ASUSmy,

do you have any update/solution for the multicast issue faced by the AC86U users?

I'm referring to this problem: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=90534068

Hi neuromancerx, ulala2 & stinky,

Sorry for the delay, our RD still looking into the problem, will update ASAP once got the fix firmware.

In the meantime you can try use the remote control to go stand by mode and on again to see whether the HyppTV will have display or not.

Thank you

I doubt ASUS will fix this issue. Not sure if your RD team really looking into this, but i have seen this case already observed and reported since June, that is almost 6 months already.

If i know this unique issue is related to AC86U SoC, i will definitely avoid this model and opted for lower or higher model.

Ah, I was on the other install page which doesn't mention this. Thank you, that was exactly the problem.

However, after installing, I read the faqs and found out it doesn't block YouTube ads.

Is there any other way of blocking YouTube ads on the router level?

I dont think you can block youtube and/or fb ads by using DNS based blocking solution ie Pi Hole or diversion. Most of the ads were served by the same server/domain that hosted the content. You need a content based filtering such as uBlock which only works on internet browser level instead of the dns/network level.

Nomal for me. I turned on network analysis & protection, run diversion and it hovering around 70-85 percent of memory.

I have this weird issue suddenly. When i have a client connected to this network (wired and wireless), client able to get DHCP. However client unable to ping this router LAN ip address which is the default gateway address. Client still able to ping other devices in the network.

From Windows workstation i can see router's mac address from arp and nbtstat command.

I just factory reset the router however the observing the same issue. It happened to certain clients only ie my PC, another workstation and few smartphones.

I have pi-hole and i want all client to use this as sole DNS server. Below is my router DHCP option setting, i explicitely set my pi-hole address (192.168.50.53) only

However, i can see router's ip address being advertised as additional/secondary DNS server also

I remembered there is an option or check box to advertise router's ip address as additional dns server, but i could not find it.

How can i remove router address from being advertised as DNS?

Yeah it's one of the annoyances of AsusWRT
I think the checkbox is only on newer firmware (386) or Merlin

An alternative is to set via cli, follow this comment on Reddit
https://www.reddit.com/r/pihole/comments/ma...comment/grva31i

So note that you'll probably have leaks over ipv6 as well

Followed the instructions and my problem is now solved. Thanks for sharing the link.

Hi @ASUSmy,

Hi have a PPPoE account that comes with 5 public IPs (/29) from local telco.  Is it possible to use Asus router to assign those IPs via DHCP to my clients and use WAN IP as it's gateway.  I have not found any guide only to do this.  Appreciate your feedback on such setup.

Thanks
*
1. Not sure why you want to assign public ip directly to your dhcp client
2. Theoretically, you can set 1 of the public ip as asus router LAN IP
3. Under DHCP range, define the 2nd to 5th (same subnet with router LAN IP)
