Have anyone of you ever published something which is related to your thesis before graduation?
Let's say if you are carrying a small scale project using some variables similar to your PhD thesis and you manage to publish it prior to the viva voce examination.
Now, can you still claim you have a contribution from your PhD thesis if you yourself have published it prior to Viva Voce?

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Dec 31 2012, 10:24 PM) Yeah, its the case for the Biology field I'm in.. I've already published 2 papers 1st, then only write thesis (Plagiarising from own papers XD) May I know whether you are pursuing the traditional PhD route or the PhD by publication route?

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Jan 2 2013, 10:10 AM) Err... what do you mean "traditional" bro? Traditional as in need to submit thesis? UM actually allows students to omit the submission of thesis if they publish 3 ISI (Q1/Q2) articles iinm. I've achieved that requirement, but since my scholarship will give extra incentives for writing thesis, why not write? I see. That's the one. 3 publications in lieu of a traditional thesis. (The PhD by publication route).
