what i say doesn't really affect much, its not like my words reaches AW thus instead of cont ranting,i just do my part in getting behind the current squad blind faith they say, oh well..so be it i understand fans getting a bit emotional after a bad game, we have feelings after all. i get extremely emotional when i watch a game, and i'd spend the whole day getting happy/sad over one game. but after that day i just resume being positive/ignorant. after all, what we do doesnt matter to the club anyway, so why get so worked up? ... tho i gotta admit i find the lack of activity on the market rather frustrating, haha. arsene wenger did say something about Diame tho, smth about how diame changes every game he plays. heard he has a pretty cheap release clause on his contract too, so i definitely see something materializing there |

QUOTE(silentown @ Jan 23 2013, 04:34 PM) well u ARE talking about jussi... w/o him i'd imagine goals conceded would be far worse than they are right nownot sure which lineup i prefer.. a lukas/giroud/walc or a lukas/walc/AOC. i'd probably vote start with giroud, if things dont go as planned we can put in the speed of AOC in the 60+ minute to torment the tired fullbacks. |
