Planning to upgrade ac1300uhp due to no aimesh, looking at ac66u b1 and ax56u which is better? budget below rm500, any other asus model within that range, no need usb feature....
also may want to pair it with lyra trio in the future with aimesh... This post has been edited by entaro: Jul 12 2020, 02:02 PM |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Jul 12 2020, 06:35 PM) I used to have a S10 as well, the max I can get is 700Mbps on the main node. OK thanks for the feedback, I need better coverage and he said no issue with the router, so I'll probably take the risk, cross fingers lolI guess this is more of a hardware limitation. The iPhone 11 with the same WiFi chip perform similarly. Hmm, this is a tough choice. The RT-AC88U is a well-built router but it's older now and doesn't come with warranty. I believe the coverage of the RT-AC88U is better than RT-AX56U as well. Older routers are prone to failure so this will be your call. Go to the web interface Wireless > Professional You can manually configure wireless scheduler over there. |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Jul 12 2020, 06:35 PM) Hmm, this is a tough choice. Hmm, I think if I add rm250 I can get ax3000, is ax3000 coverage as good as ac88u? And can voip for maxis still works? Only con is 4 vs 8 gigabit LAN ports also ax3000 only has MU-MIMO 2x2... why???The RT-AC88U is a well-built router but it's older now and doesn't come with warranty. QUOTE(kwai_83 @ Jul 15 2020, 09:26 AM) actually you still need use maxis router for voip.Means asus lan port 3 usually is for IPTV profile plug at behind asus Lan3 and connect to your maxis stock router wan port.if u using as main router for asus Thanks Kwai for the feedback, currently I dont have not many devices with WIFI 6. I will look at ac86u as well.It depends what's is your need You can consider go for ac86 4x4 mu mimo now price drop below 700 is a good deal.I Am also a ac86 user also due to my routers waiting RMA claim thats why I buy ax3000 . I can said depends on how many user you using your connection speed and izzit all your devices can support wifi 6 ornot. Yeah, I'm using maxis default router for voip, ac1300uhp LAN 3 connect to maxis router WAN port and phone connect to the rj11 jack. About 24 client connections, my biggest requirement is wifi coverage as well as no lag gaming This post has been edited by entaro: Jul 15 2020, 02:05 PM |

QUOTE(entaro @ Jul 16 2020, 09:37 AM) Yeah decided to go with AC86U... as it's newer and looks to be on par with ac88u , except the number of LAN port and port aggregation Just got the AC86U, the performance is ichiban!! 3 to 4x better than the current router (ac1300uhp) in term of performance, range and connectivity... now I can be ready to mesh the system... kwai_83 liked this post

QUOTE(kwai_83 @ Jul 18 2020, 06:11 PM) yeah superb deal, got it less than RM650, I suspect 7.7 even cheaper, can wait for 8.8 or 9.9... the router boosted the 5ghz and 2.4 ghz signal and speed 3x compare to ac1300uhp... well worth it... used ac1300uhp as AP... so putting aimesh on hold for now since coverage all done, almost no dead spot currently.... very happy with ac86U....Just tips for you guys, set the 5ghz to 80mhz and used netspot app to check the channel crowding... my area channel 1 (2.4ghz) and 149 for main and 11 and 36 for AP... the 80mhz is sick in ac86u. If you dont have AP set up, the 5ghz should set to channel 36, i find this channel has the best performance interm of wall penetration and coverage |

QUOTE(stalvinchew @ Jul 18 2020, 10:41 PM) Hi, need some advice on the following: What is your current AP model? If they can support aimesh, then use them as aimesh node as well instead of AP.I am planning to connect 2 of my existing access pointS (static IP) to 2 of Lyra device via ethernet and want to create only one SSID for this network using AiMesh. Can anyone give me some guide here. Thanks in advance Aimesh can use one SSID or seperate for 2ghz and 5ghz... In fact for AP, you can use same SSID too... just that devices may not roam too well with it.... |

QUOTE(goliath @ Aug 14 2020, 10:58 AM) Hi all, need some opinion on getting new a wireless router to have better connectivity. Yes definitely it will helpCurrent setup : Single user on 100Mb line hooking up to Asus RT-AC1200G+ wireless router situated in living room and laptop in bedroom (about 5 meters away with a wall in between) Problem : Although I can surf the net and stream YouTube without issues, it is when during conference call, the other side would say my line is not clear/ breaking up and I had to move my laptop to living room which is closer to the wireless router. Plan : Replacing the existing Asus RT-AC1200G+ with RT-AX3000 but not sure this would help since my laptop is old unit. Any thoughts whether this (changing wireless router) will improve my connectivity? |

QUOTE(junclj @ Aug 18 2020, 10:29 AM) There's no need to do limit if you really have 800mbps. Usually your friend won't keep download and upload for 24/7 unless they have 1,000PB harddisk and downloading like never ending. Usually a normal use user won't consume a lot of bandwidth, mostly just around 100~300mbps for doing some Youtube and online video streaming. Even gaming also not consuming bandwidth. Gaming is more depending on latency not bandwidth. Limiting a speed in your router will cause drop down your router performance. This will make your router performance getting even worse. So, just reset your router and don't touch anything in the QoS setting. Correct, it'a all down to the router, I had the problem with AC1300UHP, after upgrade to AC86U, all issue gone... AX3000 is a powerful router, and can ensure everyone will get enjoyable speed.Be fair and everyone enjoy full speed download, there have really not neccessary to limit the speed with 800mbps. Mobile phones won't consume a lot of bandwidth, just leave it full speed. If you load a video for 5 secs with 800mbps by comparing 1 minutes for 100mbps after you limit your friend's bandwidth. Why don't just leave it 800mbps? 5 secs only won't cost you a lot. Besides that, not everyone will always getting 800mbps full speed on wifi. There is really wasting of time and wasting of performance to limit your router speed. As long as you need to get a good performance router, your router need a good CPU, more RAM but not to limit your friends wifi speed. Sometimes the reason why cause you no internet and need to keep restart that router, which is because your main router is not powerful enough. It's not about your friend keep downloading and using the internet. My home has Unifi 500mbps too but I never limit my router speed. My parents all using the wifi on their phones and my mum also watching online video streaming and IPTV. I also download my games in epic games store for 40~50MB/s without any problem. They still able to stream their Youtube, facebook video, online streaming fluently. After half hour, I already done download my 50GB game. My home bandwidth get back to 500mbps full speed again. Fast and not necessarily to do QoS. You should think positive way, bro. 800mbps is more about the problem of your PC running out of harddisk space fast, not about the problem of bandwidth issue. 800mbps is not a big issue as long as you get a powerful main router. |
