Just wanna ask do you guys normally service in Honda Service Centre or 'outside'?
Sent my car for 20k service and it costs 550 :0
Breakdown:
1xx for semi synthetic engine oil
around 100 for gearbox oil
1xx labour fees
3x + 4x for engine cleaner or something like thar
air con filter...

Is it worth to service in Honda Service Centre?
*
Your car mileage is only 20K so I assume still under warranty, better stick with Honda Service Center. If you service outside, they can decline the warranty claim if anything happen to your car.

Next time before you agree for the service, ask them to remove all the optional extra like the engine cleaner or all other crap. Just tell them do the required one only.

I use Mineral Oil so my service cost is around what is written down in their site.

Anyone here already did their 40k? Below is what I think they will charge.

- Engine oil
- Oil filter
- Air filter
- Trans oil
- Fuel filter
- Spark plug
- Coolant
- Brake fluid

All of these will cost about RM800++ cry.gif

I already have K/N Filter, and will opt for mineral oil. Hopefully not to expensive..

How much you bought your K&N air filter?
The price I get is RM300.

Btw, does K&N filter really helps in performance?
*
Around RM200++ or so.

Well, not really that much of a different. Only reason I use it because its practically reusable forever. Just have to clean it up once every 40k or so. Don't have to keep replacing it with a new one.

Actually don't really understand what's these air filter is, mind to explain  tongue.gif
*
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_filter

In short, engine needs air to burn fuel, but the air around us is full of crap and other harmful stuff like leaves, flies, dirt, dusk etc etc. Air filter will filter out those stuff and provide cleaner air to the engine thus more efficient and cleaner combustion.

How's mineral oil compared to semi syn/fully syn? I just switched from 0w-20 to 5w-30 but so far cant feel anything. Might consider mineral oil for next service to save cost  hmm.gif

I'm still a student now so my mum is paying for it, she kept saying that warranty is not important bla bla.. Besides, servicing in SC is indeed costly  sweat.gif

There's CITY i-Vtec 2008YM and 2009YM in Honda's website, so ours is 2009 right?
*
Mineral not bad, i honestly don't feel a different when i switch from fully to mineral.

Yeah, refer to the 2009 i-vtec one.

getting my car this saturday, and advice what to check when receiving the car?
*
No need to check kaw2, just make sure the chassis number is all identical as in the form, no dent or scratch on the body panel, fuel full tank, interior clean etc etc..

Any further issue you can raise during your first 1k service.

QUOTE(nike89 @ Oct 10 2013, 06:31 PM)
Hey, hows ur 1k service d?
Today i went sc fix the soft part at the dashboard edge.
Now alot better d, few days past i felt my dashboard also vibrate alot when on little uneven road..
Now they put some span under the soft part, now become solid already ! biggrin.gif

yeah do agree.. the noise from tyres and harshness is quite bad for a new car. been driving it 1 week. 90% the road noise is damn audible. comparing with my another car waja 7years with half worn tires, the nvh is much better than city. doh.gif
*
Soundproofing the floor and door will reduce the road noise significantly you think? Its quite expensive, just wondering if the the effect is significant than maybe can consider..

yeah..soundproofing the floor and wheel arch will reduce the tire noise. door however would depends. if you want solid thud door then its advisable to do doors also.  for city the floor soundproofing is very bad for a new car, and i believe once the tires are worn out and few years later , the noise would even louder.. sweat.gif
*
My door already got thud sound after I installed the 3M door seal. Maybe i'll do the flooring first and the door later.

Anyone here already done the floor soundproofing can give feedback?

Guys, I'm buying a new Honda City E+. do u think the modulo package (RM 2950) + extra accesories (500) is worth the money. Or I should get the body kit at outside accessorize shop ? perhaps u guys can recommend me the  modulo body kit set + accessory will cost.

BTW, I'm staying in Ampang...
*
If still got stock I say go for it.

QUOTE(mytaffeta @ Oct 14 2013, 03:59 PM)
where you did the bold above and how much it cost?

for door and floor SP, i recommend KL Auto.. costly but review is damn positive.. rclxms.gif
or @shorty5 can do the door for good price..
*
KL Auto when I did my autofoam.. I think around RM350.. forgot the price.

Yeah I'm thinking of going to Shorty as well for the floor soundproofing. See if got budget or not later.. haha.

The new city is announced for launching in 2014. who's gonna wait for it? i'm guessing it'll follow the new Vios on features. Halogens, keyless and push start, and of course new body, but same chassis and engine. hopefully better soundproffing too!  rclxms.gif

Did my 20k service today for RM420+ only.

Removed all the optional item, using mineral engine oil, did my crossing, balancing and alignment outside for RM38 only. Air blow the air-condition air filter and the external workshop serviceman told me the its like new when they open it. By the way, the air condition filter cost RM48 only, might void your air-condition warranty though, but i think Honda is being too much in that case. At least the engine filter i let them change la.
*
The cabin air filter eh? I think we should be able to replace it ourself lah, like the air filter. Shouldn't void the warranty..

