QUOTE(TheAdmiral @ Feb 25 2013, 12:32 PM) If there is a bracket containing symbols/numbers/whatever (example -------32(33)) then it means the other side, the manual do this to save space and to make it less cluttered. There is no #, just a bracket and bold the Jap words....With that being said, decals r not important just put whichever u wish wherever u wish. I wonder will Bandai produce English version book instead of Japs only?? |

Question. Decals and lining first then top coat flat or the other round? Pls adv, gonna level up to painting my kits soon. Currently doing my research in internet and will buy the spray this week.
Btw, no MG GNX-603T fans here? I saw a modeller modded this kit in police theme and this encouraged me to level up in kits painting. This post has been edited by SniperUnit: Mar 1 2013, 01:53 PM |

QUOTE(Vorador @ Mar 1 2013, 02:14 PM) for my past 2 gundams, i do lining (during painting), then top coat, then decal last. I read from somewhere, after top coat matt, the surface will become uneven and decals won't stick.Might not be right but that's what I did Mostly they do decals + lining then top coat. I need to get confirmation from here before i try, scared i might spoiled my kits. |

QUOTE(limfreelance @ Mar 1 2013, 02:21 PM) the decal still can be stick if u apply mr mark setter. So my plan is seperate hands, legs, torso, head (remove clear parts) then spray all together, u think it's good? I dun hv time to spray piece by piece.yup, best way: Mostly they do decals + lining then top coat...save topcoat. pls adv, thx! |

QUOTE(zeroglyph @ Mar 1 2013, 02:48 PM) yup, flat coat should always be last. gloss/semi should still be ok. i like to decal-line-flat coat. that way, the top coat would create a smudge effect like actual dirt. so it doesn't look like an attempt to create panel lines. So it's safe to panel line and decals then only flat top coat?for decal work after flat coat, you definitely need some form of glue. i tried once with water-based glue, then top coat over it. sticks just fine. |

Hi guys,
Remember i asked about top coat that day? So finally i bought Mr.Hobby top coat flat (grey color can) and now I'm ready to spray on my latest kit MG EZ8. Lining and decals completed and I'm ready to spray it. There is no clear part in this kit so I can spray just like that. But wondering do I have to cover the eyes part? It's clear part but with sticker on. Plan to spray tomorrow morning before work, hopefully the weather is sunny.... Pls adv, thx. |

QUOTE(daydreaming @ Mar 5 2013, 11:30 AM) 1st experience wif top coat was disaster. make sure weather is ok, and u 'defrost' ur top coat to at least room temp. then spray for a distance, not too near. spray one layer then stop. even if u cant see effect immediately, is ok. when it dries up, will b nice. I read from somewhere before spray must soak the whole can in a warm water and when spray hold the can upside down.i din see the effect last time and i sprayed again, too near. so frosting occurred and my kit ruined. my beloved IJ Do you guys really follow this? |

QUOTE(asuk @ Mar 5 2013, 11:36 AM) here's an extra tip about topcoat sprays: be extra careful when your spray can is nearly empty. the output is not consistent anymore and may come out in sputters, like a diarrhea Thx bro, but how do we knw whether it's near empty? A can can last for how many MG kits normally? |
