RT n56u is shit router. Really shit. Wireless keep dropping every 10 minutes. Tried every firmware, even custom. In the end have to bridge it with DIR-615, which defeats the purpose of buying it in the first place. Just plain utter shit router.

look at all the complaints.

Hi... I am using rtn56u and I don't suffer from this kind of problem. I love this router very much, fast transfer, powerful signal.
My firmware is the latest padavan custom firmware. 3.4.3.7-071
I don't suffer any stability issue. No wifi drops etc..
Did you get a faulty set?

That time I am using the original firmware. (Assuming the latest one).
I frequently use my Hard Disk on the rtn56u router as a SAMBA server so that I can access my anime via my iPhone.
But one day, I plugged in the Hard Disk an the rtn56u gone like failsafe. Only one powerled is on and Hard Disk is spinning when I plugged in the harddisk.
The next thing I do is, install padavan custom firmware and so far so good. Not even a single crash of router.

So, what I am assuming the original firmware have some issue with harddisk. When NTFS harddisk (500GB) is plugged in, it's kernel crash.
Now happily using padavan latest custom firmware.
