I come to notice Asia Miles have better awards chart for business class.

For e.g. Return KL-London 120000, EM will need 127500 (150k -15% online)
              Return KL-Tokyo    80000, EM will need 93500 (110k -15% online)

For economy flights, EM is better. What are the catch?
*
Another point is, with AsiaMiles you will need to do a transit in HK which means few hours will be wasted in the airport.

transit few hours in HKG might be a good thing after all with the superb CX lounges... Tried before Wings J Lounge. Good way to break up the monotonous flight especially if it's a long flight to States.

Of course if you are business class then different story biggrin.gif

Unfortunately Emirates is very clever, not allowing first class redemption if using Enrich miles.

Redemption rates aren't great either, 174k return in biz class for my usual KUL-JFK flights, compared to 145k Asia Miles and 150+k on SQ Krisflyer.

Still very good options simply because Emirates flies to so many different places.
*
Just curious, the redemption rates for Emirates isidentical with oneworld redemption rates right? Do Enrich frequent flyers have to Emirates lounge?

Since can't redeem online, i assume there's no 15% discount on the redemption rates, no?

Beaches - Phuket, Krabi, Bali.
Centuries-old heritage - Siem Reap, Yangon.
Dynamic cities - Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta.
all dekat-dekat one. Southeast Asia not worth to redeem... the taxes itself costs a bomb, better just buy the tickets during promo time.
*
Absolutely agree with you, this is a total scam.
Come on MH, show us some promos on the code-share flights with Emirates!

wait, business class only Flex on promo?

Are they mad or what?
*
Yeah, this is absolutely ridiculous. As for their 30% discount for economy class, this is another bs. You could easily receive a 15% discount for online redemption at anytime. They expexct people to do last minute just to save additional 15% enrich miles? What were they thinking?

I notice that with the Maybank World Master card, members get 50k Airmiles upon approval.
Are there any other cards that give air miles upon activation? Has anyone signed up for it, claimed the miles, and cancelled the card?
*
Sorry for spoiling your party, you would get 50k Treats Airmiles (NOT the standard airmiles). The conversion rate from Treat Airmles to Enrich Miles would be 6,360 to 1,000. With this conversion rate, you would get 7862 Enrich Miles only, which is still not too bad considering it's free for the first year!

Annual fee is not waived for first year.

Oops, you are very right. The annual fee is RM1,000 for the first year. RM1,000 for 7.862 Enrich Miles is definitely outrageous!

10k is good for economy domestic but golden lounge access is a super value if u redeem  biggrin.gif
*
Seriously? Super value to redeem? Why?
In fact, you will need just 5k EM for a domestic lounge access voucher. Here is the link, http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/nl/en/enri...redemption.html

enrich voucher rm50 = 3500 points but not sure what can do. buy duty free onboard maybe..
golden lounge voucher if not mistaken KLIA International is 8k or 10k. domestic lounge cheaper.
entered golden lounge international before, somehow not so impressed and feel not worth to pay to enter compared to PPL complimentary access.
my bad for not monitoring in enrich website.. shouldve redeemed even Asean flights during the last promo cry.gif
*
The last Asean flights redemption was a gimmick. Sometimes you straightaway purchase a N/O class ticket is cheaper than you do redemption.

exactly. of cos i mean redeeming biz class, economy definitely not worth it.
the Asean promo i saw cheapest Phuket return biz is 16000 miles + rm500. non-award ticket usually rm1k for biz unless you use MHupgrade.
better than now need redeem voucher.. haha
*
No worries, there's still about 5 months to go before the expiry. I am sure MH will have another few rounds of EM redemption promo especially during the matta fair period, just stay tuned!

For the last minute upgrade thing, anyone ever experienced doing it at oversea airport counter? can know how much the cost will incur if upgrade using miles?
*
I didn't know that you could perform last minute upgrade with Enrich Miles. I thought you could only upgrade with additional cash or credit card at the check in counter?

One advice.. use the enrich miles and redeem for other OW airlines like Cathay and JAL. There's some taxes but it's not crazy like MH YQ.

For Eg, KUL - HKG - AKL, the total est taxes for CX came up to about RM 800 per pax return.. while if i fly KUL - AKL under MH, i have to pay almost RM 1.5k per person. With CX, can get to enjoy a stopover in HK, enjoy Pier business lounge and better seats.
*
Lucky you. Few days ago, I contacted MH call center to inquire about KUL - BOS with EM redemption in October and was told that the only availability seat is on BA Economy class, requires 60,000 EM (1 way) + RM1467.90 (1 way). That means return ticket require 120,000 EM with RM2935.80 rclxub.gif Bloody MH!!

i have lots of miles, and need to redeem a few tickets for december, but cannot do now, as it is not confirmed...can only decide end next month...
*
It's really official and they have sent out email. Don't believe? Here's the link, http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/content/da...ue&mobile=false

Screw MH vmad.gif , they are getting more and more greedy. Last year they revised the Enrich Miles structure and now this!!!

yes....i think i will move towards other programmes...unfortunately it is very difficult to get confirmed seats with sq...always waiting list....

not greedy lah....they are loosing money big time....and i think a significant percentage of their front cabin is taken by low return redemption passengers, not those high yield full price ones...
*
Yes, it is definitely wise to move towards other alliances. Too bad i am still stuck with them due to my Enrich Gold icon_question.gif

According to Bellew ( http://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...o-no-more-cuts/ ), with passenger loads below 70% currently, they wanted to put more fares in the lower bucket and they will be available when you book online but now they are doing this! thumbsup.gif

For sq waiting list redemption, how many days before flight will we get informed for confirmation?

Yes, i wanted to ask the same thing too but for CX. Does anyone know how many days before the flight they will be able to inform whether we secure the seat or not?

Hi, does anyone know if MH airlines is high when they issue the following statement? What's the difference between their second and third statement but how come the answers are different? Also since when traveling with OW Sapphire and Emerald no longer has access to the OW lounge?

If you click on the link, you'd realize that this is a promo for AA and JL and it has nothing to do with EK.

Let's see how silly is MH FFP now compared to SQ

HKG
SQ: 23,375 (B) / 31,875 (F)
MH: 45,000 (B)

I can fly A380 first class suite on SQ, MH only operate a tiny 737. With SQ i can do business return with the miles required by MH for one way.

PEK
SQ: 29,750 (B) / 42,500 (F)
MH: 55,000 (B)

NRT
SQ: 34,000 (B) / 51,000 (F)
MH: 55,000 (B)
*
Just when I thought MH couldn't possibly be any dumber, MH go and do something like this! notworthy.gif

what they did was merely removing the 15% discount online. Their zone classification has always been the same and for shorter distance it really hurt to redeem with them unless they throw the 50% discount. SQ has more refined distance zone.
*
Yes, i totally agree with you. I have about 100k of EM and don't know what to do with it. I called their call centre to inquire a return flight to BOS on OneWorld and was told that it is going to cost me 120K EM + RM2,935.80 surcharge on BA Economy Class. The phone was disconnected at his end when i wait for the EM required on business class and first class and i don't bother to call them back.

I checked AsiaMiles, a return business class ticket would cost HKD1,022 + 145k AsiaMiles only but it is on waitlist sad.gif
