The curve seems to make it very difficult for stuff to stick. I decided to just use one of those liquid polymer coatings.

Went to 2 Nokia stores in JB just now, and both actually advised me to wait till after CNY as the new batches are confirmed to arrive then. I asked them about the protico update and they had no clue whether the new ones will come updated. Anyway, they did only have white units on hand, and I want a black one, so I'll wait it out I guess.
Damn that Xperia Z is really tugging my heart as well..

apart from a few hardware upgrades, the xperia is still an android machine. go for the 920 for a newer experience, and if you still need an android, there are cheaper options than the sony that can do all the good things it can. except go 1 meter under water, which is something pointless i guess.

Aha. I'm also an iPhone user before. Not really that pleased with the lack of apps. Notification is slow and etc.
It's something new and fresh, but the lack of major apps is killing me sad.gif
Glad that portico update lets your wifi always go on. WhatsApp notification won't be delayed anymore I guess.

Not quite sure how much i'll sell it since I only use it less than a month.
If there is a good offer, i'll sell it I suppose, and go back to iOS for the time being.

go android la.

I'm not really into Android. I've tested out Android when I bought Nexus 7, it was alright.
I'm more into the Apps I suppose, where OS doesn't matter that much to me.
The more content the better for me.

Android is alright and if only Sony Xperia Z is releasing soon.  cry.gif

i was two traffic lights away from getting a digi nexus 4. i like android for its customization and apps, and i toyed around A LOT with my friends s3s, and note2s. in the end, i opted for 920 since being a hardware-oriented guy, i just had to go for the one with better build quality, looks and camera on the market now. like exkurogane said, software/OS can be upgraded and updated, but not hardware.

xperia z rustled my jimmies, but until a proper comparison is out, and/or a set with the new android OS (key lime pie?), im sticking with my 920. but everything will change if nokia does come out with a proper pureview EOS superphone. nyum2...

dont get u. Samsung yet to release their new flagship (S4) and Sony just announced theirs. Looking forward to see what samsung has to offer. If the built quality and design is like S3 then me no like.
*
what i meant was by the time all 2013 models are out, just within a few months after that, early 2014 models will be leaked and teased to the public. the cycle gets shorter everytime since technology moves fast. analysts say in a few years time, electronics stuff especially smartphones and tablets will have a 6 months cycle.

from reliable newsblogs, the s4 will indeed look like the s3 but a bit more square; plasticy and 'cheap', apart from the bigger screen size.

Well, guys, all i can say, if you want to keep waiting, you will wait forever. Nowadays it is normal for your new phone to become outdated in 6 months; Nokia is unveiling more new Pureview phones next month. So, just pick what catches your linking and buy if u really need a new phone.

By the way, given how Lumia 920 only started selling in November, Okay, that wasnt bad, Nokia is back in profitability.

Nokia have another 2 pureview phones coming, codenamed EOS which supposed to have a big sensor like the PureView 808, and another codenamed Catwalk with the same OIS tech as the Lumia 920, but maybe they bump up to 12-13MP. The difference here is both are aluminium build, and bulk and weight are greatly reduced; the phones by Nokia this year will only max out at 4.7 inches, until WP supports 1080p there will be no 5 inch screens from Nokia.

I expect the EOS and a tablet to be revealed next month - Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which Nokia will be attending, and also where they announced the 808 Pureview last year; the Catwalk is supposed to replace the 920 will be announced later this year - as usual, around October. Since 808 is the last Symbian phone, that means Nokia will announce windows phones in next month's MWC, and i expect 3 devices to be announced - the EOS, Lumia 720, and a tablet.

which one you budget will be top dog? 'EOS' or catwalk?

2 top phones in a year, both EOS and Catwalk are high end; and i believe they will introduce a Lumia 710 successor, the Lumia 720, maybe priced around RM 1199 like that. for the mid range. EOS will replace the 808PureView, Catwalk replaces the 920. Just like Samsung intros the Galaxy S-series by midyear and the Note series at year end, when both are high end.
From what i heard big sensor and OIS are not combined yet this year. Good thing, because i change new phone every 2 years. That means in 2014 might even more awesome stuff coming when i buy new phone. I'll be happy with 20+MP, not necessarily 41MP.

