Thanks. Anyway do I need to reset my router to default setting? This router is still under default firmware and have yet flash it to other updated or custom firmware.

Just flash it with OpenWrt, so far so good, the only problem is that it can't show Signal/Cell Information somehow.

yeah that signal consider bad/weak.

For my case it's considering good already, I'm using soyabox and put it outside the window, if I put it inside my office, the signal strenth will get something like 10-15%. So 35% is a good improvement for me as my office has very poor 3G signal reception.

One more question, how can I get the Maxis 3G connected fast as soon as I power on the router? I've to wait for ridiculously long time to get connected if I was on default firmware, does OpenWrt have any option to set it?

well the auto recognise and dialing timing default in those firmware is A LOT faster than your tplink stock firmware,..  notworthy.gif

Yeah I noticed that when I restart my router after flashing to OpenWrt, way more faster than stock firmware, and auto dialing in OpenWrt is preset can't be modified?

And should I put "Connection Keep Alive" enable? It's disable by default.

I'm using MR3420 V2 with OpenWrt, but how can I disconnect and reconnect manually? On stock firmware it does have the button to let you connect and disconnect the 3G connection, but for some reason I can't find any on the OpenWrt.

If you're using the vanilla version of OpenWRT, go to Network tab and click on the 'Connect' button for your WAN/3G connection
If you're using ROOTer version of OpenWRT, i'd usually reboot the router. I'm not sure if the 'Connect' button will work or not, haven't really try it.

Got vanilla version of OpenWRT? I think I'm using the rooter version as my login ID is root. How can I get access to vanilla version? I'm using stable 'BlackWidow' firmware btw.

I got another issue here. OpenWRT is supposed to have faster auto dialing time when you switch on the router compare with stock firmware, at first I thought it's true coz I saw the 3G connection led on the router light up quite fast after power on the router, but it's not the case. Although the 3G connection led is on, the router is still not yet connected to 3G, and have to wait for a while to get it connected to 3G, and the worst part is that the waiting is actually longer than stock firmware. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? icon_question.gif

Vanilla version of OpenWRT means no customization which usually downloaded from www.openwrt.org
ROOter version of OpenWRT are the ones have customization and optimization specifically for 3G/4G connection, usually downloaded from http://rfactory.org/OpenWRT/

Since you mentioned that you're using Blackwidow version of firmware, it's one of the ROOter firmware. For ROOter firmwares, I won't say that it will establish 3G connection faster after boot up compared to the vanilla version of OpenWRT. The reason behind is ROOter runs some scripts to detect what is the best protocol your modem can support and connect using that protocol. This process will take up additional time. If you want to establish 3G connection fast after boot up, you should go for the vanilla version. But do note that the vanilla version will require a few extra steps before it will work with your 3G modem after you've just flashed it. Steps to do it should be in the first few posts or in earlier threads.

Hmm no wonder. Btw does the vanilla version able to show Signal/Cell Information?

unfortunately, no as this is one of the most wanted features for ROOter firmwares.  thumbup.gif

Then I think I'll settle down with rooter version.

One more thing, any reason why I can't get my Maximum Qos on my sim? Last time I tried MDMA but I can't see the QoS as well.

from what I've experienced so far, I can either get 8Mbps DL/UL or nothing shown in the ROOter firmwares. It is just informational and it doesn't impact my connection speed. What do you need it for?

I'm curious about what's the QoS that I've, saw lot of ppl showing their QoS and wonder why I can't get my QoS.

I've MR3420 V2 along with openwrt rooter version firmware, and I just got my new 4g sim, but now I can't connect to maxis server somehow.

After doing some investigations, I figure out that it's because the 4G sim is pin locked, so I look around the admin pages on openwrt and can't find anything that let me key in the pin code for sim unlock.

Anyone has any idea how to solve this? Thanks.

you can disable sim lock with your modem connect directly to laptop.
