I agere the interior quality of the Focus, the fit and finish are quite impressive. All other Japanese equivalents feel pale, cheap and plasticky in comparison.

In Malaysia, people tend to compare prices to determine competition, which is why people lump the Focus together with the Altis, Civic etc.

On the global stage, the Focus and Golf have been great rivals in the hatch market for many years now, since the days of the first generation Focus.

I would consider the 408T/308T as competitors, but not the main ones. The Focus and the Golf are both in a class of their own when it comes to handling, engine refinement and the technology. Plus, the Peugeot brand has never been and still isn't taken seriously in most of the developed countries around the world.

The Focus was the best selling car in the world of 2012, and up until now, it still is the best selling model. If that doesn't speak for the car's brilliance, I don't know what will.

I have had a peek at the new Mazda 3, pictures from the internet. The hatchback looks good, the sedan just average and not as good looking as the hatch. Though the pricing of the Mazda 3 may be the biggest factor in influencing buying decision. From papers it looks like the price will not be less than RM130k, likely to be closer to RM140k if not higher.

Yes, that statement is misleading and similarly I wonder it it's typo on that quote regarding the battery failure within the first 3 years or 100,000km ... Anyway, when the time is up for the battery, I guess we will eventually find out if we will have to fork out our own money or the SC will replace it free of charge.

Here is a somewhat candid head to head between the Focus and the Skyactiv. The SkyActiv come out tops in terms of performance.

I reset my Ford Sync all the time but I can't tell you specifically which fuse to pull.

If I'm not mistaken it should be the third row from the left and 5th column down. It's a brown fuse with the number 7.5 printed on it. It's definitely at the top row and few columns down.

There's a bug in the Ford Sync. If your iPod is too full (mine has 18GB worth of music), sometimes the system won't be able to index the tracks properly. When it happens (probably once every 2 months), I'll reset the fuse.
The fuse box is just underneath the glovebox. You can use your bare hands to remove the cover. I suggest you use a plier to remove the fuse as it's a bit too tiny for the fingers.

Yesterday I let my friend test drive the Focus in the city. Even in city drives he was impressed by the power and acceleration of the Focus. He said it behaves like a rocket when he stepped on the pedal to overtake vehicles. Oh well, no surprise there. :-)

Today i finally hit my 1000km on my odometer No juddering symptoms    As for FC, i am in my 3rd tank now, getting 9.8L/100KM on the display which translate to about 10.2km per liter    which is nowhere near the figures stated in the brochures:

I am driving with D all the time, no sudden acceleration. I consider my daily journey 40 city:60 highway.

Wow... that is good FC, which translate to about 12.82KM/L. I noticed my tires are over inflated 35 psi and i lowered it back to 31 psi as per guide line at the driver door side (single driver with a toddler most of the time). Now FC dropped to 9.9L/100KM 

Maybe the FC improves with more mileage done? Can anyone confirm abt this?

1) Yes, blower speed is not very consistent, but I don't feel it too much since the speed is always at level 1 or 2 in my vehicle, rarely 3 or 4 since at those levels the noise from the blower is louder in the cabin. I try to limit the blower speed to 2, most of the time 1 since it is quietest at 1. I like a quiet cabin.

2) Can't comment on the auto wipers since mine is the low-spec non + model.

3) Can't comment too on the grinding sound as my vehicle rarely goes uphill, though I can relate to your experience, only once.

4) Yes, quite a dust magnet. No comment too.

5) I have got used to dirivng without neck support even on long journeys. Driven from KL to JB to Singapore, then to KL back wtihout much issues. Guess this is more to individual preferences. Aftermarket neck supports available at accessory shops I presume.

hi guys, heard from a friend that owns a titanium plus, that his engine vibrates intermittently at idle. It vibrates, then stop awhile, then vibrate again. Brought back to SA, they said its like that (engine's characteristics). Anyone else experience this?

yes i face the same symptoms. servicing the car in 2weeks and will ask them about this.
also, when you on the blower to your legs i notice the blower to the cabin is so weak. like 80% of the air goes to the leg area and only 20% to the cabin.

Yikes! That would be kinda scary.... what if there are people waiting in the car, and the driver gets out?  I think the car locks itself only in the case where:

- the car is already locked, then
- unlocked but
- without any door being opened after x minutes, will lock itself again.

This is to prevent your accidental unlocking eg. if the key hob presses against another key/coins in your pocket while you are walking away from your car.

Does anyone have any experience or got any feedback regarding this AutoFoam treatment? According to the writeups, by injecting this rigid foam into the hollow spaces in the car's chassis, it can improve soundproofing as well as chassis rigidity, thereby improve handling.

