Hi all sifus,

just wanted to ask this....

let's say my statement date is the 1st of every month, and then payment due is 20th.

so for example if I:

1. purchase on 31st Jan, payment by 20th feb
2. purchase 2nd feb, payment by 20th march
is that correct??

Yes, take note of the posting date not the transaction date

so its very subjective.
but with 5x TP its still worth a shot

The Amex foreign exchange rate is higher than visa/master. The 5x point is not enough to cover the high exchange rate difference. Therefore the safer approach is to get UOB VOX card for online purchase due to 5% rebate. However its foreign exchange rate is similar to Amex but the 5% rebate is definitely enough to cover forex loss. Overall it is still a gain

using AMEX is still a gain 5xTP gives you around 2.5% rebate, meaning after the rebate its only 0.5% charge.
and like i said since the transaction was made on weekends, i was also trying my luck for 5% rebate
using Master will be 1% charge.
so AMEX was my obvious choice
i dont think getting UOB VOX card for the sake of a rarely done transaction is worth my time applying

The admin charge for amex is 2.5% above the exchange rate and their exchange rate is much higher than visa or master. It means you may end up paying more using amex. I know you are trying your luck on weekend, i amjust trying to say, if you use amex on weekdays for foreign transactions, it is not worth it

Read the exchange rate thread for comparison

Admin charge for AMEX is 3%
for Maybank Master is 1%
so AMEX is still better because of 2.5% rebate from 5x TP
*
if you compare like that Amex is 3% - 2.5% = 0.5%

mastercard is 1% - 0.5% (1 point/RM) = 0.5%

however the exchange rate for Amex itself is higher than Visa/Mastercard, therefore overall Amex becomes more expensive for foreign transaction. this is why i ask you to read the exchange rate thread to see the figures instead of just analysing the percentage

No shortcut. Either goto branch / fax / email also can.
- fill up Increase Credit Limit Application Form (subject to approval)
- proof such as latest 3 months salary slip (hopefully with increment) or EA form to justify 2-3x CL on basic salary. Income tax submission form also can submit as proof.

There's one more form, the supplementary declaration form

Hi guys, submitted forms and docs via email. How long until approval? Need it for traveling on May 21. Thanks.

the online application through email, mbbcardservices is actually quite slow. it takes few days for them to reply you that they have received your documents, if you did not submit sufficient documents, there will be further delay. It will take a few days for them to process and then deliver to you through poslaju.

with just 10 days, i think it is not likely that they can get it done. maybe you can call them to ask them expedite the application
