Hi all,

I need some opinions and advise from you, and please please don't flame me. smile.gif

I've read up alot and looked at the comparisons for these 3 cars, Neo CPS, Neo CPS R3 and the Lancer GT 2.0. I am aware that the Lancer is not within the same class, but these 3 cars are within my budget of RM900 a month for monthly repayment. 15k DP.

I was initially planning to settle down for just the ordinary Neo CPS as the CPS R3 offers NO performance upgrades. But after some calculations, the Lancer GT2.0 is just RM300+- for monthly repayment and Insurance+Roadtax(Including NCD).

I'm 21, single and have about RM1800 to spare each month after paying off my commitments. I need some feedback in terms of performance, handling, FC, maintainance and reliability. Shall I just settle down for just the regular CPS? Or just feel the pinch a bit more by getting a Lancer GT?

I would appreciate your feedbacks. Thank you.

rm1800 is ur spare? or include makan minum?
*
RM1800 is left behind after paying off my commitments and keeping aside for daily fuel & makan money. Not inclusive of savings.

The reason on why I need some advise is that I plan to use the car for a long time and i'm not sure if buying the Lancer would be a good idea for someone my age as I may have to pay for other things in the future. Say if I buy a 2nd hand Neo CPS, I would have an additional RM400 to spare.

What would you guys say about this?

since when is the lancer GT priced similar to the Neo? doh.gif
*
Neo CPS R3 - RM57k +-
Lancer GT 2ND Hand - RM75k+-

If you actually read my post, you would see that I mentioned its within my budget of RM900 monthly repayment.

Hello bro biggrin.gif

Haha, hi bro. I guess you know why i'm here. biggrin.gif

Keeping image/gaya aside. In terms of affordability, do you think I can afford to drive the Lancer? I need to take into monthly repayments, increased FC, maintenance, and I also need to save some cash to cover for the upcoming Road Tax+Insurance. Not only that, I will need some spare cash to keep for savings and to also live life a little. Now the question comes down to if the Lancer is affordable. Need some advise on this too also please.

wa so lucky. only 21 got 1.8k to spend aside. good good.  rclxms.gif
if i were u id choose normal neo just to be on the safe side. You can mod it aplenty?

At least alot of people familliar with proton, and u save a cash by not goin for the lancer GT.

Plus the lancer GT isnt that powerful.. and some more auto no syiok.

at the end of the day, better get a manual if u are comfortable with it. Auto gearbox tend to breakdown and cost alot more.

my 2 cents.

Hmm..tell me when u will marry?

If long term, get a Neo R3.

If short term, buy another cheaper car...Persona.

Actually, Lancer/Inspira's maintenace is more higher than Neo R3.. smile.gif
*
Inspira & Persona has never interested me. The only Proton cars I love are Satrias, especially the GTi. I currently drive a Satria and would really like to own the Neo R3(M).
Im pretty sure that the R3 can't outrun the GT on the highway, but I can live with that. I just want a car which would turn heads and fun to drive as i'm still young. As for marriage, lol, not anytime soon la. Maybe 7 or 8 years time. I've not even thaught about that yet.

But anyhow, i'd also like to have a bit more cash to save up for my future. Or even go out for a nice meal once in a while. Considering my commitments and lifestyle, the Lancer would take quite a hit on my expenses. The Satria would probably be a better choice when it comes to affordability and a suitable car for my age. I also don't normally carry more than 1 passenger as my car is not built to carry more than that, so a 2 door car would not affect me in any way either.

i think it can outrun the GT ..  the slushboxCVT will always be in the way... Neo way better first. Then save for a better car. You said for ureself the lancer will cost more.

