Hi Calsha,

If the pay is good in HW, just take it. That's my suggestion. Make sure to ask for salary in higher range, i.e. in USD terms.

One thing is for sure, many Malaysians asked for salary in a lower range.... we somehow forgotten about globalization and that we are capable people in the work force.

Good luck in your interview!

I just joining Huawei about 2 weeks time, as I heard my senior told me that Huawei will only increase salary about 2~3 years once? is that true?

It depends on which department you are working in. I think this is the same in all companies.
If the company/department doing well, and you are performing well, you could get reasonable increment.

I think you would get increment after probation.

hi all, i'll be joining huawei in 1 week time.
may i know which bank that huawei use for monthly salary disbursement?

think of getting things ready before the first day of work wink.gif
*
Many banks... Maybank, HSBC.
Why worry before joining? the HR will let you know when you join, and you can get your bank account ready within hours anyway.

Hey guys, I've just got a call from HuaWei for a technical support engineer position. May I know what sort of questions should I be prepared for and is there anything that I need to study and revise for the upcoming interview?

Your help will be much much appreciated. Thanks.
*
Be confident, know the stuffs you have studied in Univ and be prepared to answer them.
Don't freak out.

Hey, I've received a call for the secretary post....

Anyone has the working experience for this post?

Long working hours?...

Thx
*
Lots of stuffs to do. However, there are many secretaries that has opportunities in advancing their career.
Secretary -> Finance dept, etc.

Of course, you would need to put in efforts. Nothing comes for free. And not all secretaries got this opportunity.

QUOTE(neotv @ Nov 8 2010, 11:53 PM)
read through the entire topic, the key word that got my attention is.. long working hours..

just wondering, how long is long? in particularly in MRO shared/managed services?

what is the job security like.. for contractual employees?
*
Work till midnight, work over weekends. Depends on projects and which dept. you are in.
Usually the company will renew your contract if you are performing well. No worries.

Hmmm... most people leave huawei after 1-2 years. Remuneration good? Lots of traveling I supposed. Can earn a lot of allowances if you don't mind being out of country for more than 6-9 months a year.

fresh graduated is fine to be contract staffs... most important must work hard then enough lo...
at least u can learn the knowledge from huawai within 1 years and later u want to jump to other telco company also easier in the future...  smile.gif

Totally disagree about freshgrad joining 1 year, then, jobhop to another company.
Usually, I reject these type of applicants because they don't have perseverance and determination.

Suggest to work for minimum 2-3 years before changing a job. You could change job within same company. Why not?

Sunday morning...nothing to do...fitting time to write my 2nd Huawei testimonial..

So, I've join Huawei for almost 2 years already. I'm previously a Datacom Engineer (MRO) and currently working as Enterprise Network Engineer (MRO).

I'll talk about job as Datacom engineer first. Working hours has been stable recently (can go back at 6-7pm), compared to previously 9-11pm. But the job is riskier than ever due to the network is already up and closely monitored by customer (do any stupid mistakes, customer will file a complain letter to your boss!!). Anyways, if any of you join MRO, doesn't mean you won't have a chance to travel abroad. I've been to Brunei for about 2 months to implement their Metro-E network, and my colleagues have been to Australia & Laos.

My ex-boss and colleagues are all very helpful. When I first join, I don't know anything about networking because I am from Electronic course in university days. They patiently teach me and I have gotten my CCNA and CCNP certificate working towards my CCIE. I believe that you can't get any better hands-on experience outside compared to Huawei. I have learn many things and given many opportunities compared to my coursemates who joined other network vendor companies (shall not be named!!). But I guess you all know by now, Huawei is a China-based company....so it's quite "kedekut" la, don't expect a lot of bonus and increment. It's a great place to learn and don't worry if you don't have any networking skills, you will learn while you're there.

My ex-boss once said, he only look for staff who he thinks is hardworking and willing to learn, if he want to find those people who is hardworking, willing to learn and have networking skill, it will probably take him months to find. (haha, tip for those going to interview  smile.gif ). All in all, while the company itself is @#%@#%, the people in it are great, and if I am given a chance to do it all over again, I'll still choose Huawei.

So, I have transferred to Enterprise department (3 months already). Things here are more relaxing than Telco department. I get to travel to Singapore and Australia  brows.gif Nothing much to say here yet, there is currently only 2 IP engineers here. Current boss is looking for more engineers actually, but he always reject the ones that I recommended  cry.gif . Maybe this boss has higher expectation than my previous boss...

Anyways, enough for my personal blog!!  sweat.gif  Good luck for those going for interviews  thumbup.gif

P/S: If you heard the Etiqa office is moving next month, don't believe them  sweat.gif    the IT department not yet finish set up the office network, CCTV also belum pasang, how to move in wor..most likely its 2-3 months time, not next month

Sounds like you love Huawei so far~~
How's the pay and workload? How would you rate them with a score from 1 to 10? 10 being best.

Ok u very smart.but pls be polite

Just try to understand what is the stress level at huawei
*
Huawei's stress level is like this:-
1) Thrown to work on projects that requires skills that you might not have and expected you to perform.
2) So-call training is nothing but a person reading from powerpoint slides and usually with bad english.
I mean real bad english~~ but if you know chinese, the training will be better.
3) Last minute travel request. Yes, you can reject this kind of ridiculous request.
4) After squeezing your knowledge out of your brain, there's basically nothing much company will contribute to you except compensation in monetary terms.

Huawei is a good place if you are:-
1) Self-iniative in learning new technology skills. Don't expect company to give you proper training.
2) able to travel frequently and don't mind being apart with your family or gf or wife for some time, ie 1-2 months.
3) excited about exposure to traveling overseas. But don't be too excited as the place you stay at might be crappy.
4) in a rush to save money for getting married or buying a house. This is a good place to earn allowances but it comes with sacrification. It's hard earn money.
5) able to cope with the chinese culture.

hi, My interview went well, and im joining huawei soon. can anyone tell me how is the working life there? stressful or not? since many china man is there also
*
If you managed to find other job, don't join Huawei.
You will know what I'm talking about when you have joined Huawei.

Lots of tasks, no proper career development path, not professionals.
But if you are in a position which requires travelling, you will definitely earn & save quite a bit.
Well, it's just $$$ in the end, but not much of career development.

Hi guys, I got interviewed for the position of Sales and Accounts Business Operation Engineer around 2 weeks ago. Went through 2 interviews by the manager and HOD from China and I passed the interview. The the recruiter (I supposed she is from Huawei instead of recruitment agency) told me to submit my documents for approval today and will revert back to me in 1-2 weeks. What does that mean? Because we haven't even discuss about the remuneration packages or anything yet. 🧐
*
It means you will receive your job offer soon. I supposed your documents would include your payslip with your current company.
They will apply for the budget internally for approval, once approved, HR will call you and said they will offer you xxx amount and ask if you can start at so-and-so date. Most likely they will ask you to go to their office to read the offer and sign it on the spot. Of course, you have the rights to take it back and not sign it on the spot. The HR might be pushy saying they won't let you take the offer letter back. Just be ready and spontaneous.

Call the HR again in 1-2 weeks time if they didn't call, and of course, call in again only if you are very keen and interested.
Working in Huawei is no easy job, I'm talking based on my own experiences there.
