QUOTE(-YS- @ Dec 15 2012, 06:45 AM) Hey guys, i just got iphone 5 from Celcom. Weird things happen, I live in SS2, my house is at level 10, usually no problem getting 3g, my maxis and digi all got 3g, but my celcom iphone 5 stuck on edge network, reset network settings and everything reboot also useless, when i go down stair, Ground floor, got 3g signal, i go back up 10 floor 3g network stays on! But once u turn off 3g and on again it will be gone, stuck on edge! Do you guys think is iphone issue or network issue? I am having the exact same problem! I have called Celcom countless times to ascertain the issue but so far no resolution yet. Sometimes when I drive, I get 3G, but I do not use the phone when I drive . I never had this problem with Celcom when using my previous iPhone 4. Does anyone have an update on this issue? Is it the phone? The line? Nobody in Celcom seems to have an answer.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Dec 18 2012, 03:44 PM) @jason_mufc, If the problem is only happening when you're at home and not when you're at other places then it must be the network. If it's appearing all the time and at different places then it's the phone! @tinkerbel: Appreciate the answer. That would be one way to look at it. However, this issue afflicts so many Celcom iPhone 5 users (based on the complaints on this thread). Could it be that all Celcom iPhone 5s have problems?

QUOTE(fumakiller @ Dec 18 2012, 04:07 PM) this also happen to me.. it seem that if the 3G line is too low signal, it will always use EDGE, even where ur place have 3G coverage it only happen when 3G signal is too low..like mine 2/5 signal bar there seem like no option to use 3G line only for Iphone5 and i am celcom user.. @fumakiller: Do you have this problem in just one place? Or also many places? Added on December 18, 2012, 4:44 pmQUOTE(tinkerbel @ Dec 18 2012, 04:39 PM) @jason_mufc It is possible that it is a Celcom Network issue; perhaps Celcom is doing something on their end? If they are, there will soon be a new "Network Settings" @leechers: Wow I didn't know that. My google search only resulted in Celcom complaints haha. There are a handful of DiGi complaints here but no Maxis also innit? @tinkerbel: Let's hope, because my iPhone 5 has been changed before. The backside metal surface had obvious scratches. Otherwise, the phone works perfect. This post has been edited by jason_mufc: Dec 18 2012, 04:44 PM

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Dec 18 2012, 08:55 PM) @jason_mufc, When the phone doesn't show 3G do U still get 3G connectivity speed or U don't? I don't haf the same issues with mine, thankfully. @tinkerbel: Nope, EDGE all the way. Exactly like how Fumakila describes it. When in areas like my house in Sg Buloh, I used to get 3 to 4 bars of 3G. Now only EDGE. When I go to Damansara Jaya yesterday, full 3G. Even can turn off & on. @fumakila: Does it mean update software? No need to swap phones right?

QUOTE(leechers @ Dec 19 2012, 10:03 AM) have you tried calling celcom and lodge complain? i did yesterday and few hours later and up till now it is good. @leechers: Haha I called 3 or 4 times man. They said they will monitor. Up till now my place still no 3G. When I go out it's ok the 3G quite strong. I even called and asked the guy who sold me the phone. HIs answer was NANO sim is quite unstable at this stage. Try and use a few days and see if it improves. If not come in for SIM swap. If still not fixed, then phone swap. But my hunch is that this is a network + software issue. I think fumakila's explanation might be it. The software now searches for the strongest signal and in my area, that is EDGE, but at my friend's place in DJ, it was 3G. Well, hope it gets resolved soon.

QUOTE(leechers @ Dec 19 2012, 11:05 AM) well if it can capture 3g signal then i think you dont have to worry much. plus i suspect iphone 5 does not capture the signal as strong as other device, i comparing with my galaxy tab 10.1 same place, same telco, but galaxy tab 10.1 shows healthy and strong signal compare to iphone 5 @leechers: Exactly! At first I was a bit worried cos no 3G at all. Then when you move to city areas like Damansara and Bandar Utama, the bloody thing picks up 3G, so yes it an capture 3G signal. Previously I used Samsung GS3 and I get H+ all the time so yes I agree IP5's signal capturing not as strong. For our sake I hope an update will resolve this.

QUOTE(sovietmah @ Dec 19 2012, 12:16 PM) This is just a wifi fix. Maybe 6.1 will be more extensive. Either ways, fingers are crossed.

QUOTE(sfotsy @ Dec 19 2012, 12:58 PM) No i do not see any improvement at all when talking about 3G signal! Added on December 19, 2012, 1:01 pmthis is what been told also, i have to wait for 3 days and see the status goes into Edge or 3G. By the way are you a Maxis user? No sir, am with Celcom. From past experience Celcom has been quite good with my iPhone 4. This is the first time I am experiencing Network issues with them. Got sick of Maxis' way of overcharging and billing practices.

QUOTE(sogoatticus @ Dec 19 2012, 03:23 PM) im using celcom also from ip4 to ip5, from my exp, 1)ip4 no problem on/off 3g. 2)recently i noticed today to connect to 3g it takes time a bit compared to ip4 3)what i've done yesterday was reset all settings 4)my location is PJ i've played around on/off at System Services, not sure if it have anything to do with retrieving 3g signal @sogoatticus: In PJ I get instant 3G haha. No need to reset anything. 3G just appears. What makes me is my own area only EDGE. Lucky at home got Unifi.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Dec 19 2012, 09:39 PM) @jason_mufc, So when you're home you don't get 3G connectivity but EDGE? Or could it be that it doesn't show that you're on 3G but perhaps your connection is 3G connection? Is that possible? I live in Sg Buloh too and don't have the same issues as you; then again, I'm on Maxis @tinkerbel: Yes in the past week I have only been getting EDGE but on Celcom. Tried Speet Testing the connection, definitely EDGE speeds. BUT since yesterday midnight I have been getting proper 3G. I think Celcom fixed it. Up till this morning I have 3G connection. Speed Tested it about 2-3MBps lar. Quite decent. My issue is considered solved haha. PS. U live in Sg. Buloh? Which part? I'm in Rahman Putra
