glad to know there were no casualties this time, and the damage seems minimal.
I guess it is no longer safe to stay near to hillsides. Nowadays we seem to have very frequent heavy downpours especially at the end of the year. |

QUOTE(Soros007 @ Jan 4 2013, 11:34 AM) Not good news to all MCT kingsley Hills and The Glades buyers....... Remaining unsold units will be dragged longer than expected until buyer's confident restored. "risky to buy a house here, high risk of landslide... give me additional 10% discount and I might consider" |

QUOTE(zachozoi @ Jan 8 2013, 03:54 PM) Maybe...,then these expensive & exclusive properties will be put up for sale in advertisements by investors. There are always over supply of semi-de and bungalow houses in property ads website. The actual demand are houses cost between RM400,000 to RM 800,000. Most people are middle income group. Below is information from Wikipedia. Landslides in Malaysia :- 1 May 1961 - A landslide occurred in Ringlet, Cameron Highlands, Pahang. 21 October 1993 The man-made Pantai Remis landslide caused a new cove to be formed in the coastline. 11 December 1993 - 48 people were killed when a block of the Highland Towers collapsed at Taman Hillview, Ulu Klang, Selangor. 30 June 1995 - 20 people were killed in the landslide at Genting Highlands slip road near Karak Highway. 6 January 1996 - A landslide in the North-South Expressway (NSE) near Gua Tempurung, Perak. 29 August 1996 - A mudflow near Pos Dipang Orang Asli settlement in Kampar, Perak, 44 people were killed in this tragedy. 15 May 1999 - A landslide near Bukit Antarabangsa, Ulu Klang, Selangor. Most of the Bukit Antarabangsa civilians were trapped. 20 November 2002 - The bungalow of the Affin Bank chairman General (RtD) Tan Sri Ismail Omar collapse causing landslide in Taman Hillview, Ulu Klang, Selangor. December 2003 - A rockfall in the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) near the Bukit Lanjan interchange caused the expressway to close for more than six months. 31 May 2006 - Four persons were killed in the landslides at Kampung Pasir, Ulu Klang, Selangor. 26 December 2007 – Two villagers were buried alive in a major landslide, which destroyed nine wooden houses in Lorong 1, Kampung Baru Cina, Kapit, Sarawak. 12 February 2009 - one contract worker was killed in a landslide at the construction site for a 43-storey condominium in Bukit Ceylon, Kuala Lumpur. 21 May 2011 - 16 people mostly 15 children and a caretaker of an orphanage were killed in a landslide caused by heavy rains at the Children's Hidayah Madrasah Al-Taqwa orphanage in FELCRA Semungkis, Hulu Langat, Selangor. 29 Dec 2012 - 88 residents of bungalows, shophouses and double-storey terrace houses in the Puncak Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur were ordered to move out because of soil movement. Resident Siti Mahfudzah Shahril, 34, said she was shocked at the sound of a siren and rushed out to see a landslide of about 50m high. 04 Jan 2013 - Construction at the Kingsley Hill housing project at Putra Heights has been halted temporarily following a landslide at the site that caused several vehicles to be submerged in mud.. QUOTE(gabbylim85 @ Jan 8 2013, 10:58 PM) agreed. and this is why there are many upmarket housing on hills. Absulotely correct. But to ban cigarettes n motorbike are close to impossible, just like hill development. If you value your n your family life, please avoid these three. You r not going to die without those. Same goes with sugar. Without which we are healthier. those that are worried can stay on lower grounds with everyone else, or stay high up in densely populated condos. out of so many houses built on hills, how many people died? more lives can be saved banning cigarettes and motorbikes than banning hillside development |

QUOTE(wsf @ Jan 8 2013, 03:15 PM) Exactly true. The developers will keep KILLING beautiful hills and green lung, destroying the homes of wild life animals. Bro, not just animals and plants, one bomoh told me that it is a common practice by bomoh to get rid of black magic or orang halus(eg toyol) on the jungle or hill . This means even the ghosts are not being left alone by the greedy developers. |
