z500 cant upgrade to 8gb ram without voiding warranty?
i gonna buy a z500 at lowyat plaza this weekend and i guess if thats the case i'll have to stick with 4gb ramĀ  sad.gif

Z500 (and Z400) is just troublesome to get access to RAM slot and HDD bay. Some re-sellers don't want to bother with helping buyers do upgrade after-market sweat.gif

just my humble opinion that the HD8850M GDDR5 might in par with GT750M. biggrin.gif

the funny thing is, AMD did only little improvements on their newer cards recently. for example, the HD8670M which is the successor of HD7670M is weaker than the predecessor. blink.gif
*
AMD is not really doing much lately I suppose haihs... without competition, later Nvidia will rip us off >_<
The AMD HD8850M seemed promising haha, will definitely keep an eye out for it, though there is also the 14" inspiron 14R with GT750M too laugh.gif

biggrin.gif well, i like more different option beside 1 ~ 2 brand have good spec and price mah. tongue.gif kinda boring if buyer got limited option only laugh.gif

Aiyo, you scared of customers asking you to upgrade Z400/500 for them is it? haha brows.gif brows.gif
Good business ma since you are some of the few who know how to do it laugh.gif

Actually it is not that hard. Just need to unscrew the back panel, insert the screwdriver through the screw holes to push the keyboard now. Unscrew the screws under keyboard, then you can remove the backplate now. wink.gif

I have done it 2 times, 1 for replacing thermal paste, and another time is for swapping out HDD for SSD.

I'd seen a technician did it once. iirc, there were ~ 40 screws before he get to the RAM hmm.gif

quite confuse with their marketing strategy , both model for mobile work station ? if does, why put in U processor, if for mobile using, its too heavy compare with MSI gs70,..if for gaming, the price are way expensive then the MSI , Asus N550JV, Lenovo Y510p

- maybe they aim for person whom need something bigger display for multimedia - touch , moderate gaming , but dislike g750 jx , MSI gs70 ( expensive )

starting from last year, i had some thoughts on Dell that their marketing strategy is a bit funny. they implemented U processors instead of giving a moderate one. i think their main aim is on moderate usage. with that price, i could buy a N550JV which has a better processor and more lighter.

one person will never change a laptop that he is happy with unless they are chasing the specs. smile.gif

you already have a good CPU rig, so that makes your gaming session on a PC more worth than on a laptop.
