What exactly this google "navigation" is supposed to do ? I start up the application, it says it's not available for this country, but nevertheless, can still enter the destination ( the source is automatically filled up ) and shown the turn by turn direction to the destination. This pretty much the same as what you get from the PC, asking for direction with google map.

I also run the google program "map", it turns out to be almost the map as "navigation".

I am pretty confused with the offering of the various components of GMS.

Used method 1 mentioned in the xda developer posts on my phone.

Seems working but it immediately look up for a newer version 6.14.2 and want to update to it. Have to abort the update. Does it look up for the update everything I start Maps ? How to disable that ?

I don't get the street view and also do not know how to trigger street view.

Anyone here got it working ? Did it show real street view of your place ?

Reading the posts from the net revealed that the one mod by Brut is the older version.

The newer versions referred to by xda forum is mod by ownhere.

Latest seems to be at 6.14.1.

But google has already reached 6.14.2.

Can't find 6.14.2 from ownhere. But there is a chinese posts which mentioned about 6.14.2 :-

ownware meaning we can use or not?

Actually I tried it already, the 6.14.2 one mentioned in the Chinese post is the same as that on the google play store. So not much point.

The latest mod from a China developer called 'ownhere' is upto 6.14.1 only.

The xda developer Brut.all ones are much older than the ownhere ones.

Yes the 6.14.1 is working but still no street view. There were some posts on the net which says street view might be coming to Malaysia pretty soon.

I am using method 1 as mentioned in the xda-developer posts.

try waze not bad
*
The major shortcoming of waze is constantly need to be online.

Traffic incurred is one thing, another is that there will be places where 3G reception is poor.
