One advice.. use the enrich miles and redeem for other OW airlines like Cathay and JAL. There's some taxes but it's not crazy like MH YQ.

For Eg, KUL - HKG - AKL, the total est taxes for CX came up to about RM 800 per pax return.. while if i fly KUL - AKL under MH, i have to pay almost RM 1.5k per person. With CX, can get to enjoy a stopover in HK, enjoy Pier business lounge and better seats.

The Pier is goooood

Hi, does anyone know if MH airlines is high when they issue the following statement? What's the difference between their second and third statement but how come the answers are different? Also since when traveling with OW Sapphire and Emerald no longer has access to the OW lounge?

Now that sucks. Is that a MH thing or is it smack across the alliance. They're not doing themselves a favour here

Even you could get a confirmed seat with CX, does it make sense for your to fly to northern hemisphere and do a transit there and fly to southern hemisphere?
*
Why not. The premium product is heaven and earth conparing CX and MH.

The Pier VS Golden Lounge for example.

i'm doing KUL - HKG - AKL and back... best part, get to try out new J Pier and A350 to AKL.. beats MH A330 / Golden Lounge any day..

Best part of it all, i'm saving almost RM 1.5k on taxes for 2 pax. Just treat it as visiting 2 countries for the price of 1.

With CX i get to maximise my time also due to more favorable time slot.
*
Had a chance to sample MH's new J seats on the A330, and CX's J on the A350 last month. Much improved compared the old cradle seats on MH credit to where its due. The throne seat especially 1K is good, a lot of storage space.

The A350's J is like a refreshed version of their long haul J on their 77Ws. To compare, both are comfy lie flats, but MH's A330 is pretty basic compared to CX's. Also the newly opened Pier J is thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

In what way is Cx j better than mh?...

I have only 2 experiences with j products, mh 380 and the old 330....and ek 777....and while anything is better than the sloping old 330, the mh380 is better than ek 777...

As to golden lounge, I can say it's not any worse than qf lounge at BNE....
*
They're both flat, fairly similar, I reckon CX's has better padding and a little more space. Plenty of room to store your shoes, personal items. Also better bigger and better IFE. The new J on MH's A330 is a bit claustrophobic, even so on the two abreast seats by the window, very limited storage space. We're comparing MH's A330 and CX's A350 here. The regional J on CX is so so, but then its good enough for a 4 hour flight.

Food was hit and miss on both carriers but there's a more substantial drink and liqueur menu on CX. Overall a more polished experience on CX.

Some pictures if you're interested.

Thanks...yes the cx looks a bit more roomy....I will be on mh to Mel in December so we will see....

Ek j is claustrophobic.... narrow seats with too much metal and plastic around you...

The mh 380 j is still the best...

The pier looks nice....but rather empty?...
*
Yeah it's rather empty. Its between gate 61-63. which is around15-20 minutes if you decide to walk after clearing immigration. I figure maybe that's why.

I dropped by The Cabin also it was very very very crowded. Spent 10 minutes there then went back to The Pier. Anyways if you're interested in lounge hopping there is The Pier, The Cabin, The Wing, and The Bridge cool2.gif cool2.gif

location wise and ease of travel mas still the prefer one.

1. if choose krysflyer, I heard fellow forumers said always need to be on waiting list and therefore this is an issue to consider.

2. if choose asiamiles, location and time consume and waiting list is big issue as everytime we need to fly to hong kong.

3. therefore the only option left for me is to try redeem enrich miles on oneworld partner airlines?

perhaps someone that have more experience can enlighten us? rclxub.gif
*
Enrich costs too much to redeem IMO. I would stick to Asiamiles. Many low cost airlines flying to HKG you can nick a cheap fare there and fly off HKG.

Then again it all depends on your travel pattern, how many miles you fly per year, where you normally go. But face value mile to mile theres more value in AM than Enrich.

tq for your info. but I have check asiamiles, it seems all flights have to be via hong kong  bangwall.gif

I have also call mas to enquire about going to northern Europe like oslo and helsinski under oneworld, they say no routing to there at all. I think if really want to go northern Europe I had to transit London cause the only route mas have?
*
Allow me to offer my two cents in getting bang of buck for your miles. Credit into AsiaMiles and take advantage of AsiaMile's One World Multi Carrier Award programme.

https://www.asiamiles.com/am/en/redeem/charts Scroll to bottomest.

KUL-HKG-HEL-HKG-KUL is a total distance of 12869miles which falls into Award Zone 08 in the AMOWMC Chart. You can fly KUL-HKG-HEL-HKG-KUL for only 115000 AsiaMiles per pax in J. AMOWMC also allows maximum of five stopovers, two transfers and two open-jaws at either origin, en-route or turnaround point. You can mix match your itinerary. KUL-HKG-HEL // OSL-LHR-KUL (if you want a direct flight back).