What think you?

Ive read somewhere (forgot which forum) ... There are no significant diffrrence after u injected the foam...if ur pocket is thick maybe u can opted to have this foam installed....but this feel kinda subjective tho...u might have a go...and feedback here..if good...i oso wanna try it

battery died again !! is getting on my nerves...

i've been very careful past few days and make sure i lock the car at all times. now i need to send to service center...need to arrange auto assist to jump start... another day wasted..

the hassle it takes to arrange jump start/towing and the time spent waiting. the frustration especially when ford says everything is in good working condition...if it is a 20yr old car i fully understand. what i am having here is a 4month car which only done 6000km.

Thank God its only happen to me once, and I know your feeling bro. Some car nut call it "battery parasite" and it take month to rectify adn solve the problem, because have to check all the electronic part that refuse to sleep even the car is off and lock

Here some tips.
After you switch off the engine, all light at dashboard will always remain On for few minutes,
But if driver go out,, close door, the dashboard light will auto off, ALWAYS CHECK THIS, if light still On, lock your car, then this time all light should be Off, accept the PATS blinking red light and one orange light at dashboard with key icon on it.
If all light still on, open car, start engine, on headlamps, on radio, on aircon then take a spin, after that swith off light, off aircon, off radio, MAKE SURE YOUR RADIO LIGHT is OFF everytime you off your radio, the only light that On is the word SONY and radio power button.
Before you off the engine, double check there is no USB attached, and no charger at your cigarate lighter.
Then Off the engine, go out from car, close door, before you lock your car make sure all light at dashboard is auto off within few second, then only lock your car, if your dashboard light still on, then thats the culprit. And check your aircon light also, sometimes this light refuse to Auto Off. Snap a picture of the light and make sure with the blinking PATS light, to show that you already lock your car.

This is not happen to all focus but it only happen to unlucky one, the light at dashboard refuse to Off. In Malaysia its only happen to you and me I guess.

Same goes to the USB drive, my brother also owned a Focus, he never pull out his USB drive ever unless he need to add in new song, but I always pull my USB drive out, no harm because the car clever enough to go to your last song, unless the Indexing is still on going.
If you notice, sometimes, we Off our engine, lock our car, then we come back On engine, On radio, at display it show, Sync System Idexing Complete, thats mean the car still doing minor background job even the car is Off.

Now since Feb 2013, my car all fine, no big problem, except for small issue. My car is weekend car.
What I do everyday before go work with my bike, I will go my focus and have a peek and see is the PATS blinking red light is On or not, if not blinking, then I'm in big trouble. 

For owner that having problem with loud thud thud sound at front absorber when your hit hole or road bumper, go SC and ask technician to tighten the lower arm screw for absorber, under the absorber mounting. I dont know if you guys understand or not, if no, I'm sorry, reply me and I will explain again.

Now I'm waiting for my warranty claim for steering guk guk sound, Ford PJ said Ford Krabi is on top of this problem, and will probably issue out new comsumable part to be replace to eliminate the sound.

Thank you for sharing your experience here. Glad to say that both me and wife have flexible working hours and each time car failed to start luckily car is at home. Wife drive the car most of the time and she is heavily pregnant now. Had it happen at her office basement car park or somewhere middle of the road, I think I will rush there with a few journalist or maybe police officer due to safety reasons...

Anyway, next week I will give puchong service center last chance as they promise to replace with a new battery. If the battery failed again, obviously is something terribly wrong with the car. Even if Someone very well-versed with cars, I don't think we need to pay that much attention each time we switch off the car or lock the car. In fact both me and wife have a habit of switching off the air con every time before switch off engine. Until now never use the USB/cigarette lighter before..

Even if they manage to solve my problem, i will still complain in their fb page. I will ask my insurer to provide a summary of auto assist help being requested as a proof

After such experience, I think is hard to recommend this car to others especially female driver where realibility is the biggest concern in current environment...

Yes, the vibration is intermittent when the vehicle is idle, ie. vibrate for 1 second, no vibration for 2-3 seconds, vibrate for 1 second, no vibration for 2-3 seconds etc. Not really serious but I can feel it. This engine vibration gives the feeling or impression that the engine is going to shut down or something due to empty oil tank.

I'm going to send the vehicle to the service centre earlier than the scheduled 10,000km service as recently the driver's windscreen is producing a slight screeching sound when it's winding up and down. Will probably bring up this engine vibration issue and ask about the minor jerks and grinding sound.