QUOTE(ImbaSteamulation @ Jan 25 2013, 11:30 AM)
I had my phone for a month already, and I would like to admit that it was a regretful decision. The sole reason why I bought this phone because it's beautiful, gorgeous, sexy, and it's merely indestructible phone branded NOKIA. But the major disappointment comes from the Windows Phone Market/Microsoft, the market is not only growing slowly but instead despicably SLOW, in other words EXTREMELY SLOW.

Here are some reasons why you shouldn't buy a Windows Phone for now.

1) PDF format is the most essential file for mobile usage, especially when it comes to storing and viewing hotel and flight voucher/itinerary. Microsoft has once again fail to meet such demands and release an incomplete/non-versatile version of PDF Reader. This is by far the most immature move by Microsoft.

2) Temple Run was announced and promised that the app would come to the platform by holiday season of 2012. So what now? no news of it till now? A broken promise is a broken promise indeed, clearly displays their irresponsibility.

3) Usually there will be new XBOX games released by Microsoft once a week but not until recently. This shows either the Windows Phone Market is not showing a good view of value and customers or Microsoft is backing away from Xbox games on Windows Phone.

4) Microsoft endeavors that 46 out of 50 top apps by the end of 2012? Do I see a progress? Do you see a progress? I believe Windows Phone users know the right and mutual answer.

5) There are more, trust me, Windows Phone is a still developing and an immature platform. There's more of just a single reason why Windows Phone isn't for everyone.

I swear on my own words that if Microsoft kept on with such slow pace I'll never, f**king ever, buy a Windows Phone anymore.

P.S. I bought a Windows Phone because it's Nokia.
P.P.S. Microsoft - YOU SUCK.

this is a lumia 920 spesific discussion la bro. if u want to rant just about WP8, go the corresponding thread la. most of us in here are hardware guys; we love the lumia for its hardware first, OS second. constructive criticism is welcomed but yapping angrily, not at all.

It's my honest and faithful review my friend. I'm talking about this phone in general. The anger part was just to express my utter disappointment.  vmad.gif

not a problem, however your review was totally about WP8, not lumia in general. i dont you see rant about the design, the camera, sound quality etc. hmm.gif

but your concerns are sound and agreed upon by many. try ranting at windowsphone central, you might get the attention and push the windows people to do better. i believe they do join the forums to look for feedbacks from customers.

I'll adhere acknowledge your advice.
Tbh, the camera is pretty bad, but I do understand that the Portico update may fix the sharpness issue but the wait for the update is just too long. And oh, Nokia Maps is pretty inaccurate even with data connection on, the maps in the place I'm living (Penang Island) is quite outdated. There's one day I took a ride with my colleagues and showing them how awesome Nokia Maps was in offline mode, mana tau, pffft.. the GPS lead me to a T-junction entering the main road, and guess what? It's a one way road to the left and it asks me to turn right. Not only this situation was brought up once but three times! You couldn't imagine how embarrassed I was.  rclxub.gif
*
tu la, next time before showing off, google around for potential problems first. laugh.gif nokia maps gets updated quite slow, so that might caused the problem you faced. i encountered the same hassle a few times before in singapore where they re-routed roads often these days because of the mrt lines upgrade. it told me to go forward when there was a big@ss piling machine closing the junction and once directed me 7kms around hectic town area when i could have just make a left turn earlier and avoid all those wasted kms at the first place. back here in JB, navigations are solid, probably since the roads are just still the same after all these years.

other than that, the navigation works quite well for me, especially when i turn off celular, data and even wifi. someone posted before that having data on simultaneously with your maps location services will cause problems since it will try to retrieve infomation from its online servers as well as its real-time satellites positioning.

Im also predicting stuff myself; if Nokia doesnt announce something in MWC they are shooting themselves in the foot. Nokia has always attended MWC with new products; dont forget they didnt announce anything in CES.
*
many people bash nokia since the 920 seems not up to the hype; i.e. camera not trumping the 808. i believe, nokia can anytime make another godlike phone and kick every other phones @ass, but this time the problem lies with MS. if the 920 came fully fledged to beat the 808's hardware but the OS tanked, nokia will go down regardless of the hardware. it then would need the favour of MS to back them up financially and right now, its like nokia has to bow down to MS for survival.

now that the market reacted with demands for better photo/video capabilities and that WP8 is gaining fans, the future is for them to take.
