Is there a guide how to configure the skyworth combo modem GN630V to use with Asus router?

I read about using bridge mode but what about the settings on the Asus router?
How do you access the skyworth after turn it bridge mode in case I want to return it back to original settings?

Alternatively is it possible to have two APs? One from the skyworth and one from Asus co-exist?

Need a detailed guide cause I know nothing.

Here you go, you can grab the PPPOE credentials from skyworth and put it into your 3rd party router of choice

VLAN tagging / IPTV Profile / VLAN profile not needed on your router with this configuration
Remember to switch off the WiFi function once that's done.

You'll need to setup your computer's ethernet like this in order to access the settings of the 2 in 1 after putting it into bridge mode

Just checking, anyone here using AX88U with 3.0.0.4.388_24224 or newer firmware?
DDNS seems to stop working (www.asus.com) and cant be registered using this domain. Even when registered through the app it would stopped working after restarting the router

Hi QuantumEdge,

May I ask does the problem still happening even with the latest firmware?

When you click Apply button in the router GUI, are you able to register the DDNS again? Does it show "Registration is successful."

Thank you

I'm running 3.0.0.4.388_24284 at the moment
Still the same, with no option to use ASUS's DDNS (asuscomm.com)
Need to set it through the app, but once I restarted the router it would be disabled again

Had this bug previously, reset the router fixed it

Tried, still the same
This happened even on recent Merlin builds somehow

Your RT-AX88U is local unit or china unit?

FYI DDNS function is removed on all China units

China, but before that particular version it worked perfectly fine

Yup, that explains it all

You are actually using a China specific model and it's not the RT-AX88U sold by ASUS Malaysia

DDNS is now illegal in China so ASUS disabled it on all China SKU

Ah got it, I will stick to the older firmware then

Anyone here running AX88u with XT8 on wired mesh?
Any issues?
Saw some comments online saying mix matching devices isnt the best combo due to stability and connection issues?

It's fine. AiMesh between same platform / codebase is very stable. Both AX88U and XT8 are Broadcom based.

I have a AX88U + XD6 setup for one of my family member that I only visit once a year, never got any complain calls. laugh.gif

In fact, even AX88U + BE58U would be fine.

Thanks for the feedback
Have you ever tried to mesh BE88u with AX88u before?
In a bit of a dilema, since if I choose BE88u I could prep my house for 2.5G but a used XT8 is way cheaper

If I'm not mistaken you must have the exact same Asus router for MLO to work.
If you value MLO in WiFi 7, keep that in mind.

Guess I will stick to Wifi 6 then, wait till wifi 7 routers are on discounts
Thanks

I like the performance of BE88U though laugh.gif

The current XT8 V2 on sale now perform pretty much same if not slightly better than AX88U

Slightly overpriced rclxub.gif
