Hi all..

need quick advice and help..

I am a Masters graduate in Telecom Engg from Monash University, Australia. Currently in Dubai on job hunt and living with family. I applied to Huawei for some telecom related positions and a management position. I got a call and have a HR Interview tomorrow. The position is Project Manager
(Engineering Project Management). they required 2 years of exp and asked for management experience , both of which i dont have. Nonetheless the interview is tomorrow and i prepared myself both technically and got a Project Management book and studied the basics.

Any advise on how much salary i should ask for? How exactly are the HR interviews you have gone through? and biggrin.gif what are my chances ?

cheers

If you working now, just ask based on your current pay.  If you fresh, just ask for expected salary, for Master pay, not very sure ne, but always in the market price la, check in jobstreet Salary Report >> http://myjobstreet.jobstreet.com/premium/b...?param=||my||my

Good luck to your interview then.

lol Xing!! thanks for the salute. i am a fresher looking to get into the industry..

i completed the HR interview. The guy was impressed and said he would call me on Sunday to inform me when the next interview would be. He said there would be 3 more rounds. two technical rounds and one meeting with the Director.
havent tlaked about the pay scale as yet. looks like he is gonna offer me a Junior Engineer position. Right now i just want in..

Am lost in my books preparing for the damn Technical interviews on GSM, RF Design and Optimisation, HSDPA, WCDMA..

wish me luck..

thanks for the response..

Hi Melon..

lol dude seriously.. they need me!!! they expanding into a branch out here in Dubai from being just a sub region. they are short of professionals. And dont tell me your starting salary isnt important to you.. that would just be a lie. isnt that what we all work hard for getting through studies and then interviews, to have a life?

i can frankly tell u dat my 1st salary was not important. Coz i know that working experience is the most important element when I was a fresh graduate 7 years ago. But sincerely, i dunno much about the masters degree for ur field. But for MBA, working experience will bring u further. MBA w/o working experience is equal to another paper.

Since u'll be working in Dubai, i guess they can pay u more. Just dun put too high expectation coz dey needed me in China, i've rejected (now, i talk about salary)  whistling.gif

thanks for the reply Melon..

i do understand that experience goes a long way to a persons career and pay scale.

after the HR interview the HR personnel suggested his wanting to put me in the Technical sector of the company. i cudnt be happier as i would love to make a career in RF engineering..

i really hope the salary would cover living costs and save some money to complete a Masters in Engineering Management.

lets hope things go on well..

what i havent figured out yet is why they have two technical rounds.. strange..

cheers

Usually 2 technical interview will be conducted with the combination below:-
1. By your peer/immediate boss
2. By your immediate boss/HOD
Almost there  nod.gif
geez thanks for that.. thumbup.gif i guess that means i would be prob asked the same questions twice..

am so burnt out icon_question.gif after two days of burning the midnight lamp..

i still have RF design calculations to go through while i wait for the HR dude to call me and let me know when the next interview is.

said it would all get over in 2 weeks. really waiting for it to get over sooooooooon....

good luck to everyone giving interviews and making calls !!

i was told that i would be interviewed next by the Line Manager. I never ever heard this position before.. Back home in India a ' Line man' is someone who works out in the field fixing the overhead on underground cables or deals with faults at the customer end.

but i asked the HR what exactly is the role of a Line Manager and he said he leads the RF engineers into different job roles..

anyone else working under Line Managers?

cheers

normally 3rd interview is with dept director.

as for those training in CP Tower, you can get the company's cop for a flat rate of RM10. Not sure if you all can claim from the company while under probation, do check with your supervisor.
