lets say i pick Ten of the users here shoot more then 2 years (aka experienced shooter). they will say the same thing. your first, primary flash, got to be as reliable as possible.... since the first flash will be mounted on your camera during birthday parties, brother's wedding etc, it has to be reliable!. out of the 10 people, perhaps 5 of them had gone the "yuan wang lu" (victimized themself) by going the long way of buying a 3rd party flash due to budget limitation, after 3 months of struggling using it Manually (if u got the manual one) or complaining non stop of the inconsistency of the flash exposure (those 3rd party reverse engineered TTL) and finally decide to sell it and upgrade it, struggle to sell it for 3 month since nobody wans a 3rd party flash (yea... sadly, most of experienced shooter rather spend on Sony Flash) and finally decide to throw it in a cupboard corner and bite the bullet to buy a Sony Flash for the reliability.

as for 3rd party flash, no harm to grab them for 2nd, 3rd flash.... for wireless or home studio setup. but i know most of the shooter here who are doing home studio still uses back sony flash.

i owned F58, F20, F43, F60 (in the order) and now planning to grab one more F43new and buying off an old F58 from a friend (who plans to upgrade to F60)

as shootkk mention, buy sony flash for the sony's WL flash protocol. its cool to have 'automatic flash' in wireless mode! (for beginner to learn bout WL flash)... its simple and easy to use and waste no time setting up and shoot on the go.
ahquan26: sorry to hear that. i guess the repairs will hit around 300-400, unless sony (lately they been very nice for no reason) give big 30% discount... i got a friend send in his A33 repair (without warranty) and replaced about 4 parts and FOC recently.... give it a try.... they will call u up for the estimation of price quotation and ask u wanna do it or not.
