Hi, can i know which is the latest firmware for RTN12HP? Via the link on frontpage is 3.0.0.4.376.4018. If I search on Asus it is 3.0.0.4.378.9443 ? Which is the correct version? tnx

Was wondering the same myself... I just dug out my old 12 HP after having some problems with the D-link AC 750 (Dir 816). The answer to your question will depend on what Revision of RTN 12HP you got.. If you have the B1 you can flash the latest which is 3.0.0.4.378.9443.
This leads to my question addressed to ASUS MY.. Both revision of the router started of using same firmware version numbers, with the first upgrade to 4018 fixing the same issues.. The B1 then got 3 more updates to the current 9443 with numerous security and other upgrades... Does this mean that the non B1 revision is still lacking the following??

ASUS RT-N12HP_B1 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.7449

Security fixes
- Enhanced the login authentication strength and fixed related issues.
- Forced administrator to change the default password "admin" in internet setup wizard.
- Added protection mechanism for GUI login brute-force attack for login username and password.
- Administrator can assign a specified IP to login GUI in Administration > System > "Allow only specified IP.
- Fixed CSRF and XSS vulnerability when router is in default status.
- Fixed infosvr security issue.

ASUS RT-N12HP_B1 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9165

Security Fixes
- Fixed CVE-2015-6949 buffer overflow issue, special thanks for Elvis Collado at Praetorian.
- Fixed Web server Accept-Language buffer overflow, special thanks for Elvis Collado at DVLabs.
- Fixed Web server URL handler buffer overflow special thanks for Elvis Collado at DVLabs.
- Fixed CSRF and XSS vulnerability.
- Fixed infosvr security issue
- Enhanced router login password and wireless password (WPA2) strength check method to against brute-force attack.
- Reject administrator to set too easy to guess login and wireless password to avoid brute-force attack.

ASUS RT-N12HP B1 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9443

Security fixes:
- Fixed User-Agent buffer overflow.
- Fixed null ptr dereference in https issue.
- Fixed buffer overflow issues.
- Modified brute-force protection mechanism in router login page.
- Fixed CVE-2015-6949 buffer overflow issue.
- Fixed Web server Accept-Language buffer overflow.
- Fixed Web server URL handler buffer overflow.
- Fixed CSRF and XSS vulnerability.
- Enhanced router login password and wireless password(WPA2) strength check method to against brute-force attack.
- Reject administrator to set too easy to guess login and wireless password to avoid brute-force attack.
- Fixed CSRF and XSS vulnerability when router is in default status (user does not set the router yet)..

As you can see there has been extensive work to get the B1 Patched and updated....
Is the non B1 Rev safe to use without all these security updates??

Thanks for your help

AsusMy,

Does this ring any bells???

ASUS Malaysia is glad to officially announce the immediate forum support thread for ASUS Networking Products. In order to provide the best support, we have position one dedicated staff to monitor as well as provide support to all existing/new ASUS Networking customer. ASUS Malaysia striving for the best. Cheers.

Have you been the "face" of Asus on these forums for the past 2 years? If so I can understand your lack of motivation.. Same questions day in day out.. Maybe its about time for a substitution??

Anyway, I'll ask this for the last time... Have Asus stopped support for the non B1 RT-N12HP?? I've been using it for the last 4 days, but it has started dropping connection again..(Latest firmware - 3.0.0.4.376_4018 and reset done after update). I don't want to go back to D-Link or try another brand, BUT I would like an explanation for the discontinuation of updates prior to investing in another Asus.

Your acknowledgement would be appreciated icon_rolleyes.gif

Thank You thumbup.gif

Hi,

As tested on LAN port, the download from router's USB drive was 11mB/s without other disk activity. Destination disk is SSD.

Is this acceptable speed or considered in slow range?
*
When using a network cable from laptop to my RT-AC55UHP with USB 2 storage connected I'll get around 22 MB/s. It's a lot slower when using the Wifi, only approx 4.5 MB/s.. My laptop is quite old though, Have been searching for a replacement wireless card but can't find one locally, will maybe buy a USB AC adaptor..

Can I get a suggestion?

What's the best router option for a 4500sqf 2 story bungalow?

Usage not heavy. 4-5 devices running Facebook/YouTube/netflix and 1 ps4 for online gaming.

Currently using 5mbps unifi with default router woth plans to upgrade to 30mbps.

No need high end. Most important is coverage and stability. Dual-band not necessary.
*
I've got the AC 55 UHP and its covering that size no problem whatsoever, it's not even placed in the ideal location either..
This is by no means a high end router but when you start going cheaper you are sacrificing on the chipsets and amount of RAM, you might then start to lose the stability that you desire..

Hi ahpaul82,

Can you try updating the firmware from the link below? Remember to do a factory reset after the update.

Do save your UNIFI account user name and password.

Thank you

Hi,
Is the above firmware final release? I installed on my unit but noticed the CPU usage was stuck at 100% and RAM around 80 MB used.. Reflashed to original which fixed the CPU but my RAM is still hovering around the same, only 40 MB left.. I can't remember if it was the same before the flash.. Is this RAM usage normal?

Apart from that the router is doing a fantastic job covering quite a large house with 15 to 20 clients connected rclxms.gif

Cheers

Hi Skoosha,

May I know what is your router models? Because RT-N14UHP only have 64MB RAM only.

We have just moved home and waiting for unifi installation, during this time I have been using the hotspot from my phone for Internet..but it is not great coverage...Google says I am supposed to be able to just plug the android phone into the usb and turn on the USB tethering then I can share the phone connection through the router afterI have selected USB WAN in the Asus setup page 192.168.1.1...
Have tried with 2 different phones and it's still not working???
Has anyone used this feature on the 55UHP before?

ASUSMY,
The last time you pointed to a new firmware release for this router... It still isn't on the global site?? Any idea if the beta is safe to use?
Thanks

No,
CPU <20%
RAM (PC) <42% (Total RAM is 8GB)
Router RAM used : <50%
*
It was the router CPU that was high for me...

Anyway I've flashed this newer build of the beta and it has sorted out the high CPU usage. I can also now use the USB tethering from Android... Thanks MYASUS rclxms.gif

AsusMY,

I have to use my unit in AP mode since we now have streamx until unifi install a new port..
Anyway, when I connect to the WiFi (AC 55 in AP mode)with my phone it causes my iPad to lose connection to the internet( still connected to the router) as soon as I turn off my phone WiFi the ipads internet connection is immediately restored...
Using the latest Beta as provided by yourself... Factory reset done after flash. Twice 😉
Logs attached...
Thanks

Hey! I just purchased N18U few days ago and setup my UniFi connection without issue. However, when I tried to do a manual lan tagging for port 4 (am not using IPTV, so don't want waste it), the Internet connection stopped working.. after changing it back to UniFi profile then everything is working fine again... any solution for this?
*
Selecting unifi business is supposed to free up the port regular usage

RT-AC55UHP run on 12V. Any 12V 2A adapter should work. smile.gif

The RT-AC68U run on 19V, probably a printing error on Asus side
*
Thanks, but not any 12V - 2A will work.. I need someone to confirm the polarity of the barrel plug..

If the transformer doesn't have any of those symbols, could someone check it with a multi meter?
