He disappeared in the Sierra Nevada mountain range at the age of 23, back in 1942. Two hikers in 2005 discovered his frozen remains decades later, still wearing a sweater near an unopened parachute. The part of the plane was found back in 1947, along with the rest of its passengers. The rest of the plane is supposedly still frozen, and preserved in a glacier.
