i feel you bro.... ever since i came to this thread, i just have to shake my head unbelievable in reading the information relayed.. OP just in a lot of ways mislead the ppl... and you have the guts to say these! kudos

i was strugglng to bring my points across and gave up as the ppl in here are just fanboi to the max....

one very good example that you brought up.... viewing angle, its definitely poor and they said that it is good because its privacy. OOOOMMMMGGGGGosh....

anyway, this is my opinion and its forum and everyone is entitled to their opinion but pls put fanboism aside and we will have fun here  icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif

android used to be cool and the whole community was really united.... now it seems fanboi is going everywhere

fanboys are everywhere smile.gif

anyway, I recall the viewing angle has to do with PVA, which, although has deeper black and better contrast, and they claim the viewing angle is big, but color does shift when you're not looking frmo 90 degree straight, but the things on screen are still remain visible, unlike IPS and AMOLED, which maintain the color, or have way less color shift, normally unnoticeable. It's sad that Xperia Z would use that, I was hoping for a AMOLED or something..

I prefer non amoled screen over an amoled screen. However I hope Sony at least use an ips panel like the one the use in Xperia tablet s.
*
yes, I prefer IPS screen for phone, although AMOLED is not too bad as well, ,maybe just hope for a later variant of IPS screen biggrin.gif

sad but true sad.gif

yes... agreed with you
when comparing the hands on video, the icon is very washed out
as washed out as the icons on my Nexus 7
and it uses the zero gap , the icons should look like its floating, if you get what i mean. One X gives you that feel as if the icon jut out and maintaning its colour
thisZ color is def off

but take away nothing when viewing it from the correct angle....its superb!! its a nit picking from my part but other pros of this phone outweigh this con.

i am waiting for batt review and if it at par with note 2.... its definitely the perfect phone  icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif

the floating icon things i understand, been experiencing that with some Nokia phones already. I tot Nexus 7 also IPS right? shouldn't be very washed out. My TF101 is using the same screen tech and i felt that it's great too. Back to the point, it's a phone, not a tablet nor a laptop, people are not going to use it facing directly straight even half the time, i guess, and I'm very picky on color shift, it's so bad it could blind me lol, so viewing angle IMO is very important.

btw shouldn't compared to One X la, many review site claimed it's the best looking display they've seen on phone so far man.

I am tired of AMOLED. It was FAKE screen.

Please no more AMOLED screen on any phone. It is too fake to use, especially Samsung one.

But I do hope it was IPS screen on XPERIA Z.

I had checkout XPERIA V last week, it was ok, the view angle was not that bad, it won't affecting your view in daily usage.
*
define fake screen?

I dislike AMOLED for the over-saturated color, but some phones allow u to choose the color profile to be more natural. Yes, I prefer IPS more then anything else in the market now, but AMOLED is not too bad itself either, at least compared to other TFT's

Example Samsung S III (my current phone) & Note II LTE(my sister using it). Both phone standard color was over saturate.

I know it got mode to switch to so call natural, but the natural color became too dull. None of it color profile is consider  ok. It was all fail in producing the exact color in proper.

That the reason I was hopping no more AMOLED. IPS is much rules and better.

Also AMOLED black level is somehow over, it often crushing the details on dark area.
*
I been using a N9 with color set to natural, and i feel that the color, at first is slightly washed away, but that's due to me being used to over-saturated color, and now i dont feel them anymore, I felt it looked ok, with very deep punch of black.

but although, as what i said, I still prefer the color that a IPS screen gives me.

+1

I have a GS2, Nexus 7 and iPad 2.
the GS2 which have a Super Amoled screen is the best for me on watching videos,
for text reading i Prefer the Nexus 7,
iPad2 screen is preety poor. of coz coz its lower ppi.
*
just the PPI, in fact, among some of the IPS tablets, the display has been compared and it showed that iPad's screen actually has the best in contrast and color gamut. Not sure about the recent retina display ones though

QUOTE(soulseeker6187 @ Jan 18 2013, 11:39 AM)
color saturation on a phone is self preference.
its not like im going to do graphic editing on a phone.
I always use my phone to watch videos, and amoled gives the most pleasant experience, coz of the deep black and vibrant colors.
*
Despite that, I would still wanna have a lean towards natural color, although i know vivid looks good. Example, maybe when i take a picture, i take a look at my phone, it looks great due to the vivid coloring, but when i check it again on my computer, suddenly i notice the color might be slightly washed out, or the picture might not be as good as i thought it is. there are some things that i would like to avoid. icon_rolleyes.gif

i felt its pretty washed out.... and pretty everyone said the same thing,
the only reason i chose N7 over ipad mini was the text readability on N7

yeah, one X rocks on display dept
*
hmm, then i'm sure it's the default color adjustment, nothing to do with viewing angle biggrin.gif

this is amusing

blacker blacks and whiter whites are what everyone strives to.

and you are saying deeper blacks is no good?

hmm.gif

is like saying my phone battery lasts too long, causing me to use my charger less..  hmm.gif
*
well, maybe cos phone screens typically have lower contrast so darked normally means dark details gone.. not sure how the S-PVA is going to fare in this category.

QUOTE(junsheng @ Jan 18 2013, 02:07 PM)
i think u need to read the what the person said
before you say fanboys are everywhere
here is a article to let you know the true difference between those LCD
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/panel_technologies.htm
*
my bad, so it's not color shift, but gamma shift. But that doesnt change the fact that S-PVA will have some viewing problem when phone is not used straight. And from a few demo video, i think the gamma shift is quite obvious, to my eyes, hence i was saying, better off using IPS or AMOLED

plus, I'm agreeing on his statement on fanboys are everywhere, not necessarily saying about you

that's not what the person i was quoting was saying.

he / she said that AMOLED sucks because its black is too black

how stupid can someone get? its a desirable trait that people are striving to right? check out anandtech and they said blacker screens are better, no?

this is absurd
*
yea, agree on that.. lol
AMOLED's problem is consuming a lot more power then typical TFT when displaying all white, and also bad performance under sunlight, but the latter has been improve a lot, and hence i would say AMOLED is not bad now..

btw, i think junsheng said something about AMOLED will in the end consume more power, but android system is dark themed since gingerbread, because it is optimized for AMOLED, and typically AMOLED displaying dark themed color, even grey, is a lot lower then AMOLED, so if you're talking about AMOLED on android, it does save more power compared to a typical backlit screen

xperia z hardware don't not support the new 64bit implementation only

but it does support the power management
n multi-rom,  i hope tat atlease they will used it lar

bcauz after tis we will sell only very little whn we do multi-rom  laugh.gif
*
dont put your hope high, even if mult-rom is supported, it's would most likely be disabled, or used to dual boot other OS, like Ubuntu for phone maybe, instead of letting u to have 2 custom ROMs, or, if you use the second ROM partition, your warranty will be voided.. manufacturers always find ways to screw hackers up, lol
