Hi Asusmy,

The wireless router provided by Maxis (Huawei brand - but the wifi name is ThomsonXXXXX) is really bad as it doesn't cover the upstairs & front of the house which is where my room is. The router is located at the downstairs & back of the house, and the distance between back and front is about 30-feet (approximately).

I just recently bought a repeater from Aztech and it's a complete waste of money as it did not provide any sort of additional coverage at all. I'm OK with using wifi repeaters as long as I can watch Youtube videos and surf net .

My questions are:
1) Can Asus support Maxis FTTH/replace the router provided by them?
2) How good is the wireless coverage of the Asus router as I've not been able to get any information on this.
3) Do I need to pair a repeater with the wireless router or is the router good enough?

Thanks! I've had enough of surviving on 3G in my room. sad.gif

no wireless router can support whole house and double storey, you should take walls into consideration instead of just distance. plus you placed your router at the back of your house which is not appropriate.

re-location router + homeplug, should be the solution. forget about wireless repeater.

1.    2.4 GHz can cover further than 5Ghz, dunno why?

2.    let say my wireless router behind 4 lan ports all use up oledi, and now i got a new pc wanna connect thru lan line, how ??

1. high frequency = high speed = less converage, low frequency = low speed = wide coverage

2. get a 5/8 port switch(gigabit), connect it with 1 of the router port, then you'll have extra port to use.
