Anyone can help?

I will be going for an interview with Hua Wei soon, the position is:
Global Technical Support Engineer (Wireless Network)

I am an experienced guy and I guess I will be drilled a lot on that day.

Any tips? I am looking at LTE, UMTS systems and some basic electronics to refresh my memories.

If u are experience in rf opti shouldn't be a problem. Remember the practical ie how u solve problems coverage, drop calls etc etc. They ask a lot on ur work experience

QUOTE(Kal-el @ Mar 10 2014, 08:33 PM)
First interview happened on a Saturday, I aced the technical paper and got interviewed by 3 people(department manager, HR manager and a receptionist?) twice. I even aced those interviews. At the end they said thats all for the interviews, no other interviews will be conducted. Just wait for the answer.

1 week later some dude called me and said "we have another opening in Huawei but same position, regional team". He told me to come for a "2nd interview" again to The Icon. At the moment I do live quite far from KL and I felt annoyed that I have to go again. Furthermore I had fever on that day so my dad had to drive me there.

Arrived at the building around 3.50, office 4.00 sharp. HR lady guided me into a small room and told me to wait as she went to call the dude who gonna interview me. 50 minutes later, YES 50 MINUTES! I decided to call HR using my phone and asked her where is the manager. He came in 15 minutes later and simply said that he had meeting earlier so we can start the interview now. No sorry, nothing.

And the best part is he is from China and he cant even construct a simple English sentence to ask about my university and internship experience. Another 20 minutes of not understanding 80% of the things that he said and I'd bet he didnt understand what I was talking about as well. When I ask about this 2nd interview and is this the same department all he replied was yes yes yes yes.

At the end he told me to wait, there is another lady coming to interview me. I was like wtf..... I immediately called HR and told them to hurry up the 2nd interview. A few minutes later the lady who supposed to interview me called and said she will be there in another 20 minutes because she was busy at that moment. I told her that I had to go, my dad been waiting downstairs since 4pm and he got his plans at night. She decided its best to do a phone interview the next day.

The next day she didnt call, so Im guessing I wasnt a "suitable candidate" for them anymore smile.gif Awesome work ethics there in Huawei. A complete waste of time. My advice? Do not go into the software service engineering department, totally unprofessional. If other positions like Telecommunications Wireless Engineer or GSRC Junior Technical Engineer please go, the job is more interesting and involves oversea travelling if thats your thing.

i went thru something similar bro. interviewed at huawei. the hiring manager was in a meeting and i had to wait 50mins. but he apologized and explained he suddently got pulled into a discussion with the VP, and obviously hes not gonna cancel on him for me right? at least he apologized and explained.
but one thing even more scary was, there was an argument in the next meeting room which i can hear, since the walls are pretty thin and its quiet... one dude was shouting "dont talk to me... you're stupid, dont talk to me!" sweat.gif

I see. Is it possible to be transferred from outsource company to contract or permanent under Huawei?
*
Possible. During my orientation I met some people who were converted. Convert already also must attend first day orientation. They were core network guys if I am not mistaken. Pay wise don't know got difference or not.

huawei itself is a china company....so what do you think leh?? however i am sure there are english doc laying around somewhere... just that you might need to deal with china ppl only
*
They have English version for some reason especially sales material. Tech documentation only some. And yes u need to deal with a lot of China people which in some cases can't speak English. So better to type over the office communicator

How bad is Huawei OT, but it is compensated OT right?
*
Bro. If you are in a well performing department u will ot. Not paid la. Workload will be bad.

But then again, if u want an easy life in an easy department in hw I can say your bonus and pay won’t be great also.
Huawei will pay you handsomely if u dedicate your life to them

200k-300k, wahhhhh... no need bonus and everyday OT, I also ok leh. how to apply?
*
Bro not easy leh. Core member means you are indispensable to the team. Means ur boss all like u and depend on you. Customer also damn like you. If you beginner engineer, then slowly work your way up la. The cores are usually the project delivery heads, the account directors (Celcom maxis etc)

How was your offer like and working environment?

I think is not directly under Huawei but under another contract with Employment Agency like Kelly Services or iForte?
*
Then u need to really consider. Coz u are considered a contractor. Bonus etc is diff than Huawei permanent. Benefits are also minimal

Hi guys, currently I received an offer under SP - network tech department. Anyone has any experience there? Is the working culture same as what you guys mentioned (endless OT)?
*
if u are under SP (south pacific) be prepared to travel. some people kena 6 months only can come back... but the hardship allowance they give is good. u can save alot money

Hello all, yesterday I  just realised that I am actually joining Huawei as outsourced employee (payroll etc are not under Huawei). Because even when signing the job offer letter it didn't stated that I will work under huawei but rather the company that offers me the job. Heard quite a few bad reveiws about working at huawei as outsourced staff(heavy workload, bad work life balance, no promotion possibility etc.). Can anyone here confirm this? Btw I was assigned as system trainee or back office engineer, not really sure....
*
Don't do it bro. basically huawei pay money to your contract company, and contract company pay you a portion.
All ur claims wont go to huawei. will go to contract company... and this is where they fck u. if company is bad or dont make money, they wont pay your claims. plus, read your terms... i believe if u take leave u wont be paid also for that day.
They will promise u if u are good u can be huawei staff. but huawei doesnt do permanent nowadays d... its contract under huawei, and that wan also hard to achieve unless u work damn hard.
u will do all the hardwork, but dont get benefits/bonuses of huawei staff.

BUT, if the money is good, and ur single and ready to give your all... by all means go ahead.

May I know what's the range to be called as "good pay" when working at Huawei ?
*
Bro. This is really relative to your experience. I can’t comment on that. If u think the offer is good and you cant get a similar package elsewhere then isn’t that a “good pay”?

From my time in huawei, I noticed 2 things.

1) if u excel they will pay u. Great bonuses.
2) the type that excel are usually the ones that are single or those that have families they seldom see. These are the ones also that know how to manage the China ppl with traditional China values : obedience and hardworking

Contract staff is a little risky. When I got my offer it was a permanent one but that was 5 years plus ago. I wouldn’t go as a third party coz the benefit would suck and there are no bonuses. If u join huawei it’s just for the money and the experience. Nothing else.

Totally agree with your points. Still working with them or ciao alr?

I left liao. Got better offer then ciao.
But a word of advise to the guys here. Don’t simply ciao coz once u come out it’s very hard to go back in huawei.
Telco world very small and huawei is very big in telco

I know for sure that Huawei can provide the exposure. But the problems I am facing now is with my parents. They seem don't like me to fly over to west malaysia. And gave a lot of reasons such as covid-19, accommodation, not enough savings... I could not persuade them. I saw from those previous post that if I rejected Huawei offer, they will put me on blacklist. Is it really so?

Cause I plan to wait for the situation to get better, then I could reapply for Huawei again
*
Bro I advise u to take huawei. Working hours are bad but you are young and without commitment. Just go there and work like dog for 2-3 years. Then move.
Salary don’t think so much. Their bonus is good and can probably make up for it. But you have to be very obedient and hard worker. Their bonus can up to 6 months. Presales if u land deals sure get nice bonus. But bidding and proposal time prepare to work till 12am and check in back 9am.

Just do it. For those with families liao they will not be able to do this kind of hours.
