My friend a customs officer already confirmed with me that if an item is under RM500, including the shipping charges, it doesnt have GST.

Ahh damn, I forgot about the tax including GST now. I still keep everything under $500, or under declare it massively when redirecting.

I think they will have a look at the invoice. As long as it is under RM 500 including shipping, you should be OK.

True, when I under declare I usually make sure there's no invoices in the box. But for items that look expensive like the massive blu-ray sets, the customs are smart enough to go online and check the prices, so that could be dangerous sometimes. At that point you just have to hope they're having a lazy day so they don't go doing that.

If l were them, better to go by size of box - bigger box should mean more stuff n more stuff shld mean more exp.. more exp than to exceed 500/- .. more logical tat way unless they really do hv de staf to chek one by one..

They hv de rite to hold back your order cos they hvnt chrgd yet.. same as you hv de rite to cancel until they ship..
tis is my 1st german ordr - out rite they are a lot slower than AMZ dot com n UK n they dont ship as when item comes avlbl which kinda sux but gud ting is they hv cheapest shipping [standard.. anyway]

if they have the stock but still holding your for so long..then that not really a good service and should complain to amazon..

They do it for the custom knives, etc. Go online, check for price, then slap you with a big amount when you come to collect!

U knw.. l kena once, a pckg even below RM500 [ard 400 only] which was held back n asked me to collect at Northern Custom/Postal distribution center - presumably to pay tax - but when l collected, even de customs guy in charge was surprised tat tis particular pckg was asked to be collected there - he said he has no idea why it was held back.. in the end , he released without any payment..
I guess its just de 'inspection' staff which was 'playing de fool' but watever it is - its typical of our 'local boys' - damn unprofessional..

So far I've been lucky, over 150 DHL/UPS/FedEx shipments below RM500 have never been pulled by customs. But the ones slightly over that have been tagged and held like clockwork. Some of those have been packaging items, etc and the tax has been pretty hefty. A few times I get knives, etc via standard shipping, takes weeks but those are never held because there's no invoice information. Just the item in the envelope, etc.

Guessing they have separate people that hold the items and sometimes they've a bit anal about it.

Up north here .. anythng Courier is like 1 in 2 pckgs will be held up for wanting a KDN cert [at least for digital media = dvd/bd] not [ever] one for regular pos malaysia n I hv had numerous [too many to count]
I, personally avoid priority/express shipping like de plague n lll change 'shipping method' online manually - if l happen to catch it in time.. tis is when AMZ upgrds shipping method.. dont hv to say tat l wont pay for de 'faster' method..

On de below 500/- pckg being held, only tat one was ever held [ total... tis is again - more numerous to count ] ..
On luck - ya .. I hv been lucky too, several above 500/- [usually due to de sudden drop in our RM .. ] hv passed un-checked n so un-taxed.. All tis is regular pos malaysia..

Like we say here.. Luck plays a part too..

I was only asked to get the KDN cert once but lucky the building was opposite the customs building in Sepang. Took me hours though to get everything processed. This was for a package that was pretty huge with a few blu-rays, packing items, and a few other things.

I only knew Transformers: Age of Extinction being the first blu-ray release with Dolby Atmos included... but sorry I don't have that title, let alone to sell. Maybe you can check out Garage Sales for this title on sale there. But from what I've heard, Dolby Atmos for home cinema won't be the same as the ones experiened in cinema for some technical limitation as its reason.
