unfortunately, there is a bug in 04-30 version where the Keep Connection Alive script is pointing to a private IP address to check the WAN connection. If you've set "Enabled with Restart", it will continue to reboot every time the scheduled task run due to the private IP address is unreachable.

Here's a quick workaround until the bug has been rectified in the next release:
- Change the settings for Keep Connection Alive in Modem tab to Enabled or Disabled
- Add the this command without the double quotes in Scheduled Tasks under System tab. "*/5 * * * * /bin/ping -c 10 openwrt.org || reboot"

As you already know, there is a new Hunstsman release available. 

The big ticket item in this release is bandwidth/usage monitoring. 

Huntsman 2013-04-30 Keep Alive is working again. E173 and E1820 will be detected as PPP modems and should work correctly. Bandwidth Monitoring in all its glory is implemented. Some minor bug fixes and script enhancements. DDNS, Time Sync and RNDIS driver reinstated.
Note: There is a little bug with usage calculation in excess of 1Gb

One problem that may be occurring with the ROOter software is that it unleashes the full speed capability of the modem. This is because the appropriate fast modem protocol is used by the ROOter, rather than PPP, which is used in standard OpenWRT and TPLINK firmware. The fast protocol causes maximum speed and maximum modem power consumption. For this reason the Turbo mod is discouraged, as additional power may be used.

The underlying problem here is that many routers appear to be incapable of providing enough power to support the new power hungry 3G DC HSPA+, 4G devices at full speed.

Some folk have experimented and found that turning off the wifi and using a LAN cable connection, can provide enough power for the modem.

The use of a Y-cable and an additional USB power supply or the use of a hub to power the modem are other ways of overcoming the router power deficiency problem.

PS Chuahcs79's modem should be good to go on this version.

Is "Keep Connection Alive with restart" enabled?

When the connection is idling (no internet activity) it will throttle back, but when you are actually using the internet and downloading etc, it will ramp up to DC-HSPA. This is normal.

There is a network factor as well.

e.g. your relative signal strength, number of customers using the cell and telephony and data throughput.

A ping is not enough to maintain the higher connection rate.

i encounter that before when i stay town side last time,.. it is the tower issue,. in these case , it happen to me when i connect to 2100MHz,.. since 3G WCDMA and the DC-HSPA+ both is on 2100MHz,..

i manage to solve the issue by forcing my modem to connect to 900MHz instead,..after that it was fine,.. since that area 900MHz only support up to HSPA+,..

it is better than stuck at WCDMA 3G 384Kbps,..

2013-06-18 There are no new features as it is a "stability" release. It has the latest OpenWRT updates in it and both the SVN and Packages have been updated. 'getsig' has been modified (again) so that it runs all the time while the modem is plugged in and the Network Status page will display data without any delay. The SMS Messaging has been modified so it reads the messages much faster. The old GUI for Luci has been removed, as this seemed to be the cause of the web interface disappearing. Hopefully this cures some of the reported stability problems that have cropped up recently.

I suggest that if you have not done so already, a move to 2013-06-18 is a good one. The old GUI was causing a number of problems including errors on the SMS page.

BTW Happy to hear any reports of the new SMS feature.

There will be a new release soon with a few new features and DM has miraculously found a bit more flash ram space, so iPv6 will be back for all routers.
