The winXP usb issue will be fixed in an upcoming patch, so i consider it a non issue. It just means that instead of 7 hours i'll be getting 9 hours on my laptop laugh.gif

Anyway, regarding the "34 known problems", the writer obviously doesn't know much about errata. For those of you who ask "what's that?" then the answer is "it's nothing that concerns you". It will not affect you. Every processor made has some errata. It's good that intel documents them clearly.
in your fanboyism, you phailed to see that battery life and heat is a huge part of a laptop.

ikanayam... i dont mind for what u said... but what is phailed???

and DID u actually USE one?

i've had one celeron-m powered acer lappie. bought for nearly 2 yrs. still running fine. no prob at all. very big screen. batt life is still 80% of the original capacity. no broken hinge.

as said before, celeron-m is a stripped down version of pentium-m

with just 1mb cache (vs 2mb) and no speedstep, which mean power consumption is more. batt life is typically about 2hrs (vs up to 3+ hrs on pentium-m, note the "up to" remark there)

As for both acer and compaq,i have heard quite a lot of complains about them from my friends, but as i have not personally tried it,so will not comment much.
As what i heard, acer - lousy after sales service and support, low quality, need extra care

Compaq - electricity leakage

Anyway, besides this two brands for celeron M,whatelse?

i can explain here, but it will hurt my wrist typing out all of it

so, suggest you go to the pinned thread and search sniper's guide to centrino. it's an indepth explanation of what centrino, pentium-m, intel pro wireless, dothan core, banias core, sonoma platform, yonah (dual core) platform is all about.

Dont worry, here's a simple way to find out:

Take a look at the system properties which shows the Windows version and the processor number.

Intel® Pentium® M processor 780 - 2.26GHz|533MHz FSB|2MB Cache (Sonoma)
Intel® Pentium® M processor 770 - 2.13GHz|533MHz FSB|2MB Cache (Sonoma)
Intel® Pentium® M processor 760 - 2.0GHz|533MHz FSB|2MB Cache (Sonoma)
Intel® Pentium® M processor 750 - 1.86GHz|533MHz FSB|2MB Cache (Sonoma)
Intel® Pentium® M processor 740 - 1.73GHz|533MHz FSB|2MB Cache (Sonoma)
Intel® Pentium® M processor 730 - 1.6GHz|533MHz FSB|2MB Cache (Sonoma)

Intel® Pentium® M processor 765 - 2.1GHz|400MHz FSB|2MB Cache (Dothan)
Intel® Pentium® M processor 755 - 2.0GHz|400MHz FSB|2MB Cache (Dothan)
Intel® Pentium® M processor 745 - 1.8GHz|400MHz FSB|2MB Cache (Dothan)
Intel® Pentium® M processor 735 - 1.7GHz|400MHz FSB|2MB Cache (Dothan)
Intel® Pentium® M processor 725 - 1.6GHz|400MHz FSB|2MB Cache (Dothan)

Centrino is a mobile technology name given to the combination of Intel Pentium M processor + Intel chipset + Intel Wireless Pro WIFI card. Sonoma is codename given to a certain type of Intel Pentium M proccessor.

Centrino = Intel Pentium M (Banias/Dothan/Sonoma) + Intel Chipset + Intel Pro Wireless series WIFI card

I'd like to think FSB as the number of lanes on a highway.

533Mhz FSB has bigger bandwidth than 400MHz FSB.

a 5 lane highway compared to a 3 lane highway.

2 more lanes extra so traffic runs more smoothly.

Just a graphical illustration.

Thanks.
So basiclly 533mhz FSB is run smoother and faster than 400mhz FSB.
That's all?

Theoratically yes if you don't get bottlenecks in the motherboard

In reality. Imagine if the computer doesnt say it has 533Mz FSB or 400MHz FSB or 667MHz FSB. When you use it you actually won't feel a difference. It just makes you feel better buying 1 with higher numbers. :) cheers!

BTW,really would like to know whether anyone of u know how's M-Life's after sales service and support?
Kenny,do u know?have u tried?