So you have made up your mind, congratulations smile.gif

Kinda confusing, but, Well you just answer your own question bro.  Since u ok with proton, Buy the Neo R3 then, what u waiting for? plus u don't often carry passenger and havent thought of getting married yet and u can save lil bit money for future use.
*
Yup, I took some time to think yesterday. Though its just a little extra for the GT, I would rather keep that extra cash for something else.
Sure ah it can outrun the GT?

go for the neo bro .. as you said you will have extra 400 cash in your hand.that can go into your saving.or do up your car.or you can always afford for a nice wine and dine in a while
with the chicks thumbup.gif .and may b after 5-6 years you will sure earn more . than str8 upgrade to evo.. no need lancer .. haha
*
Lol, this made me laugh. Yeah i mean, it seems more reasonable to wait till I have more cash to spare to get a higher priced car. Neo R3 would definitely be a damn good plus point for the chicks tongue.gif

Opting for R3 performance parts would be great, but I don't know how would the power gain against fuel consumption be. Anyone got experience in this?
Was driving behing a CPS R3 earlier, looks damn chun. But kinda wished the spoiler looked like the CPS one.

Lots of negative feedbacks for the Lancer GT. Thanks for the feedbacks guys, saved me from making a potentially bad choice and wasting a lot of money.

"Destroy their hope", lol. In-laws and kids are the least of my concerns because I still have a couple more years until I can even think of getting married. And i'm pretty sure i'd be able to afford a better car at that time. For now, looking at the responses, the Neo is definitely the best choice in terms of affordability and reliability. If everything goes smooth, i'll be posting a picture of it soon smile.gif

Checked out the R3 Performance Package online from Proton, RM10,499. Freakin expensive! I don't think i'd be able to afford the entire package.

U confidently can afford lancer gt...but u cant fork out 10k if buy neo??? doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif

i lol at this....

r u sure u can afford lancer gt...i mean if u really2 have 1.8k spare per month, juz wait another 5 month n go buy neo n upgrade it...simple

i knew that 10k for the package is not worth at all plus expensive (with some amount budget u can get much2 better hp n torque gain) whistling.gif ...

You obviously did not read this entire thread well. The reason why I posted this thread was because I wanted to get some feedback if the Lancer GT is affordable for me or just settle down for something slightly cheaper.

Keep aside adding the perforrmance package into my loan, you're trying to differentiate monthly repayment and a onetime purchase of RM10k? Seriously?

Noob_whitecps & angrysnail, are the supercharger kits reliable? I don't have much knowledge in these things, but I would like to know if it could cause any kinds of damage towards my engine. And are they street legal? Will JPJ disturb if I were to get something like this fixed?

from a sheet, this kits reliable than turbo because it doesn't touch ur exhaust system at all,so no extra piping,no bumper removal, not touch ur lubrication system like turbo, low boost 0.6 which original internal can safely stand and this kits come with sprintex own piggyback..proton also have their own concept car running this sprintex..if u want more powergain,go for turbo..since ppl say it cheap..why?since roughly turbo kit with install=RM6500++,management+tuning cost u other RM2000++ but yes..cheap a thousand than SC with more HP..

for this, its legal since u just mod original engine..

Here some poison..hehe..

Just checked out this Youtube video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdvy-wRTjzA

I understand that the CPS is an automatic, but why couldn't it outrun the Myvi 1.3?
To all the Neo CPS over here, what cars have you guys trashed on the road? biggrin.gif

I'm definitely getting a Manual. I've seen many good reviews on the Neo when it comes to handling which is a plus point for me. I will definitely be adding aftermarket performance parts when I have to cash for it, would I at least be able to outrun at least our local cars, or a Vios perhaps?

coz a lot of ah beng vios out there driving as though they own a supercar...need to outrun them for our own safety

Yeah, lots of Vios speeding around like they're some super fast car. Need to teach them a lesson.
But I do need to be able to outrun some of the cars on the road, like when someone tries to cucuk/tailgate me, I just want to step on the pedal and just smoke them. biggrin.gif

cucuk also sometimes la. but not much problem la when masuk corner.

I've not driven a Forte personally, but the reviews on its handling is not too great. How does the car feel and handle while taking corners at high speeds? Is it stable?