QUOTE(hollyfish @ Oct 15 2013, 12:46 AM)
Do count me in if you guys are going to soundproof the floor. Maybe can get better price if do it in group? tongue.gif
*
Haha yeah good idea. Should arrange a time and we all can do it in group.

QUOTE(Str33tBoY @ Oct 15 2013, 07:22 AM)
count me in also for SP...
city nvh i would say is very gd when it's still...
d engine noise also very fine...
near to none when it's under 3k rpm...
onli d tyre & floor noise is bad...
when cruising around 140kmph...
d wind noise starts to become noisy...
so i guess after SP...
d car would be very nice to cruise...
*
I've accidently started the engine twice on idle since it is so quiet.. but once you start to cruise, the tire noise can get a little bit irritating. Wind noise not so much in my case, probably cause I had those door seal.

QUOTE(Sh@rty 5 @ Oct 15 2013, 08:02 PM)
notworthy.gif thanks for the recommendation , and yes, was talking with another City owner today , and it seems the sound proofing for the City is real bad

Here is what we would recommend, start with the floor , we used STP for the most basic package Rm 850 for the whole floor , but if we can get 3 , might be able to get it done for Rm 7xx? biggrin.gif

Or boot, basic STP at Rm 380 , FOC one layer of Thermo Sponge, those who liked our FB page should know what we mean icon_rolleyes.gif

As for the tyre , we are not doing it at the moment, as it is really very very very very subjective, regardless of which famous sp shop u go to, tyre , trust me, might regret paying so much for something so little. Unless, you guys send one white mouse to get it done first laugh.gif

Unlike the floor, same material used on any car, significant difference is there, as for tyre noise, some car spent 1.2k and doesn't reduce any noise, so same method of application might work on one car but not the other...

* there fore we always ask our customer to get a quieter tyre first , we do not wan't customer to regret spending too much on tyre sound proof, we want customer to get out from our place with a smile and positive feedback , and recommending their friends.

And of course Silent Coat , we do have it too  thumbup.gif
Like our page, and keep updated with our sound proof promotion, but the boot STP package for only Rm 380 with FOC one layer of in house thermo sponge, is something you should never missed wink.gif
*
Sh@rty, one of these day we might come and arrange a group installation for a few Cities in this thread. Make sure to give us good price brows.gif

Does soundproofing the boot area have any significant effect on the NVH of the car?

Already liked your FB page, too much poison already. tongue.gif

Am not happy with this sc in sri utama

After the last service there last week I found out they topped up tire wiyh nornal air after specifically telling them not to do so...

How I found out was when I wanted to top up the nitrogen today the tire shop told me my tires are all at currebtly 38 psi when I usually only do 30 with nitrogen...

No wonder my ride felt so damn hard these few days...

Now after sownding rm4 for top up I have to spend another rm30 to flush and refill nitrogen...
*
Dude put the big [STOP] warning sign near the tire valve. Haha. Like those K&N Air Filter warning sign biggrin.gif

Btw, does using Nitrogen really have a positive effect on the ride? More comfy? Better handling?

One question. Did u all manage to play songs from android phone connected to the USB port provided in the car?
*
I don't think that is possible since when you connect your android phone, the HU doesn't see it as a 'Mass Storage Device", but instead "MTP Device". This is due to how Android treats the USB connection, not really the HU fault.

With iPod/Iphone yes it is possible.

Wish the HU got Bluetooth then no need to connect cable anymore.

I try both iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3 before. iPhone 5 can just straight press play the music in the phone then the car speaker will play the music it's very user friendly, it can even play the sound/music of the apps when I'm using apps. But Galaxy S3 can't straight play the music from the phone maybe need configure on some settings hmm.gif
*
If your phone is rooted you can try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...geenabler&hl=en

But its like plugging a USB flash drive, so not really full integration like when using iPhone/iPod to connect with the USB.

The secret to a good FC is slow and steady acceleration combined with consistent cruise speed throughout your journey.

I'm now at average 17km/l ~ 18km/l as well cruising at 100km/h 60% of the time, the other 40% stuck in traffic. Driving from Sepang to Kelana Jaya through LDP by the way.

In short, try and keep the ECO indicator to lit up as soon as you hit the pedal and keep the cruising speed around 110km/h - 120km/h. Enjoy the ride man, whats the rush tongue.gif

What is the difference between semi and full? Is we always can request SA to return the remaining oil? If SA didn't return, will he like do some sort of discount?
*
They will normally leave the remaining oil in the car.

Just called up for an appointment for my 40k service. cry.gif

Huh? Is it? Later need to check out my boot and see. Full synthetic is more expensive than semi right?
*
Mine they usually left the bottle in the car floor inside plastic bag.

Yes, but since our car need servicing every 5k I just don't think going fully is worth it.

I'm using mineral oil btw, cheapest of the 3. Haha.

if no mistaken I have saw someone comment here is once you are using full synthetic oil, then you cannot turn back to semi.

Can anyone here confirm this?
*
I tried all 3 oil, I don't see any problem with it. First semi, then try fully, then mineral. Honestly I don't feel any different between the 3 so I stick with mineral.
