Hi,

I got an N66U that stops working when the firework goes off last night. I was told to send it in to Wisma SPS service centre. Is there a service centre nearer to PJ? Preferably opens during weekends, that's when I'm off.

Thanks.

Hi,

The plastic ring on my antennas (RT-N66U) are cracked. Is there replacement for sale or is it covered under warranty?

Thanks.

ASUSmy, I just got call to collect my wifi router sent for warranty. The retailer guy told me nothing was replaced in my router, just test. Would you be able to check in your system if any repair was carried out on my router?

I'll PM you my serial number, if you able to check. Please advise.

Hi Harddisk,

Sorry for the late reply, I have checked the serial number given and found that the service department tested the router is okay and return back to you.

I will inform the service to check and test it thoroughly before closing the RMA.

Thank you.

Hi ASUSmy,

Thanks for putting the efforts to check for me.

On a side note, please inform your technician of the following points, some which were not noted down by Best Point Service Center.
QUOTE
- Unit collected on 2015-09-30.
- Setup and configured to run from 10pm and device failed somewhere in midnight.
- WIFI: no LED on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi.
- LAN: able to ping device (based on PC’s earlier assigned IP).
- Web management failed to load.
- DHCP does not assign IP on LAN port.

Yup but they are very reliable. Working great and never regret buying it...
My advise is to install a good surge protector to protect it from lighting strike and spike. I use the Karldon Nimitz M8 to protect my equipment...  thumbup.gif

I beg to differ. Mine still in "kilang", waiting for them to test on my issue.

Google partnership with Asus to make OnHub wifi router. Is it going to be sold here? And how much will it cost?

Well, I got my RT-N66U from Viewnet, Lowyat. They asked me to go Asus centre 4th floor opposite of Maxis centre.

Asus centre then routed me back to Viewnet. Going up and down, being tai chi up and down. Finally I asked Asus centre politely, who can I go to.  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

Brought me over to Best Point (somehow the shop name also shows PC-Zone centre something).

According to "policy", need to pay RM40 verbally to me as it is after 1 year warranty period (but still within 3 years). Later print out receipt, shows pay RM30 once successful claim.  sweat.gif

Best Point can eat shit!

First time send in, took my RM30, didn't properly describe the problem on my RT-N66U to Asus Service Centre. Unit returned within 3 weeks, without any fix. Lost my receipt and box was in bad shape. Diagnosis said "tested without problem."

Tested can't even last 8 hours, router gila again. Drove all the way there, send in again. Open a job sheet, but they decided to keep it in their store instead. Router never get to reach Asus the second time.

Asus should do something about Best Point.

Oh my goodness... Which shop/distributor you bought from?

According to Best point, they are the service center for all Lowyat shops. Not sure how true.

My case, didn't pay rm30 until the claim is successful. I ensure the receipt for the job sheet was written clearly on my power button not able to turn on and port faulty.

Now I'm worried. Asus should really do something about this. Puzzling why accepting all other Asus products but not networking.

Same as dreamthief, I bought my RT-N66U from Viewnet and was asked to bring to Best Point. Before this, I have personally sent into Asus Service Centre (beside Imbi Plaza) before.

What I can say is, Best Point is a con job!

USB storage access speed on my RT-AC66U is very bad. Is this due to hardware limitation of the router?

Hi Harddisk,

RT-AC66U are using USB 2.0 only, may I know what type of file and the speed that you get when transferring, do you have any other external hard disk to test?

Can you try transferring using LAN port to test the speed?

Thank you

Hi,

As tested on LAN port, the download from router's USB drive was 11mB/s without other disk activity. Destination disk is SSD.

Is this acceptable speed or considered in slow range?

I have a couple of Asus routers, a RT-N12-D1 and a RT-N16. I'm planning to use it as a torrent downloader so I dun have to turn on my Mac all the time. Maybe save some TNB. Maybe also want to try some of the Asus Cloud features.

What's the best firmware to use?

I'm total noob to Asus routers but quite familiar with Mikrotik & Cisco routers and networking in general.

Never got the torrent to work previous on my RT-N66U.
