Help!! my PS3 wifi suddenly stopped working! I've sent to SONY for a checkup and they asked me to change mainboard which cost RM845, but prior to that was doing some research and found out that its possible to change only the network card...

Went to GH for second opinion and they said not worth to change and better buy a new set.

My Console is still with sony and only able to collect on monday.

Anybody got the same issue? if so how did you guys resolve it? and also any possible way to repair the network card WITHOUT changing Mainboard.. to Mahal laa... pleaseeeeee

Yup, this is the consoles section but I suggest
you create a thread in the main PS3 forum
which is right here:

i went and checked with one game shop in tropicana mall. mentioning the issues as highlighted by sony. and ask if the main board really is the issue how much would it cost. the guy said about 600++ only and the don't charge for checking but sony charged 40 bucks just for checking. Might just consider sending there.. hehe

Just curious....
If wifi is faulty, can we still use the LAN/wired connection?

Yes should be no problem I think.
As WIFI chip has no direct effect on your LAN port and modem, but if your network card is spoiled that I think you can't online at all.
