Hi AsusTech,

I am trying to set up my HP P1102 laser printer for sharing with DSL-N12U... and I get problem.

Under Asus router utility. P1102 is showed as enabled. However when I try to add printer under Win7... cannot detect the printer... what is the printer's IP... is it the Asus router's IP or is it assigned another IP?

Thanks!

I have the dsl N12U b1. And have been trying to set up my HP P1102 laser printer to the router's print server. I have no luck searching for how to add the printer to my computer other then adding it as tcp/ip with the router's ip address as the printer host. Please advise... this thing is not as plug and play as it is supposed to be. The router recognised the printer... but it is not possible to properly add it to my pc's printer port ect....

Hi skywardsword,

There is a CD inside the box where you can use the utilities to do the connection between the router and the printer.

Here you can have a look of the printer support list from the below link.
http://event.asus.com/2009/networks/printe...rt/dsl_n12u.htm

You can download the utilities from our website also if you lost the CD.
http://www.asus.com/Networking/DSLN12U_B1/#support

Thank you
*
The instruction on CD and manual and even online I tried already... it does not provide details on how to add the printer in Window's operating system*specifically windows 7. Please check with your tech support.

It is something similar but we just can't compare enterprise and consumer gear.

One Ruckus AP cost like RM2K minimum and I haven't include the controller and license.

The Lyra is RM2K++ for a pack of 3 devices.
2 Gigabit Ether ports per AP

Yes. It comes with AiProtection and even Adaptive QoS. smile.gif

My work place, using ubiquiti. A month plus ago, lightning strike and killed a few computer, plus the fortigate, and Double conversion ups, cctv ect... but the uniquiti AP survived. (a plus for my house as we get lightning strike frequently)

I am thinking about getting ubiquiti AC lite. Since I already ran a few ethernet cables around the house.

I think the band steering for ubiquiti sounds really good.

Cause now I am just using the tplink c7 and tplink c5(tm provided one) as AP, but frequently the client donno which one better to connect and keep switching back and forth.

But ubiquiti dont have Trend micro Aiprotection... so I am a bit worried, cause I do use the home network to do some work plus you know lah online banking.... My worst fear is losing money.

I deployed UBNT gears before, they are great but get at least the UBNT AC Pro. There's a bit of learning curve and you still need another router unless you decided to get the UBNT USG.

Regarding the client keep switching between 2 APs, it happens when 2 APs are placed too close to each other.

Or, you can replace your entire setup with a new router from Asus since you want AiProtection and observe if the performance is sufficient.

Edit: I use cal lab for lightning protection, so far so good. Check out their thread on Garage Sales, local company with outstanding product.  smile.gif

Thanks. I am also using cal lab. Plus also bought a double conversion ups. So far no burn modem or routers. But it is since I switch to fiberoptic. Last time one year change modem and router 2-3 times due to lightning strike....Omg.

Followed jayceooi recommendation. Gearbest. But it is buying from China. So I try to follow his instructions on how to buy at gearbest. U should too.

http://www.jayceooi.com/buy-gearbest-products-malaysia/

Edit: Ur budget rm600. Get the rt-1300uhp locally rm550.

I go into this knowing I might lose rm850. Online China is a risk and you might need 3yr warranty so I think u better take local.

I know, by right it should.  I tried to connect few times still failed.  I know Malaysia stock has a drop down list to select the ISP, however my firmware does not have it.  I suspect it's due to that.  Still struggling to figure out how to connect.    Is there any service centre here whereby I can send my router to test?

Search for vlan tagging. Internet is vlan 500

Once that is set up. Will be ok. Happened to my China bought rt-ac86u.

I am not home. So no ss.

i also know those...

more $$$, for large houses, usb port, print share...

i don't need those features.

just a no frills ac router, like the rm199 rtn12hp fast ethernet which is superb.

I jump into the bandwagon to try Asus ac86u.

I will say for normal usage ok. If full time VPN. I think not that steady.

My next try is 2 years later I will definitely try a mikrotik and meddle with it.

Hi Asusmy, can you check for us. Does aiprotection also scan the guest network that I setup?

I am trying to setup a guess network that I hope is not scanned by aiprotection, it runs a VPN to my users external company.(work from home) I prefer to not have it scan as I think it bogs the router then the VPN is running and aiprotection plus QoS is running.

@ASUSmy

I manage to get my RT-AC86U, to run my vpn properly, after I flashed Merlin.

I might eventually switch back to stock.

Anyhow, I did some light stress test, speedtest, light torrenting, netflix running. And after just 10 minute I observe the following.

Temperatures = 2.4 GHz: 57°C - 5 GHz: 61°C - CPU: 83°C

Is 83 degrees celsius normal temperature?

CPU Load Average (1, 5, 15 mins) = 3.27, 3.42, 3.55

The CPU cores, 1 and 2 I saw only went up to 20-30% highest.