Rather than spending 120000 miles on a single sector why not take opportunity of this.

*sorry i bash enrich in an enrich thread cry.gif

Due to my business expenses  I can accumulate quite a lot of miles every months. :)therefore ease of travel is my main consideration and I don't mind there's slightly different for the mileage use to redeem ticket. Via HKG is not my choice definitely cause I'm gonna spend additional four hours flying.  it's kind of tiring. thanks for your info though.
*
Got it!

Anyways KUL-SIN-HEL-SIN-KUL is 11890nm, and costs only 115000 AsiaMiles to redeem via their OW Multicarrier Awards programme.

Asiamile's OneWorld Multi Carrier program to me offers the best bang of the buck for miles redemption. I have given up on Enrich, although 90% of my flights are MH. Most of my crediting now go to BAEC and AsiaMiles where i can get more value for money.

asia miles and one world is interlink? I am new to loyalty programme and so much for me to learn  doh.gif

OneWorld is an alliance of various airlines. Few notable airlines include MAS, Cathay, Qatar Airways, Finnair, British Airways, Qantas etc.

AsiaMiles is the way you accumulate points, a frequent flier program. MAS is called Enrich, Singapore Airlines is Krisflyer, AirAsia with AirAsia BIG. Understand that you have treat points from Maybank2Premier, you have an option to redeem miles for MH's Enrich, CX's AsiaMiles, AK's BIG.

All of the respective airline's frequent flier program offers redemption for flights on their airline and their OneWorld partner. Meaning if you have miles in Enrich you can redeem your miles to flights not only on MH but also the rest of the OW airlines.

The only difference is how much they cost. Different program different cost for flights. Face value, MH Enrich is one of the most expensive option I find. AsiaMiles is okay but its hard to get seats on their flights, but their OneWorld Multicarrier Awards program offers a lot of value. British Airways short haul redemption is good with a lot confirmed tickets.

AsiaMiles OneWorld Multicarrier Award scheme charges you on the total distance you travel the whole journey.

https://www.asiamiles.com/am/en/redeem/charts (At the bottom is the chart for AMOWMC)

KUL-SIN-HEL-SIN-KUL costs 115000 asiamiles to redeem based on this scheme.

If its a regular return ticket redemption, a return ticket via AsiaMiles SIN-HEL-SIN is 120000asiamiles, you will still need to redeem KUL-SIN-KUL, or buy your own ticket.

MAS' Enrich costs 132000enrich points for a return ticket SIN-HEL-SIN.

BA's ClubEurope is totally waste of time/not worth of value except u get to enjoy the lounge before fly.

I use it almost exclusively on my HKG-TPE-HKG makan trips. ONE WAY costs 4500 Avios on Y, 9000 Avios on J. Excellent value! Even better if you're OWE, access to Pier F and Wing F. CX lounge in TPE is really good also.

wondering how you can come out with 132000 enrich miles for SIN-HEL-SIN? I cant find it in enrich online
*
http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/nz/en/enri...r-airlines.html

www.gcmap.com to see how far your flight is then compare to the chart.

HEL-SIN is 5761miles in distance, from the chart a return Y ticket is 72000 miles, return J ticket is 132000 miles.

I'm a bit out of touch with MH's enrich, sifu please advise if i'm looking at the wrong thing.

Word of advise just check with both Enrich and Asiamiles on how much you gotta pay in cash. I've heard of exorbitant surcharges for Finnair flights.

well, on flyertalk, most people prefer KA on short haul (Sub 4 hours) due to better food and service. Also getting the reverse herringbone seat on regional flight is like playing russian roulette... Only get that seat if CX is flying their long haul plan on regional. Otherwise the seats are the same as KA.

I hope they solve the transition issue soon cos need to amend my return date...
*
With careful planning you can ! Also transitioning to KA means the end of BA/AA codes on this route.

Anyways, any timeframe till the changes can be made?

It does.

When you click on fare rules you'll see something like this on top of the page.

Example
KUL-MEL DBZ1YMY

MEL-KUL ZBZ6MFMY

First letter will be your fare class. KUL-MEL will be D MEL-KUL will be Z

Anyway of checking if booking already done?...

Was it booked on their website?

If yes they should have sent you a copy of the itinerary with the flight details etc.

Scroll down a bit to fare rules they'll be a bracketed code next to your route KUL-MEL (ZGDHDH). First letter is your fare class.
