i am about to replace my 215 45 17 tires. am interested with michelin pilot sports 3, continental CSC5, Yokohama C drive 2 and good year eagle F1. my main concern is comfort and longevity. can anyone give me the best offer for all the brands.

currently using Kumho KH17 on my forte and it is a noisy tires. i am wondering if it will get any better for any one of the brands i shortlisted..

can scratch out yokohama c drive 2 when it comes to longevity (tread wear)

consider either michelin ps3 or gy eagle f1 as2 or yokohama advan db (v551)

depends on how u drive. My C Drive 2 is already 15K and still looks good without much tyre wear. I check my tyre pressure once 1-mth. Pump about 3 psi above the recommended tyre pressure

PS3 does not last that long too but it all depends on the driver. I have friends who have been using PS3.. 20K km already quite botak..

Mine so far is on 11k km... Still doing good.

Because I do rotation every 10k km.. and I have a habit of touching the tyre surface to see if I need to go fix the alignment...

generally yeah. wet grip not so great, however if you're not whacking corners in wet and just going straight, the traction is pretty decent. minimal aquaplaning unless the water level if covering entire tire then i still get some aquaplaning driving around 70-90km/h. (my car old school carbie with minimal electronics, air intake also very high up, so not that worried on floods)

35k km is very possible if you aren't an aggressive driver.

for me, i think i've clocked around 19-20k km? looks half worn give/take.
and i do drive decently aggressive and once a while do touge/long sprints/long distance drivings.

so it isn't as bad as some people put it to be. however again, it depends on one's expectations, some expect their tires to last full 3+ years, and over 100k km. c drive 2 100% cannot do that, at least for my usage smile.gif

havent used the falken before myself so can't comment too much.

however from feedbacks i've gathered from other users, the c drive 2 would definitely win on comfort/low NVH and that is among my priorities in tires smile.gif

Dear sifoos,

Related to this topic, need advice for my brother who is driving a Picanto, with OEM size of 175/50R15

Recently he had to change original rims (same size) when changing tyres due to 2 front rims found dented

I suspect due to the low profile of the OEM size of Goodyear NCT5

Therefore appreciate sifoos recommendation between R14 and R15, with priority of more protection to rim and increase comfort, for next change

Thanx in advance

should have just repaired the rims instead of getting them changed. unless its just steel/oem rims changing to sport rims

r14/r15 not too much difference on tire profile if you want a thicker profile to protect rims. not to mention very limited choices on getting good tires. then again if you're not keen on getting good/performance tires, and usually drive under speed limits, can consider R13 instead
