I dun think there is any suitable period for testing the power. I believe that most cars are already "run in" when you purchase the car.. Personally I have pushed it pass 160km/h mark in the 1st week.. I think still can go faster, anyone managed to push it beyond to 170 or 180??
QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Oct 3 2013, 01:44 PM) Any thoughts on the suitable period we can test the power of the Focus? WHen do you guys start to drive past 140km/h on the highways? Above 1,000km mileage should be safe I presume, or we need to wait until 2,000km or so? I just want to see how "noisy" is the Focus at higher speeds. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

Agreed.. safety is #1 priority.. the average driving speed in the city is no more than 50km/h, it is only the occasional short burst (aka cheap thrill) to 150/160/170 on the highway. Dun think will hold that kindda of speed for long... as brother SportyHandling said, age is catching up.. slow and steady will win the race..
QUOTE(lowkl @ Oct 3 2013, 04:09 PM) Jeez people! Please la take care.... at the speeds you are talking about, no matter what NCAP rating the car has, any accident will definitely result in nothing more than porridge surviving. Top speeds are for race tracks only. ... but going from zero to the speed limit in the shortest time possible..... heh heh.... |

Folks, be sure not to loose your 6 precious service vouchers.. if missing means must pay for servicing!
According to my SA, you can always send in your car before 10,000km, but that would mean using your precious free 1st 10,000 km service voucher.. QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Oct 3 2013, 04:35 PM) According to my sales advisor the engine oil has been changed before I took delivery of the car. As a matter of fact, on the same day when I was waiting for the car they are changing the engine oil in the morning. Hence the next service at 10,000km and not 1,000km. Yes, it is new to me too as I have sent all my other cars for the 1st service at 1,000km. |

Btw, is that any ways that we can check on our own whats the software version? Hitting about 5k on my Fofo, then low speed jerking has been much reduced to the initial 1-2k. Thinking of waiting until the 1st service at 10k before upgrading my software..

Thats pretty normal. My average FC is 12.5L/100km. 80% city:20 highway. FC only improved if you are the highway, cant hit about 9.0L/100km.
As some brudders suggested earlier, try shifting your gear to S mode when you are in stuck in jams.. it does help to improve FC a bit.. QUOTE(lowkl @ Dec 2 2013, 06:31 PM) My first tank I got 13.6l/100km I find that slow acceleration does NOT help in improving FC; however accelerating then hard braking does make the FC worse. As such, now I just tekan the gas to the max comfort (and enjoyment!) level whenever I can estimate that I don't have to slam the brake. Overall, I must say the FC is much worse than as advertised, though not unreasonable for a 2L car. |

Just wondering if there is any autolock function? For example, you forgot to lock your car and went away, and after like say 5 mins, the car automatically lock itself??
QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Dec 4 2013, 12:28 PM) Similarly, I feel sorry for you. I hope the service centre will have a permanent solution to your problem. FWIW during the first month when I had the Focus, I did not lock the car when it was parked in the car porch overnight. No problems with restarting the car whatsover. I only started to lock the car at night once I fiddled with the positioning of the car seat. I am shocked that the car seat can still be electronically adjusted even though the engine is switched off. In this sense, I think the car consumes a lot of battery power if it is left unlocked. From that day onwards, the day I figured out the position of the car seat can be adjusted electronically, I started to lock the car everytime it's not in use. |
